Last summer it was announced that Netflix ordered a remake of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. The new series was described as an “epic but grounded science fiction saga focusing on a young explorer family from earth lost in an alien universe and the challenges they face in staying together against seemingly insurmountable odds."
Deadline is now reporting that Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused, Best in Show, Portlandia, Mascots) has signed on to co-star in the series. She is set to play Dr. Smith in the series, who was previously played by Jonathan Harris in the original series. Then Gary Oldman played the character in the 1998 feature film. They are obviously switching things up with the character.
The story will revolve around the Robinson family, "which is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, the Robinsons find themselves battling...

Treasure Island prequel series Black Sails may be preparing to wind down with a fourth and final season over at Starz, but leading man Toby Stephens has already secured his future on the small-screen via Legendary TV and Netflix’s rebooted Lost in Space.

One of the hardest bouts of growing pains experienced by adolescents is that rite of passage known as the high school experience. In high school one is subject to discovering their own sense of self-identity and purpose. In fact, sometimes the social factor is crucial because the cost of belonging in social-related circles is vital in a four-year commitment to belonging among your peers.
The tension is high to belong and get along as your search for excellence in good grades, social interaction and the overall learning experience is important. However, not every youngster can cope with what they are faced as the obstacles to excel are demanding in high school. Hence, the potential to become “an outsider” is inevitable and the unlikeliest label that no one can overcome no matter how much they try.

Co-created by the people who brought us The Bill, here's a peculiar and rather worthy hybrid of fact and fiction – a fake fly-on-the-wall police procedural, starring a former real-life detective chief superintendent (Jane Antrobus). It's certainly plodding and humdrum enough to be authentic – though does chuck in the odd Columbo-style red herring to keep us interested. In this series opener, Di Jane and DS Ben Shaw (Hollyoaks' Ben Hull) investigate the case of an care home resident who's had his money stolen. Ali Catterall

Line Of Duty | Gordon Behind Bars | Coming Here Soon: Greece, Bust And Broken | Ethan Hawke On Macbeth | Hit & Miss | Imagine
Line Of Duty
9pm, BBC2
Vicky McClure, Lennie James and Gina McKee head a cast list so impressive that even the "and Neil Morrissey" at the end doesn't spoil the overall "serious drama" effect. This five-part drama tackles police corruption and it's quickly apparent who the dodgy coppers are, as they're much more interesting than the honest ones. It's off to a fine start: in only a few minutes we're knee-deep in botched police raids, faked reports, unreported crimes and cover-ups. This opening episode lays out the numerous characters efficiently, with a few big twists kept for the end. Phelim O'Neill

Game Of Thrones season 2 is the most pirated TV show of 2012 so far.
According to Big Champagne, a Bit-torrent tracking company, the second season has been downloaded illegally more than 25 million times. In-fact, the episode that aired on the 30th April peaked with more than 2.5 million downloads in one day.
John Robinson, a senior media analyst with Big Champagne told Forbes;
“The fact that it’s consistently at the top of the Pirate Bay’s top one hundred TV show chart seems like a pretty in-your-face leading indicator of the huge volume at which this is being shared.”
One of the reasons for the piracy is due to people finding it difficult to watch the show legally. In America, if you don’t have HBO or don’t subscribe to HBO’s streaming service, you wont see it. In the UK, the show is only shown on Sky Atlantic which...

The Apprentice | Elizabeth Taylor: Auction Of A Lifetime | Beautiful Minds | Decked Out | Sons Of Anarchy | 2012 Olympic Games – 100 Days To Go
The Apprentice
9pm, BBC1
It is hard to decide what is more worrying about The Apprentice: the dodgy calibre of the characters upon whose shoulders our entrepreneurial future apparently rests, or the sheer sadism of those willing to watch them make such excruciating spectacles of themselves. This week, watch between your fingers as the teams pitch dance and weight-based gym programmes to health and fitness chains, with disaster surely in the offing. David Stubbs

Top Gear USA | Terry Gilliam's Faust | Wild Britain With Ray Mears | Spy | Have I Got News For You | Comic Strip Presents – The Hunt For Tony Blair
Top Gear USA

It's not as necessary as it used to be to adopt the brace position upon approaching an American adaptation of a British programme. However, it's hard to imagine Top Gear travelling quite as well. This first series of its American cousin is presented by comedian Adam Ferrara, racing driver Tanner Foust and racing reporter Rutledge Wood. The sci-fi space epic isn’t an uncommon phenomena and, as you probably know, two of the most lucrative franchises of all time fall in the genre. But for every Star Trek or Star Wars you have countless films that don’t measure up or, even worse, put the genre to shame. It really is the norm these days, and the great standalone sci-fi space films like The Fifth Element are few and far between. Now let’s take a closer look at Star Trek, the first sci-fi television serial turned film. Smashing success doesn’t begin to describe the situation, and so the adaptation of similar serials shouldn’t have taken quite as long to follow suit. But follow they did and eventually the classic Lost in Space got its shot, and it doesn’t miss entirely.
It starts by flexing its muscles with a respectably shot space battle...

I should have loved Lost in Space when it debuted on CBS in the fall of 1965. At seven, I was the prime audience for this family adventure about the Robinsons and friends who are literally, hurtling through uncharted territory. Instead, I never warmed up to the show and much preferred ABC’s Batman when that arrived in January 1966. I found the science fiction lacking, the acting over-the-top, and the robot one of the few interesting aspects.
I think I would have preferred the Irwin Allen series had the villainous aspect of Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) remained, rather than using him as a comic foil. Regardless, the series had its following which has led to various revivals as an animated series and even a Bill Mumy-scripted comic during the 1990s. A feature film adaptation seemed inevitable and that’s what we received in 1998. Now, the movie is making its...

Leverage | The Men Who Jump Off Buildings | Californication | Law & Order: Criminal Intent | Justified | My Name is Earl
Leverage
9pm, BravoFormer insurance investigator Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton) is a scrupulously honest man. It's just the venal rich who force him to commit crimes as he bids to right wrongs. Leverage, a frothy Us caper that's Ocean's 11-lite meets Hustle, isn't exactly committed to social realism, but it's energetic and fast-paced. Tonight, the crew reunite to help a whistle-blowing banker. Jw

Doonesbury was the first media source to call tomorrow’s election for Barack Obama. Garry Trudeau delivered strips via the Universal Press Syndicate last Wednesday including one for Wednesday where soldiers in Iraq are seen watching a television where the announcer calls the election for the Illinois Senator.
Newspaper editors around the country have been put in a difficult position considering the pages that normally run the strip tend to close long before the polls. There’s concern of looking silly should Arizona Senator John McCain be declared the victor.
When queried by the Los Angeles Times about this, the comic strip’s creator Garry Trudeau replied, “polling data gives McCain a 3.7% chance of victory. There's a greater risk that their presses will break down on Election Day. So I've been encouraging editors to choose hope over fear. And reminding them that if I'm wrong, it'll be my face that'll be covered with egg,...
