- David Bowie turned to him when he wanted massive worldwide hit singles. Rodgers delivered and the result was "Let's Dance", which became his biggest ever album in 1983. However, Bowie found this mega success caused him problems, as he was accused of "selling out" by some of his older fans and some critics. He also had problems following the success, with his next two albums, "Tonight" (1984) and "Never Let Me Down" (1987), which used different producers, failing to replicate the success and being widely panned. Bowie later dismissed this period of his career as his lowest artistic phase.
- He is a founding member, with Bernard Edwards, of the R&B band Chic. He is a highly successful musician and music producer. Considered a legend in his own time, Rodgers not only enjoyed huge success in the disco era with Chic, he also produced Madonna's "Like A Virgin" album, David Bowie's biggest album "Let's Dance" (including hits "China Girl", "Let's Dance" and "Modern Love"), Duran Duran's "Notorious", Diana Ross' Diana album, The B-52's, Sister Sledge, Mick Jagger among many, many others.
