He began costuming films for directors Reggie Rock Bythewood, William Shatner, and Trey Haley. After transitioning from costume designer to fashion publicist, Relf began directing and producing short-form fashion content, which led him to UCLA's Film Extension program in 2017. Relf has written three feature-length screenplays, "85", "An American Punk Tale," and "Burgen." In 2018 he was selected to screen in Outfest / Showtime's "One-Minute Film Competition." He wrote, directed, and produced the short film "Jesus Children of America" shot with the iPhone (runtime 15-minutes). He was selected for CMG/Festival de Cannes' short film-makers program, where his short screenplay "Baggage" was produced and premiered during Cannes 2019. He's recently packaged his first docuseries project "Immeasurable: The Color of Fashion," which was an official recipient of the 2020 CNN/Film Independent Docuseries Fellowship, and represented by CAA, and produced the Bronze Lens 2020 Award-Winning Best Short Film, "Catching Up," starring Luke Cage's Thomas Q Jones. Relf's reimagined holiday short film "Another Xmas Dinner" is set to hit film festivals in 2021.
