It’s showtime! Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jerry Buss and the rest of the Lakers squad is back for a second season of “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.”
Viewers got to get a glimpse into executive producer Adam McKay’s portrayal of the Lakers golden era and the drama that came with it. This time around fans will get to see even more of the Lakers legacy. Newcomers are stepping onto the court as guest stars, including Joel Allen as Kurt Rambis, Jay Davis as Byron Scott, Quentin Shropshire as James Worthy, Matthew Barnes as Mitch Kupchak, Darryl Reynolds as Robert Parish, Andrew Stephens as Kevin McHale and Larry C. Fields III as Eddie Jordan.
The show announced on Aug. 24, 2022 that it started production, and it’s making its return on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

HBO is bringing the Showtime Lakers to the scripted arena with “Showtime,” Variety has confirmed.
The series, which has received a pilot order at the cabler, hails from Adam McKay, who will direct. “Showtime” will be based on Jeff Pearlman’s non-fiction book “Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s.”

Alright, this story is sports-related but Bear With Me, non-sportzies (can I call you non-sportzies? The Z is a letter of affection!) It’s universally amusing and tragic. The final pick in this year’s NBA draft was a college player named Isaiah Thomas, who, as anyone from the NBA Jam era knows, shares his name with retired Detroit Pistons Hall-of-Famer Isaiah Thomas. So you’d assume (foreshadowing for opposite!) that his parents were big Pistons fans, right? Or maybe his dad lost a bet the year he was born: Thomas came by his name through his father’s misfortune. James Thomas grew up in Inglewood, Calif., where the Lakers played their games at the Forum. Golf enthusiasts will be swinging for more than just a hole in one when they hit the links July 11 as the Frank Nelson Memorial Sick and Benefit Fund hosts its second annual Celebrity Golf Classic. The fund is a nonprofit arm of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the AFTRA Foundation and provides emergency financial aid to AFTRA members. Last year's golf tournament raised more than $30,000 for the fund.Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott will host this year's fundraiser at the Mountain Gate Country Club in Los Angeles, where participants will get to play 18 holes of golf. Participants can bid for a spot on Scott's foursome for the event. To enter the auction, go to www.charitybuzz.com. There will also be silent auctions, live auction prizes, and a hole-in-one competition to win a Jaguar Xf.
