During the DC Comics crossover Absolute Power, Amanda Waller made the world think heroes were committing crimes worldwide. Then, her Task Force VII stole powers from heroes and villains across Earth Prime and kept them for themselves. To make things worse, Waller was helped by Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Batman’s android, Failsafe. Of course, the heroes eventually fought back. With Nightwing leading, the heroes attacked Waller and took their planet back.
Now that the series is over, here's everything you need to know about the finale of Absolute Power and how it affects DC Comics.

1989’s The Trial of the Incredible Hulk was a made-for-television movie that served as a backdoor pilot for a Daredevil television series. The film also introduced viewers to Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Wilson Fisk / Kingpin. However, before they could go on to headline their own series, plans were scrapped for an unexpected reason.
Rex Smith as Daredevil in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk
According to actor Rex Smith, who played Daredevil in the movie, there was every intention for the backdoor pilot to expand into a television series. However, these plans never materialized because of another network’s rival series and the spotlight cast upon it. Here is how a planned 90s Daredevil series was canceled because of a DC show.

We live in a golden era of sci-fi on TV, where "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" come in multiple flavors, "Stranger Things" is an event every season, and the CW recently wrapped up an entire universe of DC Comics superheroes on the small screen. Fortunately for all sci-fi fans, this is a time where the people who make such shows grew up loving them, and critics who review them were raised on the concepts and get it. This is all a relatively new phenomenon.
As recently as the '90s, TV critics weren't necessarily big on high-concept sci-fi, and the people making these shows didn't always know what they were doing either. Even if they did, producers over their heads weren't necessarily making the best decisions either. Superheroes on TV were entirely different three decades ago, and the weekly format was just discovering the notion of season-long arcs. There were growing pains to be sure,...

James Van Der Beek and Kerr Smith are looking back at filming Dawson’s Creek and recalled some death-defying experiences they had on jet skis at the time.
This week, the two actors told People magazine at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, that things would sometimes get a bit wild behind the scenes of the hit teen drama when they were filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.
“A couple of the guys on the crew had boats and you know we had the guest stars come in and the writers come in every episode and we would take them out on the water on the weekends,” Smith, who played Jack McPhee, recalled. “We’d stop and eat crab in the morning yet. And we’d fill up the boats with whatever we needed. We would barbecue out on the island. We all had jet skis.”

Grant Gustin is arguably the most popular actor ever to helm the role of Barry Allen/ The Flash, who played the character in The CW series as part of the Arrowverse. The actor has built a dedicated fan base, and DC fans have been begging James Gunn to replace Ezra Miller with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in his rebooted Dcu. For those wondering if he would ever return as The Flash, the actor has given one condition under which he would do so.
Grant Gustin as The Flash
Earlier, he said that he would return to reprise the role only if James Gunn asked him to do so. And at such a time, Gunn recently gave some hope to the fans as he shared his interest in working with Gustin. However, it’s not sure for which role Gunn wants him. It might not be Barry Allen.

This Blue Beetle article contains spoilers.
At the start of Blue Beetle’s second act, protagonist Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) asks an important question: “Who the hell was Blue Beetle?”
A lot of viewers wondered the same thing when the Warner Bros. movie came to theaters earlier this year and they’ll likely be asking it again now that the movie is streaming on Max. People don’t ask that same question of Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but not because Blue Beetle is at best a C-lister in the DC Comics bullpen. Rather it’s because the man behind the Blue Beetle mask has changed several times since Charles Nicholas Wojtkoski debuted the character in 1939.
The big-screen adaptation introduces Blue Beetle as Jaime Reyes, who is a recent college grad forced to the superhero identity after receiving an alien scarab from Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), the daughter of inventor Ted Kord,...

The Flash arrived on the CW as an antidote to the heavy, bleak world of Arrow. Our Scarlet Speedster was going to be a bright, upbeat superhero series and it was—at first. With each successive season, it grew bleaker and more chaotic as an overstuffed cast all demanded screentime and the writing staff never seemed to grasp that there were other villains than those connected to the Speed Force.
The 2022-23 television season brought us The Flash’s ninth and final season, providing a chance to give closure to the core characters. Tomorrow, Warner Home Entertainment releases The Flash: The Complete Ninth and Final Season.
Across the truncated season, everyone had a moment to shine, get their due, take a bow and move aside so the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Nora West Allen (Candice Patton) center got to have the last word as they finally welcomed Nora to the preset.

