The penultimate episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was the most shocking episode of the series to date, culminating with Jadis’ (Pollyanna McIntosh) death.
It was a storyline that had been in the works for years, but Jadis lost her life after playing quite the cat-and-mouse game with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Monsters and Critics was fortunate enough to chat with Pollyanna about her time on The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
Check out the full interview below.
Monsters and Critics: I watched this episode multiple times. It’s just one of those episodes you don’t get very often. Not a single scene is wasted.
Since you left the main series, fans have wanted a resolution for Jadis. We also saw you on World Beyond, but The Ones Who Live brought this arc full circle.

Lennie James has been a part of The Walking Dead universe since The Walking Dead Season 1 Episode 1 in the role of Morgan Jones.
However, his journey with the franchise concluded on Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6, an hour that sent one of the franchise's best characters in an exciting new direction.
Speaking with TV Fanatic exclusively, Lennie revealed that his final episode was taxing on him physically because the show put Morgan through everything he's ever been through all over again.
If you watch Fear the Walking Dead online, you know we witnessed Morgan as he had lapses in memory, a callback to his journey on The Walking Dead.
"There was one point where I was hanging off of a crane above a hole that had been dug in the ground that was filled with fake mud up to my neck," James said with a laugh.

Kim Dickens returned as Madison to finish her story arc in the final two seasons of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. Kim tells CineMovie she was thrilled to be asked back although executive producers Ian Goldberg and Michael E. Satrazemis feared she would tell them to "fly a kite' before approaching her. AMC brought Fear the Walking Dead and the new The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City to the 2023 WonderCon held March 24-26 in Anaheim, CA. AMC used the WonderCon panel to debut the season eight trailer, and the network also released a new poster and photos online. The long goodbye has begun: Fear the Walking Dead dropped a trailer for the eighth and final season of the AMC prequel.
To help promote the upcoming season, co-showrunner Ian Goldberg and Executive Producer Michael Satrazemis — together with cast members Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman and Christine Evangelista –appeared at WonderCon today. The biggest scoop about the season 8 was revealed by Goldberg, who said it will include a seven-year time jump.
Goldberg reflected on the season ending and enduring fanbase for the series. “It feels surreal; it’s amazing to be making season 8 of this show, and only because, at this point, everybody knows that this will be our final season,” Goldberg said. “Thank you so much; you are the best fans in the world, we made this show for you, and we’re so honored that we’ve been able to tell these stories for such a long time.”

Last month, AMC announced that the eighth season of Fear the Walking Dead, which is set to begin airing on May 14th, will be the final season. Now cinematographer David Morrison has taken to Instagram to mark the fact that filming is underway on the series finale. Morrison said, “Been looking forward to this for a while. AMC and AMC+ have set a Sunday, May 14, 2023 premiere date for the eighth – and final – season of Fear the Walking Dead. The network also announced the new The Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, will premiere this June, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is expected to debut later this year.
The Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira spin-off will begin shooting this year. The network’s targeting a 2024 premiere for Rick Grimes and Michonne’s spinoff series.
Per AMC: “This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before?...

AMC will continue its Walking Dead franchise into 2024 — which will mark the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira to the brand.
The cable outlet has set a release slate for the next four shows in its Walking Dead universe, beginning with the eighth — and final, AMC says — season of Fear the Walking Dead on May 14. It will be followed by a June premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, and the Norman Reedus-led The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon later in the year.

One of my favorite things about interviews is seeing things in a new light from the cast and creatives who bring entertainment to life.
From my perspective, tales of the Walking Dead "Blair/Gina" is a beautiful addition to the Twd universe.
As much as I enjoyed it and saw the symmetry between Blair and Gina, speaking with Parker Posey offers insight into the characters and story that only someone on the inside could provide.
Parker dove into The Walking Dead universe without any background. Well, very little by way of experience, anyway.
Parker hasn't watched The Walking Dead or its offshoots for many reasons, including her fear of things that go bump in the dark and her desire to watch programming from start to finish without interruption.

This article contains spoilers for Tales of the Walking Dead episode 2.
One of the things Tales of the Walking Dead co-creator Channing Powell promised fans was something different. Powell said in an interview with Den of Geek that the show would “push the boundaries of the universe” and that the show “wanted to present a new option” for fans of long-running zombie television series The Walking Dead and its various spinoff properties. Given the sheer breadth of the franchise’s offerings, from the many web-only minisodes to the Talking Dead chat show to wrap up the night, that’s quite a task.
Just consider The Walking Dead itself. The show has clearly explored every element of horror short of extraterrestrial, from cities overrun with zombies akin to the best of George Romero to roving tribes of cannibals straight out of 1970’s Italy to body horror that would make Cronenberg jealous.

