Ukrainian Punk Band Rerecords the Clash Classic as ‘Kyiv Calling’: ‘A Symbol of Solidarity and Hope’
A Ukrainian punk band has rerecorded the Clash’s classic “London Calling” as a protest song and a resistance anthem against the Russian invasion.
Beton, a punk-hardcore trio, received permission from the surviving members of the Clash before recording “Kyiv Calling,” which changes the lyrics of the 1979 single as a call-to-action to fellow Ukrainians and the rest of the world. The track was recorded in a studio in Lviv, Ukraine on March 17 and 18, the same day Russians fired missiles at the city that’s become a hub for displaced citizens.

Ronnie Wood is recording a solo album inspired by his marriage split. The Rolling Stones guitarist is working alone for the first time in eight years, and is drawing on the end of his 23-year marriage to wife Jo Wood for inspiration. A source said: "Ronnie had a pretty turbulent year breaking up with Jo and finding new love with Ekaterina Ivanova so he's got plenty to write about on his new record." Ronnie's album, which is being produced by former Black Grape guitarist Danny Saber and features Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, is due for release later this year. The 63-year-old rocker's marriage to Jo ended when he fled to Ireland for a 10-day drinking binge with...

It Happened In Hollywood Last Night is our new column about the Night World of our City of Fallen Angels.
British rock musician and vocalist Harry "the Dog" Bridgen unveiled his new All-Star Traveling Soul Circus after a spirited introduction by Bai Ling, at the Unknown Theater on Seward in Hollywood (a cool and spacious theater, complete with bar area, all hidden behind a single door. As they said in Swingers, "It sort of has a speakeasy feel." )

Joining the band on guitar was musician-actress Jenny McShane (below), who has starred in the Shark Attack series of films, along with Furnace and The Watcher, opposite Keanu Reeves.

Some of the many colorful guitars Jenny played were Gibson USA custom guitars.
