You’ve got to love a show that gets stronger over time… or at least gets higher ratings, and since that’s exactly the case with Syfy‘s Haven, fans can relax for quite a while. The network has ordered 26 new episodes, and they will air as a split fifth season. 13 will air in the fall, and the remaining 13 will air sometime in 2015.
According to the announcement, it isn’t just ratings that are high on the network’s radar. Up on the social media chatter front, the show is clearly proving itself as one with loyal, and vocal, fans, and the network is paying attention to that.

Wow, dreams really Can come true! Not only has Syfy renewed our beloved Haven for another season, but it has put in a double order – yes, Twenty-six episodes of Haven coming our way! Am I concerned that this is supposed to be a “congratu-dolences” because it might be a final two seasons? Of course I am. Do I think that’s what it is? No I Do Not. Will I let any such concerns dampen my celebrations? No Way.

Haven Season 4 is coming to wrap itself around us in all its creepy mysterious gorgeous Nova Scotia-posing-as-New England goodness, and I am So Ready. They’ve even made it easy to remember the premiere date: Friday the 13th of next month.
I’m thrilled that Colin Ferguson (Eureka) is joining as a recurring guest star, and now we have news of two others. I hope they all fare better than last year’s recurring guest star. You know, the psychologist? Yowie.
With so many shows, new characters can be disruptive, but the casting in this series has always been impeccable, and seamless with the writing and the collective excellence of the show. And no matter how hard they try, and sometimes they do try, guest stars seem to never be able to permanently break up my favorite love/buddy triangle of Audrey, Nathan, and Duke.
But wait til you see who Christian Camargo (Dexter) plays…...

Excellent, some Haven news! Production has begun for Season 4 of this absolutely terrific show, up in gorgeous Halifax. Everyone I’ve talked with who’s involved in the show’s production talks about the big part the location plays in the series, and I agree. We also have news that the star of another Syfy show that featured an “interesting” town will be joining the Haven community:
Yes Colin Ferguson, Eureka‘s Sheriff Jack Carter, will be showing up in our favorite creepy town. Here are the details, along with a head’s up about where we’ll be when the show returns:

Press Release: Startling new mysteries and secrets are in the works as Syfy’s hit series Haven goes into production today, May 8, on an all-new 13 episode Season 4 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
When Haven premieres this October, Colin Ferguson (Eureka) returns to Syfy playing William, a handsome mysterious stranger, whose secret agenda leads him to Audrey (Emily Rose).
Season 4 of Haven picks up six months after the devastating events of the Season 3 cliffhanger in which the town was pummeled by a violent meteor storm. Audrey and Duke (Eric Balfour) vanished into thin air leaving an injured Nathan (Lucas Bryant) marooned in Haven.
During its third season, Haven averaged 2.3 million total viewers, 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 901,000 Adults 18-49. It was the #1 cable drama during its Friday night at 10 Pm timeslot (based on Live + 7 data) in Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54 and total viewers.

Haven airs on Syfy in the Us and Showcase in Canada.
The supernatural drama series Haven has been renewed for a 13-episode fourth season to air in 2013, Showcase has announced.
Haven, is loosely based on the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. The show is set in the titular seaside town which is supposed to be on the coast of Maine, although the series is filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada. Despite its picture postcard appearance, Haven has a turbulent history as a result of the so-called ‘troubles’ that afflict the local residents.
Front and center in events in Haven is Audrey Parker (Emily Rose). In the series premiere Parker comes to the town as an FBI agent. However, after befriending local cop Nathan Wournos (Lucas Bryant) and the roguish Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) she joins the Haven Pd and investigates the town’s many secrets. Some of these have...

Those of us who know and love the very excellent Haven know that the town is a wee bit creepy. Previously it’s been the townspeople who have been slightly (or more than slightly) scary, but tonight we learn that even the buildings can have issues – or at least one special building can. In fact, the building used for the location shoot has a history of its own.

It wasn’t an incident-free shoot, by the way. It was creepy.” How cool is that?...

This new season of Haven is absolutely terrific; familiar yet fresh, just the way we like our favorite shows. We would absolutely hang out with – heck, we would date, if we were available and they were willing – any of the main characters of this show. Charming, intelligent, witty, perceptive, loyal, supportive, and each one of them an absolute biscuit. Yes, even the Teagues. There is just something about this town…

Some of the best news coming out of Syfy lately is the fact that Haven is returning for its third season on September 21, less than a month away. There is an atmosphere on the show, set in a small seaside town in Maine (no surprise, as it’s based on a novella by Stephen King), that combines with the exceptional cast chemistry and fantastically twisty plots to make it easily my favorite show on Syfy. You could say it has – sorry – an Edge.
Because it does. WWE superstar Edge (Adam Copeland) joined the show for a few guest appearances last season as Dwight, a “cleaner” of the aftermath of Troubled incidents, and now we hear from Syfy that he’ll be back for Season 3. It would be easy to suspect that this is stunt casting, but honestly, he’s a natural. The show has consistently excellent writing, but the actors still need to bring it,...

The mystery of Haven deepens week by week for Audrey Parker (Emily Rose).
The cast and crew of Showcase’s supernatural mystery series Haven are heading back to the coast of Nova Scotia for April 18, which has been announced as the official start date for production on Season 3 of the show
Loosely based on the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King, Haven follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose). Parker becomes a cop in the small coastal town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her past.
As supernatural series go, Haven is generally low key, but it’s appealing characters, intriguing mysteries and beautiful setting have helped to make it a deserved hit in this writer’s opinion.