Just like the show’s many fans, the cast and creatives behind “The Walking Dead” are feeling pretty bittersweet about the impending end of the show — the final run of 8 episodes will launch on AMC Sunday, Oct. 2.
The panel was hosted, as always with “The Walking Dead” Sdcc presentations, by Chris Hardwick, who set the tone with a partly joking, partly teary eyed remembrance of his own “The Walking Dead” history.
Noting the “bittersweet moment where I introduce our ‘Walking Dead’ family as an official show” for the final time, he also said “I’m trying to not get choked up, because this should be a celebration. Most shows don’t get to last this long, this is rarified television.”
“This show is literally one of the biggest shows in the history of cable. Everywhere I got [I speak to people about it] and they feel like family,” he added.

Though Rick Grimes was whisked away from Alexandria in a helicopter last fall, Andrew Lincoln has remained committed to The Walking Dead franchise. Not only is he due to lead his own movie trilogy, but the actor also promised that he’d return to the set of the show to direct an episode of season 10.
“I’m going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year,” Lincoln revealed a year ago. He did so, too, as he worked with director Michael E. Satrazemis on season 9, episode 12 “Guardians.” However, it seems the star will have to put his filmmaking aspirations on hold for the moment as it’s been announced he won’t be directing for season 10, after all.
Entertainment Weekly broke the news, citing that “schedules could not be aligned.” They did confirm, however, that another ex-star of the series will be helming an episode instead.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news, citing that “schedules could not be aligned.” They did confirm, however, that another ex-star of the series will be helming an episode instead.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 5
At first blush, an episode like “The End of Everything” might only exist as connective tissue between Fear the Walking Dead and the upcoming Rick Grimes movies. But in actuality, “Everything” is an emotionally rich and complex story that examines two strangers and the shifting balance of power between them. By hour’s end, Michael E. Satrazemis, directing a script penned by showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, delivers one of this season’s stronger episodes, one that isn’t afraid to linger by a campfire or ponder life’s bigger questions as characters try to survive in a world filled with walking death.
It’s good to see Maggie Grace back in action after a three-episode hiatus.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of the Season 9 midseason finale episode of The Walking Dead.
Jesus is dead, Daryl is back, the Whisperers are here (and in killing mode), Alexandra is isolated from all the other communities and The Walking Dead has hit another ratings low with its midseason finale in a Season 9 that has already seen several lows.
While up 8% among adults 18-49 and 6% in overall viewers from last week’s series low “Stradivarius “episode, Sunday’s “Evolution” show was the lowest rated and least watched midseason finale for the AMC zombie apocalypse series ever.
Snagging a 2.0 rating and an audience of 5.1 million, the airing that saw the fatal stabbing of Tom Payne’s character was down a very hard 43% in the demo from the previous midseason finale rock bottom of Season 2. That November 27, 2011 “Pretty Much Dead Already” episode pulled in 6.62 million sets of eyeballs and was the...

The Walking Dead's little zombie brother is starting to walk on its own. Fear the Walking Dead season 5 is now underway on AMC.
It's been a tumultuous year for Fear the Walking Dead. This season saw the arrival of Morgan Jones (played by Lennie James) from The Walking Dead universe's flagship show. The show then made numerous other high profile additions to the cast, including Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, and Jenna Elfman.
To thin out the crowd after all the new arrivals, Fear the Walking Dead killed two main characters who had been around since day one: Madison (Kim Dickens) and Nick (Frank Dillane). The violent, unpredictable world of the zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead has always meant that the shows...

It's been a while since The Walking Dead delivered an episode as fundamentally entertaining as this week's installment, titled "Dead or Alive Or." Yes, the show's still committed to a bleak and tedious war story for probably the rest of this season; no, it doesn't seem like these characters are ever going to stop whispering soberly about their competing philosophies of survival. But you know what this hour had? Swamp zombies! Forward plot momentum! Plus, Father Gabriel doing his best Zatoichi impression. It's great whenever the writers remember that Twd...

The Walking Dead season 9 continues after an explosive midseason finale that saw Daryl, Michonne, Jesus, Eugene, and a few newcomers come face to face with the Whisperers, a deadly new group that will challenge the heroes' notions about the outside world. Not everything has evolved for the better.
These zombie-flesh-wearing stalkers haunt the lands beyond Alexandria, Hilltop, and Kingdom and introduce a challenge to the survivors unlike any they've ever faced. Can Michonne, Daryl, Tara, Carol, Ezekiel, and the rest of this eternally suffering family come together to fight a common enemy? Time will tell! Well, you can’t say we weren’t warned.
Throughout AMC’s summer-long marketing campaign for The Walking Dead, everyone from Andrew Lincoln to series showrunner Scott Gimple warned viewers that season 8 contained some of the biggest and most soul-crushing deaths in the show’s history. And last night, “How It’s Gotta Be” delivered in spades.
Truth be told, season 8’s super-sized mid-season finale wasn’t without its flaws – barring the final few moments, the Michael Satrazemis-directed episode struggled to keep its audience on tenterhooks – but thanks to ComicBook.com, lead star Andrew Lincoln has now shared his reaction to last night’s gut-wrenching twist.
Fair warning: Lincoln’s response strays far into spoiler territory, even if the actor uses a pseudonym when referring to that character.