“The Flash” has finally arrived.
After several attempts (this iteration of the character has been brewing since at least 2013) and substantial controversy, the scarlet speedster has arrived in theaters with an accompanying whirlwind of both excitement and hesitation. Borrowing loosely from the event comic series “Flashpoint,” “The Flash” stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, a crime lab technician and superhero (or “metahuman” in DC speak) who decides to go back in time and prevent his mother’s murder (and his father’s arrest for said murder) but winds up being knocked out of his timeline and into an alternate reality that is very, very wrong. In this reality he is younger, doesn’t have superpowers and might be helpless to stop an alien invasion led by Zod (Michael Shannon), since this world doesn’t have any metahumans.
Can he find that world’s heroes, save the day, and get back to his own realm?...

One of the smartest things that the producers of the Grant Gustin-led The Flash on The CW did was bring on Og Flash John Wesley Shipp, who played the Scarlet Speedster in the 1990-91 series on CBS. Shipp, a two-time Daytime Emmy-winner for his roles on As the World Turns and Santa Barbara, was tapped to not only play Barry’s dad Henry Allen but later, Jay Garrick (the Flash of Earth-3) and also his Barry Allen (from Earth-90). TV Insider sat down with Shipp to get his thoughts on what it meant to him both professionally and personally to play such integral roles on the revived series, which came to an end last month after nine seasons. Judging purely from the downward quality graph of its last few seasons and even the major portion of the final one, it feels like CW’s The Flash should have wrapped things up years ago. Even the most sincere fans of the series will acknowledge that poor writing and being overcrowded by unnecessary characters have absolutely destroyed any sort of significance the series ever had. It makes the realization all the more painful that the impeccable first two seasons of the series were trendsetting in superhero adaptations because they wore qualities like novelty, optimism, and hope on their sleeve. With the series finale releasing, the realization will dawn heavily on the fans who have invested themselves in the series for nine long years, as with the conclusion of the series, the last vestiges of the Arrowverse, the TV universe it was a part of, are gone in a flash too.

“The Flash” has officially crossed the finish line on The CW and with it, the Arrowverse has officially come to an end. So, how exactly did the show wrap up its nine seasons and an entire on-screen universe?
Well, the good news is pretty much everyone got their happy ending. But before we can get to the ending, let’s start at the beginning.
As promised, Tom Cavanaugh indeed returned for the series finale of “The Flash,” and pretty early too. Eobard Thawne was not the only major villain from Barry’s (Grant Gustin) past that returned though. Savitar made an appearance too, along with Karan Oberoi’s Godspeed and a few others.

Back in 1990, CBS’s The Flash was a favorite of young comic book fans. Growing up as a young comic book fan in the ’80s and ’90s was not easy. All you current comic fans have it so easy. I grew up in the dark times, my friends. We were glad when anything comic book related was on movies and TV. We were so desperate that we would make excuses for anything.

It's hard to pin down the quintessential take on the Dark Knight, but nothing comes close to "Batman: The Animated Series" as far as animation is concerned. The show defined an era of superhero television in more ways than one. It spun off a universe of animated projects following DC's greatest characters, including "Justice League." Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill were cemented as the signature voices of Batman and the Joker, respectively. The neo-noir aesthetic that filled out "Batman: The Animated Series" became synonymous with the character, but the acclaimed series also borrowed from its predecessors, too.
The musical score in "Batman: The Animated Series" is exquisite, to say the least. The composer, Shirley Walker, perfectly captures the heightened world of Gotham City and its players without feeling corny or campy. It also sounds quite similar at times to the Danny Elfman theme in Tim Burton's "Batman." This is no coincidence.

Even the most diehard Flash fan has to admit that evil speedsters are a dime a dozen. For every Barry Allen or Wally West who enters the Speed Force, there’s a Reverse Flash or Black Flash, who use their superspeed to do horrendous harm to reality. So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to learn that in the 9th and final season of The Flash on The CW, Barry will be facing off against yet another evil speedster: the Red Death.
Say what you will about the saturation of speedsters in the world of The Flash, the origin of the Red Death in more recent DC comics does set the character apart, as does the actor playing Red Death for The CW version: Javicia Leslie, who most recently portrayed the title character on Batwoman. This makes A Lot of sense.

Red Death is a relatively new character,...

‘Member when heading into The Flash‘s Season 8 finale, timesick Iris suddenly vanished from the 2049 S.T.A.R. Labs med bay and rematerialized in 2022, just in time to get zapped by one of Barry’s hurled lightning bolts? Iris then seemingly died in her husband’s arms, before dissipating into a cloud of particles.
The search was then on to find Iris, and though 2049’s Jay Garrick and wife Dr. Joan Williams traveled to 2022 to help out, why didn’t their own Barry Allen/The Flash offer up his own considerable set of skills?

