Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian’s 12-year-old son, Revel, lived out a rock star fantasy by jamming out with Foo Fighters on “Everlong.”
In a video of the jam session filmed by Anthrax (and Pantera) drummer, Charlie Benante, Revel can be seen playing Pat Smear’s Les Paul alongside Dave Grohl and rest of Foo Fighters, chugging out a guitar part for the beloved tune. Ian posted the clip on Wednesday with the caption: “Rev gave Pat the day off. He deserves it.“
Continuing, Ian expressed his gratitude for Smear and the rest of Foo Fighters. “He’s the nicest guy ever,” he wrote. “All of these dudes are. I love you Foos. There, I said it.” Ian then closed out his message with “#hugs.”
Revel previously appeared on-stage with Foo Fighters in September 2019, performing “Everlong” during their headlining set at the Bourbon & Beyond Fest in Louisville, Kentucky. Last year, Revel...

Dave Grohl is just like many post-1960s musicians — The Beatles greatly influenced him. The early songs Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrote together helped change the direction of pop music forever. Grohl said his favorite Beatles song was the Lennon tune “Hey Bulldog,” but he praised all the band members for their contributions.
Dave Grohl said ‘Hey Bulldog’ was his favorite Beatles song and praised the entire band’s contributions
There’s no shortage of songs to choose a favorite Fab Four tune. The band covered miles of ground during their relatively short career. They produced saccharine pop tunes, R&b numbers, folk-tinged tunes, experimental rock, and more.
Foo Fighters frontman Grohl bypassed the usual biggies — “A Day in the Life,” “Come Together,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Hey Jude” — when choosing his favorite Beatles song. The former Nirvana drummer picked the tossed-off John song “Hey Bulldog” because of the contributions from...

After headlining himself last year, Paul McCartney returned to Glastonbury in 2023 as a spectator. And by all accounts, he had one hell of a time.
McCartney was seen watching several of the weekend’s performances from the side of the stage. On Friday, he took in Foo Fighters’ surprise set. On Saturday, he watched as Guns N’ Roses covered Wings’ “Live and Let Die.” And on Sunday, he was capturing his own cell phone video of Elton John performing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”
Macca also briefly popped up on stage during Pretenders’ Saturday set, where he gave the crowd a quick wave. He hung out backstage with Chrissie Hynde, posed for a photo with Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese (and Pat Smear), and even took in a sun set with his wife Nancy Shevell.

Foo Fighters will learn to fly again as a band, announcing over the weekend that they have found an official replacement for late drummer Taylor Hawkins in prolific snare smasher Josh Freese.
The Foo Fighters unveiled Freese as their new drummer in a typically humorous video over the weekend as part of their live stream event, Preparing Music for Concerts. The video starts off with a (nearly) full band chat, which gets constantly interrupted by cameo appearances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey. Tired of the nonsense, Freese requests that the band–including lead singer Dave Grohl, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel–you know, play some songs. Agreeing, the Foos rip into “All My Life.”

One of the most exciting collaborations in the 2010s was when Paul McCartney teamed up with the remaining members of Nirvana. While Nirvana was a legendary band of the 90s, the grunge-rock band couldn’t compare with the iconic status of The Beatles. So, it makes perfect sense that Nirvana’s bass guitarist Krist Novoselic was horrified of playing with Sir Paul.

In 2012, Foo Fighters’ lead singer and former Nirvana member, Dave Grohl, invited Paul McCartney to collaborate on a track for his 2013 documentary Sound City. The song is titled “Cut Me Some Slack”, and McCartney performed lead vocals. In an interview with DIY, McCartney said Grohl hadn’t informed him the other Nirvana members would be there, so McCartney had no idea who he was playing with.

Many artists can only dream about having the opportunity to work with Paul McCartney. Fortunately, the former Beatle is open to collaborating with other artists, and many of these projects have been quite successful. Paul McCartney’s collaborations might not have produced the same magic with other artists that he did with John Lennon, but he still created fantastic music that had commercial success.

Nirvana was one of the most popular bands of the 1990s, but their meteoric rise halted following the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain. The band disbanded after that, and many wondered if the grunge group would reunite. In 2012, Paul McCartney was fortunate enough to play in a Nirvana reunion with Dave Grohl, but he had no idea he was playing with the original band members.