SyFy has released a trailer for the up coming series "Haven", based on The Colorado Kid written by Stephen King. Word has it that King has nothing to do with the series and it is more 'in the flavor' of King than actually influenced by any of the horror icon's texts. That said, it looks like some of the writing team from The Dead Zone is involved, and I was a fan of Dead Zone – so not giving up hope here. Here is the trailer and some details from SyFy.

Adam Kane, who directed episodes of 'Heroes' and 'The Mentalist,' is diving back into genre TV with Stephen King's 'Haven.'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the director has singed to helm the pilot for Syfy's upcoming supernatural series, based on King's novella, 'The Colorado Kid.'
The project, which centers on an FBI agent investigating a murder in a creepy town in Maine, has snagged Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour and Richard Donat for key roles. "Haven is like the Stephen King alternative to [Eureka], not the dark, grim Steven King version of that but the 'Green Mile' version of that with people beginning to experience strange supernatural abilities but not being aware of it." Emily Rose plays FBI Agent Audrey Parker who finds herself investigating a series of unusual phenomena in the small town of Haven, Maine. I’m not sure if we ever get tired of Stephen King adaptations. When you have an author whose creative output is so substantial, producers are going to want to mine that talent until there’s no more projects to adapt.
The latest in the long line of King adaptations is the upcoming Syfy pilot for the supernatural series Haven, which will be directed by Adam Kane according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kane’s previous work in television includes episodes of Heroes, Supernatural, The Mentalist, and the sadly missed Pushing Daisies.
Syfy announced last November that Haven had been ordered to a 13-episode first season. The thriller is based on the King novella, The Colorado Kid, which deals with an eerie Maine town where the cursed live normal lives in exile. When the curses begin to return, an FBI agent is brought in to fight those supernatural forces while struggling to understand the mysterious town.

The novella consisted of a conversation among some cantankerous newspaper folk about a mysterious death.

SyFy will be launching a 13 episode series titled "Haven", based on the Stephen King novella "The Colorado Kid". The novella was a tribute to the 'hard-boiled' genre of noir mystery, complete with King staples including a mysterious body, a small Maine island, and the usual procession of rustic characters. You could call it North-Eastern noir, I suppose.
The series itself seems to be one of those 'in the flavor of' things, with no direct King connection – yet – outside of providing the source 'inspiration.' For the full story, let's turn the mic over to SyFy's newly minted press release:

In a deal to be unveiled Tuesday at Mipcom, Toronto-based E1 Entertainment will produce the small-screen adaptation of King's 2005 novella "The Colorado Kid" along with "The Dead Zone" executive producers Piller/Segan/Shepherd, and handle the worldwide distribution of the one-hour series.
And Universal Networks International, NBC Universal's global channel division, will co-finance the drama and acquire the exclusive pay TV broadcast rights for the world, excluding Canada, U.S. and Scandinavia.
Production on "Haven" is set to start early next year ahead of a planned fall 2010 airdate.

Stephen King's novella The Colorado Kid is being adapted into an hour-long TV series by the same creative group behind The Dead Zone series. E1 Entertainment is the production firm developing the show which is now being called Haven, so named after the fictional small town in Maine where King set several of his scary tales in.
Three of the executive producers on USA Network's Dead Zone series, which ran for six seasons, are onboard including Scott Shepherd who will act as showrunner on Haven. Casting hasn't gotten underway yet and E1 is now seeking a European investor and broadcaster before moving on to domestic channels.
The show's main character will be an FBI agent called Audrey Parker who is sent to Haven to investigate the strange paranormal activity going on. The townsfolk are seemingly involved in the activity, some moreso than others and to at extent which seems like they are cursed.

I suppose if you had to turn to someone to adapt another Stephen King story into an ongoing series, you could do worst than Scott Shepherd, Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller, the trio that somehow managed to turn a King novel into a long-running TV series in The Dead Zone, which ran for six seasons and resurrected the career of Anthony Michael Hall as psychic Johnny Smith. Their latest project will be adapting King’s “The Colorado Kid”, since retitled Haven to the small screen as an ongoing show. As is per King’s M.O., the action in Haven will revolve around a spooky Maine town populated by cursed individuals who attempt to live a normal life, essentially exiling themselves from the rest of the human population. But when their curses start returning, the feds send in Special Agent Audrey Parker to deal with it. According to Wikipedia, the...

The same production team that brought The Dead Zone to television screens is teaming up with Stephen King once more. This time, showrunner Scott Shepherd and executive producers Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller will adapt King's novella The Colorado Kid for E1 Entertainment, the studio behind Hung. The product will be Haven, an hour-long episodic series taking place in "a spooky town in Maine where cursed folk live normal lives in exile." The Colorado Kid is notable in King's recent catalog. (Notable to some as being bad, it must be said.) It was published by Hard Case Crime in 2005. The label publishes old, out of print novels by known hard-boiled crime authors, and new work by the same writers and other notable names. King's novella gave the imprint a boost, and was also something different for him. The book is essentially a long non-mystery told by two old newspapermen to...

The project centers on a spooky town in Maine where cursed folk live normal lives in exile. When those curses start returning, FBI agent Audrey Parker is brought in to keep those supernatural forces at bay -- while trying to unravel the mysteries of Haven . The article points out that Scott Shepherd will serve as showrunner and exec produce with Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller, all three of whom were exec producers on USA Network's version of The Dead Zone . Two more Dead Zone alumni, Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, are writing the pilot and will also serve as exec producers. More when we hear it!