A well-rumored crossover between DC’s Stargirl and at least one other live-action superhero series looks more and more like the real deal.
On the heels of Reddit reports and such (including the spying of “Blue Valley High School” signage on a Titans set in Toronto), Stargirl/Courtney Whitmore herself, Brec Bassinger, has added much fuel to the crossover fire.

The CW’s “The Flash” is gearing up for its final season, and with it, series star Grant Gustin is looking back.
In an Instagram post he shared late Tuesday night, the actor, who has played Barry Allen/The Flash across eight seasons of “The Flash” and the season before on “Arrow” (when the show was introduced as a backdoor pilot) shared a short note with fans looking back ahead of Season 9.
“Tomorrow we start filming the final season of ‘The Flash.’ I’ll save the long, emotional captions for later in the season, but to say I’m grateful for this journey and the growth it’s provided me in so many different ways would be a gross understatement,” Gustin shared. “Thankful to everyone who helped give me this opportunity and all the fans of the show that have showed me and anyone that’s been a part of...

We live in a day and age where reboots reign supreme.
But while many have unfortunately missed the mark over the years, quite a few have proven to be just as fun as their predecessors.
A few great ones have even outdone their namesakes in quality and longevity.
From the recently saved Magnum P.I. to the recently departed Babysitter's Club and Fox's Fantasy Island, we've compiled a list of the best reboots out there.
Of course, there are more than ten, so please let us know in the comments which reboots are your favorite!

S.W.A.T. is a winner.
It's not easy to match the same tone as the original, but S.W.A.T. has done a fantastic job. The casting is excellent, and while it has less humor than the original, overall, it's a terrific balance of the past and present.

The Flash has hit another speed bump. The long-in-development solo film about the fastest man alive seemed to have finally found the finish line, with a June 2023 release date nearing. But when star Ezra Miller was arrested in March for disorderly conduct and harassment, things looked bleak once again. Rolling Stone has learned that the incident prompted Warner Bros. officials to hold a meeting regarding Miller’s role with the studio. According to Rolling Stone, executives have decided to “hit pause” on any further work involving Miller, including their appearances in a Flash sequel or in any related projects.

This The Flash article contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 7 Episode 18
The Flash Season 7 ends as it lived, with a mixed-bag finale that is generally entertaining to watch, but that doesn’t make much sense if you look at it too closely. “Heart of the Matter, Part 2” gives us some highly entertaining visuals (the Flash family runs together at last!) and the surprising return of an old enemy, but, on the whole, this isn’t an hour that feels like a conclusion that’s especially worthy of the story that kicked off last week.
But despite the multiple head-scratchingly bizarre narrative swerves in the second half of this two-parter, a ray of light remains: Nora and Bart Allen. The arrival of Barry and Iris’ kids from the future provides a positive burst of pure delight in an otherwise dour season, and one can only hope they’ll stick around to sprinkle...

The following The Flash article contains spoilers through Season 7, Episode 17.
The Flash Season 7 Episode 17
Look, as much as it hurts my heart to admit it, The Flash Season 7 has frequently been a bumpy ride. Its storylines have run the gamut from the truly dreadful (anything involving the Forces of Nature) to the nonsensical (the inexplicable Joe West and Kristen Kramer team-up), with a few dollops of brilliance sprinkled throughout.
Therefore, it makes sense that some of us (read: me) were pretty nervous about what might happen in the show’s landmark 150th episode, which has been touted all season as a big, fanservice-filled deal, complete with the introduction of Jordan Fisher’s Bart Allen.
To be fair, “Heart of the Matter, Part 1” still struggles with some of the same problems that have plagued the rest of this season. No one would have noticed if such an important anniversary episode skipped...

Courtney Whitmore will be meeting many new faces on Stargirl Season 2!
The CW has dropped the official trailer for the forthcoming season, which will bring some new heroes and villains into the fold.
Of the heroes, we have Green Lantern's daughter, Jade, so that will undoubtedly change the show's dynamic.
Ysa Penarejo is set in that role.
Additional new faces include Nick Tarabay (Arrow) as Eclipso, Jonathan Cake (The Affair) as Injustice Society alum The Shade, and The Flash‘s John Wesley Shipp, who will appear as Golden Age speedster Jay Garrick.
It's an action-packed trailer, one that shows off some of the big changes headed our way.
While Stargirl Season 1 was shared between DC Universe and The CW, the series is now a CW exclusive, meaning that you'll have to watch the show on the network when it launches on August 10, 2021.

