Born Bonita Shawe in the United Kingdom, she is a British dancer who
became a successful theatre producer and director.
She was married to Nigel Lythgoe, director/co-creator/executive producer of So You Think You Can Dance (2005), between 1974 to 2007. They have two sons, Simon Lythgoe and Kristopher Lythgoe, along with four grandchildren: Kyan, Tighe, Dominie and George.
In 1969, she auditioned for BBC's "Young Generation" dance troupe, where she met her future husband, Nigel. She was a member of the troupe until Nigel became it's choreographer. Bonnie eventually became a successful choreographer.