The Grammys always pay tribute to the great musicians who died in the past year, but one tribute hit especially hard this year because the pain is still so fresh: the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Ahead of the annual “In Memoriam” segment, Grammys host Trevor Noah took to the stage on Sunday to celebrate the life of Hawkins, who passed away suddenly last week at the age of 50. “Our thoughts go out to Taylor’s family, his friends, the Foo Fighter family and all of their fans around the globe,” Noah said. The Foo Fighters play themselves in this vanity project horror-comedy, directed by Bj McDonnell (Hatchet III). Die-hard fans of the band will enjoy seeing their heroes on the big screen, but for everyone else it’s a mildly amusing, occasionally tedious outing that’s better at serving up gore than it is at delivering laughs.
Set in the present day, the film opens with Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl deciding that he wants to do something special for their upcoming tenth album, so he persuades the band to record in a Hollywood mansion that was once the site of another band’s grisly demise. If you ever wanted to hang out with the Foo Fighters, and get killed by them, there’s only one game in town: “Studio 666,” a goofy horror comedy that, if nothing else, seems to have given the Foo Fighters a time-consuming little project to help get them through the pandemic.
The whole movie exists to waste a few hours away, chilling with one of the most popular rock bands in the world as they share their love of scary movies, act like dorks and eat an alarming number of Doritos.
“Studio 666” stars, in descending order of screen time, the Foo Fighters, Doritos snack chips, and Whitney Cummings. There are so many Doritos on-screen throughout “Studio 666” that we can only imagine that either a lot of money has changed hands or, like Joan Crawford before them, at least one of these so-called “fighters of foo” married into the...

Don’t be fooled: the Foo Fighters’ “Studio 666” is not some extended music video gimmick put out by Dave Grohl and company. It’s a real horror movie with a legit runtime, a plot and a script. And though they’re amazed the movie actually got finished and exists, Grohl isn’t fooling himself that they’re suddenly real actors either.
“First of all, it wasn’t that much of a stretch to be the Foo Fighters. You throw us backstage in a room, and we are a comedy troupe everywhere we go, that’s just what happens, for the last quarter of a century,” Grohl told TheWrap in an interview, the second part of which will be published Thursday. “And nobody is going for an Oscar here, by the way. "This is not just a creepy rock 'n roll house... It allows spiritual entities to cross into our world." Ahhhh this is so gross! Open Road has dropped off another official red band trailer this week for the release of Studio 666, slaying theaters next week. We've featured two other trailers before. Legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock & roll history to record their 10th album. "The trouble is, frontman Dave Grohl is creatively blocked, and when evil forces in the house sink into his consciousness, the creative juices begin flowing but so does the blood. Can Foo Fighters' complete the album, with the band still alive to tour?" Starring Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, plus Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, Jeff Garlin. This is the craziest trailer yet! So much totally nasty gore in here.

Dave Grohl hasn’t sat still for more than 30 years, so it’s not much of a surprise that he’s ended up creating and starring in his own feature film.
As Pat Smear, one of the founders of L.A. punk legends The Germs, touring guitarist in Nirvana and a cornerstone of Grohl’s Foo Fighters, told him, “Drummers are like sharks, if they stop moving, they’ll die.”
In Studio 666, a horror comedy in the vein of The Evil Dead, perpetual movement doesn’t necessarily prevent death either. (Watch the trailer below.)
Grohl, who came up with the idea of the Open Road Films-distributed film that debuts theatrically on February 25, is a fascinating creature.

Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis does some freelance coaching in the new Foo Fighters music video for “Love Dies Young,” a song from the band’s latest album Medicine at Midnight.
The coach in the new video is actually sort of an anti-Lasso – for starters, he’s seemingly Eastern or maybe Central European and coaches synchronized swimming, not to mention he’s gross and badgering rather than homespun and inspiring. But the actor’s appearance can’t help but remind of his hit Apple TV+ series.
Sudeikis’ performance takes up nearly three minutes of music-free video before the Foo Fighters song makes its entrance, with the faces of Dave Grohl (who also directs) and his bandmates superimposed onto the synchronized swimmers.
Grohl’s underwater appearance also summons memories of the Nevermind album cover by that band he was in some time ago. And the end of the video with Pat Smear...

“It’s times like these you learn to live again,” Dave Grohl sang Tuesday night, with clenched emotion, at the beginning of Foo Fighters’ first concert since a global pandemic snuffed out live music last March. He was backed, at first, only by church-like organ chords from keyboardist Rami Jaffee. As the tempo picked up and the full band slammed into “Times Like These,” with 16 months or so of pent-up energy, the already-sweaty crowd in the Canyon Club in Los Angeles roared, recognizing that a post-9/11 anthem had found new and profound resonance.

The Foo Fighters covered Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” with drummer Taylor Hawkins stepping up front for vocal duties, during a special show at the Canyon Club outside of Los Angeles Tuesday, January 15th.
A fan-shot video from the show finds Hawkins swapping places with frontman Dave Grohl, who takes a seat behind the drums while Hawkins introduces the cover. Dave Grohl has had a lot of memorable Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nights during the past decade. In 2013, he donned a kimono and blond wig to induct Rush and rock out with them on “2112.” The next year, Nirvana entered the Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility and he played their music with Krist Novoselic for the first time since Kurt Cobain died in 1994. The year after that, he jammed with Joan Jett and got stoned out of his mind with her and Miley Cyrus afterward.