Arrow star David Ramsey is returning to the Arrowverse as John Diggle for a five-episode run across Legends of Tomorrow, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, and Supergirl this spring and summer. On top of guest-starring in five episodes that explore what John has been up to since his cliffhanger ending in the Arrow series finale, Ramsey also directed three episodes of this season’s Arrowverse lineup. While Ramsey makes his Superman & Lois directorial debut on May 25, you’ll first see John in the flesh on the June 13 episode of Batwoman.
But will he be returning simply as John Diggle, co-head of Argus, or will fans finally get to see him put on a Green Lantern ring for the first time?
Let’s rewind for a minute. After years of speculation, forum theories, and wishful thinking, the final episode of Arrow finally teased what fans had hoped for all along: that John...

Stargirl Season 2 is going to do something that no live-action incarnation of the Justice Society of America has managed to do: put original Flash Jay Garrick among their ranks. And while other Jsa members on the series haven’t been beholden to the versions that popped up in other corners of the Arrowverse (notably Legends of Tomorrow), Stargirl’s Jsa will feature the only actor to bring Jay Garrick to life in live action in the role once again: John Wesley Shipp.
EW broke the news that Shipp will appear as Jay Garrick in the ninth episode of Stargirl Season 2, in what is called “a pivotal flashback episode” which places “the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2’s Justice Society of America.” It’s a notable inclusion, since Garrick has been a founding member of the Jsa in the comics since the team’s first appearance in...

Stargirl is officially being inducted into the Arrowverse — with the help of a familiar face.
John Wesley Shipp will return as Jay Garrick in a guest starring role on the second season of “Stargirl,” The CW confirmed to TheWrap. He’s set to be part of a flashback episode that will not only establish him as part of Earth-2’s Justice Society of America, but will officially bring Brec Bassinger’s Stargirl into the post-Crisis Arrowverse.
In a pre-covid world, each new Arrowverse show and hero was connected to the world at large via a yearly crossover event. The very first crossover came during the 2014-15 season, when Grant Gustin’s Flash and Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow met in Central City. It then became an annual event with “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Supergirl” and “Batwoman” being initiated in subsequent years.

The original The Flash TV series celebrated its 30th anniversary back in September of 2020. While the show only ran for a single season on CBS, it made quite an impression on fans who weren’t accustomed to seeing DC superheroes other than Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman on their screens, and over the years it has maintained a devoted cult following. Adding to its legacy, star John Wesley Shipp keeps returning to the Speed Force, whether as the voice of Professor Zoom on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as Dr. Henry Allen, the father of the current TV Barry Allen on the CW’s The Flash, as original speedster Jay Garrick on that same show, and finally as his version of Barry from the ’90s as part of Crisis on Infinite Earths.

From the moment John Diggle pulled a glowing green box from the crashed meteor in Arrow‘s series finale, we knew that the end of the Arrowverse’s namesake show wouldn’t be the end of David Ramsey in that universe. But we had no idea just how important to its future he would be.
According to Deadline, Ramsey is set to direct five episodes of Arrowverse shows, including episodes in the first season of Superman & Lois and the final season of Supergirl.
But perhaps more intriguingly, he’s also slated to appear as John Diggle in five episodes across the entire spectrum of shows – on The Flash, Superman & Lois, Supergirl, and Batwoman. And he’s also got a mystery role lined up in Legends of Tomorrow season 6. It’s that appearance more than anything else that has fans buzzing that we’ll finally see John join the Green Lantern Corps.

Last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover redefined the boundaries of the Arrowverse. The DC multiverse as it was known was destroyed and then reborn during the massive conclusion. We witnessed the deaths of a number of those universes directly (by weird Earth-2 where most dopplegangers were slightly evil versions of our heroes) and some of them were directly reborn/replaced (DC’s Jsa-focused Stargirl TV series takes place on a new Earth-2), others such as Earth-38 (home of Supergirl) and the unnamed Earth where the first three seasons of Black Lightning took place, were folded into the new Earth-Prime, which is the new official home of much of the reconfigured Arrowverse.
Other Earths weren’t so lucky, though, and their demise came offscreen with no additional explanation of what happened. One of these was Earth-3, the home of Jay Garrick, which was wiped from existence by the events of the Crisis.
