Rodney Allen Rippy is all grown up! The former child star, whose adorable appearances in several classic commercials for Jack in the Box's "Jumbo Jacks" in the '70s made him a household name, is running for mayor of Compton, Calif. The actor gained fame at the age of 6 when he appeared in a spot for the fast food chain trying to sink his little teeth into the mammoth burger and ended up spawning a national catchphrase when he mispronounced the tagline 'It's too big to eat,'" instead saying "It's too big-a-eat!" Rippy became so popular he starred in another ad singing the tune "Take Life a Little Easier," which made it onto the Billboard music charts....

In the 1970s, after McDonald's introduced Ronald but before Wendy's introduced the elderly "Where's the Beef?" lady, the Jack in the Box fast-food chain featured commercials with a cherubic Rodney Allen Rippy, no more than 4, attempting to bite into a Jumbo Jack. Former child star Rodney Allen Rippy is in a critical condition at a North Carolina hospital after he was injured in a dirt biking accident on Monday.
Rippy, who landed a small role in Mel Brooks' 1974 movie classic Blazing Saddles, refused to seek medical attention following the incident, when he was thrown 10 feet (three metres) into the air, but he admitted himself to hospital on Wednesday after experiencing breathing difficulties.
Doctors discovered the 42 year old had sustained broken ribs and a punctured lung and he is now being cared for in the hospital's trauma unit, his publicist tells TMZ.com.
Rippy, who landed a small role in Mel Brooks' 1974 movie classic Blazing Saddles, refused to seek medical attention following the incident, when he was thrown 10 feet (three metres) into the air, but he admitted himself to hospital on Wednesday after experiencing breathing difficulties.

According to his publicist, Rodney was thrown 10 feet in the air when he wrecked his dirt bike in North Carolina on Monday -- but he didn't go to the hospital until today when he had trouble breathing. Rodney -- who's now 42 -- suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung. We're told he's recovering in the trauma unit.
Besides Jack in the Box, Rodney had a small role in one of the greatest movies of all time ... "Blazing Saddles."
All growed up, Rodney belted out a "Jack" jingle when we spotted him earlier this year. Smaller cheeks, but still super cool.
