- In addition to The Doomsday Machine (1967), Spinrad wrote another episode of Star Trek (1966) titled "He Walked Among Us" for 1967 that was intended to guest star Milton Berle but was never filmed. Berle was to play a character named Bayne who was perceived as a god by a race called the Jugali. When the script was reworked as an unfunny comedy episode, Spinrad was horrified and successfully talked Gene Roddenberry into abandoning it altogether, although Spinrad later presented his original script online.
