Exclusive: Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman, Switched at Birth alum Vanessa Marano, Natasha Henstridge, James Lastovic, and Annabel Barrett are set to star in This Game’s Called Murder, an indie thriller written and directed by Adam Sherman.
The pic is being described as an absurdist story full of violence, betrayal, and sex set in a world ruled by technology and social media. It’s a modern, dark-humored tale of greed, romance, and lost innocence in consumer-crazed, alienated society that functions as a harsh critique of society today without taking itself too seriously.
Sherman and Hagai Shaham are producing the project, which is shooting in and around Los Angeles.
Perlman, known for FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Amazon’s Hand of God, and the Hellboy features, will next be seen in the Hulu series Reprisal opposite Abigail Spencer. He...

See images and the trailer from Jacob Estes' The Details, starring Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert, Laura Linney and Anna Friel. The Radius TWC release opens on November 2nd, 2012 in theaters, but you can catch in via VOD on October 5th. With such a cast, it's worth the pre-theatrical investment, I would think. Jacob Estes directs and scripts the comedy which is produced by Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Hagai Shaham. After ten years of marriage, Jeff and Nealy Lang (Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks) have an idyllic suburban home… and a relationship on the skids. But, when a family of hungry raccoons ransacks their perfectly manicured backyard, Jeff becomes single-mindedly obsessed with eradicating the pests by any means necessary. Soon the relentless rodents aren’t merely uprooting the lawn.

Hulu is gearing up for battle. The online TV service launches its first original scripted series, Battleground, on Tuesday, February 14, and will continue to roll out new episodes every Tuesday over the next several weeks. The show, created by Jd Walsh, takes a comedic faux documentary-style look at a group of campaign workers in the battleground state of Wisconsin. Jay Hayden stars as Chris "Tak" Davis, the manager of a distant third-place Senate candidate, while Ben Samuel, Teri Reeves and Alison Haislip also star. Hulu has produced 13 episodes of the 22-minute comedy, which also comes from executive producers Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spiderman) and Hagai Shaham. Walsh and Webb answered TV Guide Magazine's showrunner survey in the hopes of earning your viewership vote.

[1] As Netflix makes its first foray [2] into original programming with Lilyhammer, competitor Hulu has entered the fray as well, with workplace mockumentary Battleground. Directed by actor J.D. Walsh (Two and a Half Men) and produced by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Hagai Shaham (The Details), Battleground centers around a lively group of campaign workers in Wisconsin who labor to get their third-place candidate into the Senate. Watch the trailer after the jump. [via Mashable [3]] Though the Ides of March-y premise has potential, especially in a big election year, I'm feeling lukewarm about the actual trailer. It doesn't look bad, but it also doesn't look like anything special -- I see a lot of well-worn cliches about the difficulties of balancing work and family. It's hard to gauge a series' quality based on such a short clip, though, so I'll reserve judgment until I actually see the first episode. All thirteen 22-minute...

Last week, fans were treated to the premiere of Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" video. The sleek, dark look at celebrity life was a new aesthetic for the star, who hooked up with Jonas Åkerlund on the clip.
While her dance scenes were choreographed by Brian Friedman, it was noted Hollywood martial-arts expert Steven Ho who helped Britney work out the moves to battle herself in the video.
"I've been very fortunate to have worked on a wide range of high-profile projects, and the video's producer, Hagai Shaham, thought my style would be a good fit with Jonas and Britney. I was brought in to train Britney, choreograph the fight and set up wires for the levitation shots," he told...

#06. The Details - Jacob Aaron Estes After no mention of the film during the 2010 film festival calendar year, my hunch is Jacob Aaron Estes might unveil The Details as a highly sought-after acquisitions title for back to back festivals located in Park City and Berlin. It would be a return to the place that helped launched his career - Estes premiered Mean Creek in Sundance back in '04. In his long awaited and highly anticipated sophomore feature we find Sundance alumni in Elizabeth Banks, Tobey Maguire and Laura Linney. This shot in Seattle comedy, begins with raccoons. The very morning after Jeff (Maguire) completed his perfect garden with newly laid turf, he wakes up to find it in total disarray, with each strip of grass flipped over as if he had been singled out by some kind of lawn terrorist… And things are not going great with his wife Nealy (Banks) either.

I was smitten by Estes' psychological accuracy in Mean Creek, a damn fine rendering of pre-teenage youth and I'm looking forward to his treatment of damaged souls with this dark comedy. From coming of age to grown-ups that have more growing up to do, this might be a pleasurable domestic tale a la Todd Field's Little Children. - #35. - At the beginning of every month, Ioncinema.com's "Tracking Shot" features six projects that are moments away from lensing and that we feel are worth signaling out. This August (2009), we are keeping tabs on: a Canadian financed pic with top tier talent, that for the next weeks becomes known as the film that the radiant Rachelle Lebevre committed to and which annoyed Summit Ent., the re-appearance of The Details (it receives a second life), three French filmmakers (Julie Bertucelli, Fabienne Berthaud) on their sophomore efforts and Guillaume Canet on pic number three and finally, master filmmaker Mike Leigh is getting set for his latest project for Focus Features. Noteworthy films that we'll also be keeping tabs on is the remakes for Straw Dogs and Larry Clark's Mona Lisa (I heard that funding was a problem) and Oliver Stone's Money Never Sleeps - the sequel to Wall Street.

- Production Weekly had the leg up on Variety reporting that James McAvoy and Laura Linney had joined Jacob Estes sophomore film, today, Variety fills in blanks and tells us that actresses Elizabeth Banks and Brit Anna Friel (who is set for William Monahan's London Boulevard) have joined the black comedy which concerns a couple, to be played by McAvoy and Banks, who discover an infestation of racoons in their back yard. Disagreements over how to deal with the animals lead to an escalating series of events. If we think back to Mean Creek (a drama that in my estimation was one of the best debuts of 04') – this is a sign that tells us that Estes might be drawn to human dramas that draw upon several POVs. The script is not an original from Estes, but rather, a script he came across while working on a rewrite for
