Like many actors, Gosling hit and missed several roles. Of course, the actor has proved his capability with many remarkable roles, including The Notebook and his Oscar-nominated performances in La La Land and Barbie. But the actor also lost several roles in films like Fifty Shades Of Grey, but his audition for Gilmore Girls was reportedly terrible at best.

Ryan Gosling was this close to being on the beloved show “Gilmore Girls” — but he was late to his audition. “I rolled my eyes because he was late, and he was blonde,” casting director Jami Rudofsky said. Rudofsky talked about Gosling’s audition during the show’s Fan Festival in Connecticut over the weekend, according to People, and revealed that Gosling was up for the role of a “football” character. After seeing Gosling perform “in character,” which Rudofsky called “amazing,” he was brought in for a second audition. See Photos: 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' Gets...

Quips, lightning-fast dialogue, and rattled exposition are back in the newly revived “Gilmore Girls.” The former WB/the CW show, which centers on the relationship between a single mom and her teen daughter, is returning with show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, this time on everyone’s favorite binge marathon go-to, Netflix. The series, which originally ended in 2007, saw its cancellation come a season after the exit of its creator, a move that ultimately tanked the series. Netflix, however, looks to reformat the beloved show into four 90-minute movie-type episodes with original stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, and Scott Patterson. The series, cast by Jami Rudofsky, the original casting director, and Risa Bramon Garcia, has yet to acquire another series staple, Melissa McCarthy, for the project. Shooting will start in Los Angeles in early February. Time to book that Warner Bros. tour, as the fictional town from the series, Stars Hollow,...

Robin Lippin on Gerard Butler: I was casting "Attila," the miniseries, and it was an extremely hard role. We had to find someone who could carry the mini and have charisma and yet be able to exude leadership and a barbaric quality. He also had to have an amazing body and good looks (it is TV, after all). Gerry had been referred by the CD in London, and I brought him in. I felt he had it all, but the executive at the time wasn't convinced. He wanted me to keep looking and told me to go to Crunch, the gym where all the hotties worked out. I wanted to die. I mean, this was a powerful role and needed an amazing actor. I think the exec was worried about his accent.I fought really hard for him, and luckily the director and producers were behind him. I even offered to...

Going To Network -- Upon hearing these three words, many budding thespians can't help but imagine a grim sea of suit-clad executives, all staring the new actors down as they attempt to deliver the auditions of their lives, the ones that will catapult them to small-screen fame and add the magic words "series regular" to their résumés. Actors who have been through this process would like to say it's not as nerve-racking as it sounds. But, in many cases, it is. "It's basically the Olympics," says Alexie Gilmore, who was a series regular on the short-lived 2008 series New Amsterdam. "You've got to come in with your top game. You have to be off book; you want to be the best possible." Still, even though the prospect of going to network can be terrifying, it doesn't have to be mysterious. Going to network, simply put, is the final stop in the process of auditioning for pilots.

Casting director Jami Rudofsky has one word of advice for the auditioning actor: relax. "Don't be nervous," she says with a laugh. "I'm a totally regular person. I'm there to help you get the job." Rudofsky can also empathize with the jittery performers sitting across from her: She was once an aspiring actor, studying theatre at UCLA. "About halfway through, I realized that it wasn't the path I wanted to take," she says. "I didn't like auditioning. I knew I wasn't going to be successful as an actress, but I really loved acting, so I wanted to find something that was like it." An internship with CD Vicki Rosenberg (Bones, Joan of Arcadia) set Rudofsky on a new career track. She fell in love with the casting process, started working in the industry the day after graduation, and hasn't looked back. These days she has nearly a decade and a half of casting experience,...
