Paul Simon is a celebrity who has been in the spotlight since the ’60s. His music career, both as part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel and as a solo artist, has ensured him an important place in history.
Along with his beloved songs like “Mrs. Robinson” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” Simon’s celebrity relationships have often put his name in the headlines. Notably, Simon dated a famous actor and a young businesswoman before he connected with his current wife. The course of true love didn’t run smoothly for Simon though, as his relationship with his wife has been fraught with some tension — and one legal case.

The Third Annual First Time Fest took place over the past weekend in New York City, from March 5th to March 9th. The festival, which celebrates first time filmmakers, had numerous panels that discussed topics such as financing films to getting the right marketing for the film to even talks from established filmmakers sharing their advice. The festival concluded with the honoring of Harvey Weinstein, as a tribute for “his support of first time filmmakers.”
A purely New York City centric film festival, the festival’s founders of Johanna Bennett and Mandy Ward chose to show the films at the Core Club, the Village East Cinema, and the Wild Project, while the discussions and panels were featured at the B Bar and Grill. The festival allows for a five day competition among films that were completed by first time filmmakers for the chance to win international sales and theatrical distribution.

Update: Viewers on the U.S. can now watch the pilot episode of "Girls" on YouTube without an HBO subscription. Unembeddable, but watch here.
Generally speaking, comedies don't arrive on the small screen fully formed, and often take some time to find and establish their voice and tone. Just look at the first seasons for shows like "Seinfeld," "The Simpsons" or the American version of "The Office." Those initial episodes, while showing flashes of the best they would have to offer, are uneven, with characters still taking shape, jokes missing as often as they land and the overall architecture still being built. But the remarkable thing in watching the premiere episode of Lena Dunham's "Girls" is how confidently it struts out of the gate, and how fully structured it seems right from the start.

Harper Simon's new video for "Berkley Girl" looks like it's been sitting in a lock box since 1970, next to a Simon and Garfunkel 8-track. It was shot on 8mm by director Benjamin Kutsko, in the hills of La's Echo Park, and is even more bewitching than his debut "Wishes and Stars."
"I was really excited to explore Echo Park as a character in this video, as well as the delicate balance that exists between two people whose relationship has moved from lovers to friends," Kutsko said. "Shooting on film was important to me; the second the song begins, it is clear that Harper's voice doesn't live in a digital world."
That's actress Jena Malone ("Into the Wild," "Donny Darko," "Contact") who seems to be dropping colossal amounts of liquid acid with Simon -- whose voice is all juniper and roses on this dreamy ballad.

He's the son of Paul Simon and Peggy Harper, the Silver Girl of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." At age four, he sang "Bingo" on Sesame Street, at eight, he had a brief appearance in his father's film One Trick Pony, and when he was twelve, he accompanied his famous dad on the Graceland tour, backing him up on guitar. Those are your basic Wiki entries on Harper Simon. But last year, the most important fact was added to his credit list--he independently released an excellent solo debut that established him as one of the best new singer-songwriters in the genre. A while back, Harper Simon and this writer took a tour of the CD bins at Hollywood's Amoeba Records with the premise that we would buy each other three albums that we felt the other needed. That adventure resulted in a...

Yoko Ono was joined by a star-studded line-up including Eric Clapton, Bette Midler and the Scissor Sisters on Tuesday night, February 16 to perform the first Plastic Ono Band's show in 40 years. Clapton joined bassist Klaus Voorman and drummer Jim Keltner onstage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. Both Voorman and Keltner are members of the original line-up that recorded John Lennon's anthem "Give Peace a Chance" in 1969.
Meanwhile, Lennon and Ono's son Sean Lennon, Paul Simon and his son Harper Simon, Martha Wainwright, Sonic Youth and Mark Ronson also took part in the concert.
Midler sang a rendition of track "Yes, I'm Your Angel", which Ono wrote for Lennon when he grew anxious about turning 40. The Beatles' legend was shot dead two months after his 40th birthday in 1980.

We first heard from Australian-born neo-soul singer Daniel Merriweather on Mark Ronson's groundbreakin 2003 album "Here Comes The Fuzz." Well, here comes smooth-voiced singer's debut album, "Love & War," due some time this fall via J/Allido, Ronson's impring. The set is already burning up the U.K. album chart this week at No. 2. The first look us Yanks get is "Red," video below. In a world where R&B lyrics regularly fall prey to tired cliches and soulless love-language tripe, "Red" has gorgeous words, which Merriweather delivers with sentiment and talented excitement. Listen for contributions from guitarists Sean Lennon and Harper Simon,...