There's rarely a reason for a television show to go longer than its typical running time. If it's a show like Game Of Thrones, who are making miniature movies and trying to cram a significant amount of material into a shorter amount of time, it makes sense. If you're a show like The Walking Dead, there's not a lot of need to go past the usual running time because there's going to be plenty of opportunities to tell the rest of the story in future episodes. Back in the fall of 2015, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple attempted a noble, not-all-that-successful experiment with narrative structure. To wit: The show would be spending an entire half-season – eight full episodes – tracking just a couple of days in the life of Rick Grimes, as he and his associates tried and failed to secure the Alexandria Safe-Zone from a nearby walker horde. This season, Gimple gave this concept another go. The fall premiere began with the good guys leading a multi-front assault on Negan, the Saviors and all their scattered compounds.

There's an obsession on The Walking Dead. The world around the characters is full of death, literally and figuratively. They've seen people die of misadventure, murder, zombies, and influenza. Everyone they know, excepting a few dozen people, has died before their eyes. And yet, they want their deaths to mean something when even in this world where heroes exist, death usually means nothing. Someone screws up and leaves a door unlocked. Someone sneezes or gets a cut from a rusty nail. Someone looks at Negan or another Savior the wrong way. Is a meaningful death any better than, say, not dying in a pointless suicide mission?

Have The Walking Dead's writers become convinced that fans won't want to see anything cool or exciting unless the heroes have hashed out their feelings first – at length, and in multiple scenes? Yes, for all of the gory walker-kills on display, the show is extremely, conspicuously talky. On occasion, however, the ponderousness pays off. In this week's episode – "The Other Side" – Rosita and Sasha share a genuinely warm and moving moment, mere hours before they charge into the Sanctuary to their near-certain deaths. Neither character has really gotten the screen-time they deserve this season.

The Walking Dead is a show that's depended a lot on its ability to cleverly execute a very specific type of arc. Not everyone lives, and new characters replace old friends, but the core of the show remains the same. Rick pulls his group together, everyone rallies, and some obstacle is overcome. Some things change, but the ultimate finish is the same.

There's a lot to unpack in any given Walking Dead episode, but let's never forget that this show is, on a very primal level, about killing zombies. Creator Robert Kirkman was inspired by George Romero's Dead movies, which tell complex tales of desperate human survival, and also feature some of the wickedest, goriest moments in motion picture history. So it goes with Twd. The TV series has lately been exploring incredibly dark themes, regarding the ruthless exercise of power and the fate of societies which lose touch with their values.

A brief interview with The Walking Dead's Melissa McBride about the many turning points of her character, Carol Peletier...
We are quite the fans of Melissa McBride’s portrayal of Carol, here at Den of Geek, and we're clearly not alone. Since her evolution from battered housewife to one-woman army, she’s become one of the best and most popular characters on The Walking Dead.
Now more than ever though, Carol’s future looks dangerously uncertain – if she’s intent on not killing (as much as the Saviors will allow) then surely her place in The Walking Dead universe could have reached its natural conclusion… here’s hoping that’s not the case though and she has at least one more Rambo-esque chance to save the day in spectacular style.
As it happens Melissa McBride is quite uncomfortable doing press, for whatever reason, but her concerns...

The Walking Dead sets up next week's season 6 finale with a series of solo missions that put everyone in real peril...

6.15 East
After a bit of a down episode last week, The Walking Dead recovers strongly with a great episode that offers many different potential season finales, none of which I'm really looking forward to because it seems as though someone I like is going to die. The one thing you can say about the show during Scott Gimple's reign is that they're not shy about putting anyone and everyone at risk. The end result might not always be satisfying (ahem, Glenn and the dumpster), but it's effective and horrifying to see people we've grown to care about, fan favourites, put in peril.
Carol has escaped the friendly confines of Alexandria, and it appears that she's run into trouble thanks to the cold opening,...

One mediocre episode doesn't detract what has been a great half season of The Walking Dead, but it's still a disappointment...
This review contains spoilers.
6.8 Start To Finish
One of the best things about dying on The Walking Dead is that you always get a lot to say before you shamble off the mortal coil and find your way to your shallow, post-apocalyptic grave. That usually works out really well for the actors, who get to do something dramatic and capture a lot of attention, and it's typically fun for the writers, because they get to write up some sort of dramatic or emotionally resonant dialogue where a dying person conveys some truth to a still-living person. The Walking Dead, Season 6, Episode 8, “Start to Finish”
Written by Matthew Negrete
Directed by Michael E. Satrazemis
Airs Sundays at 9pm (Et) on AMC
“Start to Finish” is essentially when the survivors of Alexandria have to finally stop and ask: Is this place really worth it? Deanna is correct that in life you have to literally earn everything you want, and “Start to Finish” shows whether Rick and company want Alexandria and if they feel they can save it at all. After all when one wall comes down, how in the world will it be propped back up and repaired without attracting more of the herd with it to bring it all down again?
I was about half right with my predictions for “Start to Finish.” Just as I figured, Deanna played the martyr for Alexandria, effectively handing the keys over to Rick Grimes and giving everyone a stern talking...
