The Law of Cage states that for every good movie he makes, Nicolas Cage must then act in four or five bad ones. Now that Brian Taylor’s insane Mom & Dad and Panos Cosmatos’ festival favorite Mandy have gotten good notices, it means that the hairpiece-abusing Nic is due for some duds soon. 211, from director York Alec Shackleton, is thankfully not a massive fail, but it’s still definitely low-level Cage. Based on a real incident known as the Battle of North Hollywood – a prolonged shootout between police and armed robbers that ended with high casualties and millions’ worth of property damage – the film casts Cage as Officer Mike Chandler, who, during a routine patrol with a ride along, gets caught in a...

"Shots fired! Shots fired!" Momentum Pictures has released the official trailer for an action thriller titled 211, or #211, which is a reference to the police code "211" - meaning a robbery in progress. Inspired by one of the "longest and bloodiest bank heists in history", the film is described as a combination of End of Watch meets Black Hawk Down. Does it look like that description? See for yourself below. Nicolas Cage stars as a police officer who takes a civilian on a ride along, then gets caught up in this violent bank robbery heist. In addition to Cage, it also stars Cory Hardrict, Michael Rainey Jr., Ori Pfeffer, Weston Cage, Sophie Skelton and Alexandra Dinu. This looks like an all-out, action-packed, very intense bank robbery movie. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for York Alec Shackleton's 211, direct from YouTube: A film inspired by one of the longest and bloodiest real-life events in police history.

Imagine showing up to an Alamo Drafthouse theater in Austin, Texas, with you and your friends all prepared to sit for twelve straight hours and watch a marathon of Nicolas Cage movies. It'd be pretty cool to find out that Cage himself chose which movies of his that you were going to watch that day, but it'd be straight-up legendary for Cage himself to appear in the flesh and randomly read Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" before sitting down and watching all five movies with you. That's exactly what happened yesterday at C4GED, Alamo Drafthouse's fourth annual Cage movie marathon celebration, and while we weren't in the room, there are some official videos that make us feel like we were.
Here's the full intro where Cage surprises the crowd:
Here's a long Q&A that includes some pretty amazing moments:

At this point, Nicolas Cage movies fall into a few basic categories. You’ve got your occasional big-budget projects (Type One), your quirky indie things (Type Two), and then you’ve got those movies where Cage stands on a soundstage somewhere in Eastern Europe and points guns at people (Type Three). Connoisseurs of the latter category are in luck today, with Deadline reporting that Cage has signed on for 211, a new, Bulgaria-shot bank heist movie from director York Alec Shackleton. Cage will play a cop trying to stop a bank robbery, presumably through a combination of fascinating acting choices, bizarre hair, and shouting.
The actor currently has a Cage-standard ton of movies in the works; his recent projects include The Humanity Bureau (Type Two), Vengeance: A Love Story (Type Three), and the upcoming “killer parents” thriller Mom And Dad (also Three, but probably with a greater than average amount ...
