Cynthia Nixon is unperturbed by the criticism surrounding the “Sex and the City” spinoff, “And Just Like That.” During the 90th Annual Drama League Awards on Friday, May 17, the 58-year-old actress shared why she is not dismayed by the hate hurled toward the spinoff.
Cynthia Nixon portrayed Miranda Hobbes in “Sex and The City” for all six seasons before reprising her role for the spinoff “And Just Like That” in 2021. While Sex and The City left an indelible mark in pop culture history, its successor “And Just Like That” has failed to ingratiate itself with the audience, who often highlight the show’s shortcomings compared to its predecessor.

This article contains spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy season 20 episode 4.
Fans were introduced to the character of Dr. Arizona Robbins, portrayed beautifully by Jessica Capshaw, back in season 5 of Grey’s Anatomy. Over the years, many felt seen through the character because, as the actress wrote on her Instagram, Arizona was one of the first members of the LGBTQ+ community to be represented in a series regular role on network television, making her impact on the world “permanent and forever.” So when her character left in the season 14 finale, it left a big hole in the medical drama.
Thankfully, she wasn’t killed off. Instead, Arizona decided to move to New York for the sake of her daughter, who needs both of her parents. She teams up with Dr. Nicole Herman (Geena Davis) to start the Robbins/Herman Center for Women’s Health, where she will perform fetal surgery, and launch her maternal mortality prevention program.

Sex and the City was a smash hit for HBO. Premiering in 1998, the series ran for six seasons, spawned two movies (although we'd prefer to forget that the second one ever came out), and a prequel series (The Carrie Diaries on The CW).
And while there was great excitement over And Just Like That..., the reboot was somewhat marred from the outset with the harassment allegations against Chris Noth, the lack of Samantha (Kim Cattrall), and the introduction of the polarizing Che Diaz.
The series has expanded its circle of friends from the original, bringing in Seema, Nya, and Lisa as foils and sidekicks for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, respectively.
Long-time fans enjoyed seeing Anthony find a new partner and learning more about Stanford's life in Japan. Season 2 of And Just Like That... also saw much growth from our leading ladies.
Carrie found and then lost Aidan, at least for the time being.

The Human Rights Campaign (Hrc) Gala in Los Angeles hit a snafu on Saturday when protestors of the Israel-Hamas war interrupted Jill Biden’s keynote address at the Fairmont Century Plaza hotel in Los Angeles.
Just as the first lady started speaking, about five people rose from their seats and began shouting, “Free Palestine.” One held a sign that said, “Queer Jews Say Ceasefire Now.” The evening serves as a major fundraiser for Hrc, one of the country’s leading LGBTQ advocacy organizations.
The protestors continued yelling as security ushered them out of the room.
Biden stopped speaking and resumed when the protestors were out of the ballroom.
It was announced earlier this week that Biden would be delivering the keynote remarks during the dinner and awards ceremony.

Following Sara Ramirez’s departure from And Just Like That… last month, Max’s Sex and the City spinoff has lost another cast member. Karen Pittman, who played Dr. Nya Wallace in the show’s first two seasons, will not be returning for Season 3. Exclusive: A fan-favorite character is leaving And Just Like That… Karen Pittman, who played Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, will not be returning for the upcoming third season of the hit Max series.
Pittman was already a series regular on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show when she was cast in And Just Like That…, originally as a recurring in Season 1; she was upped to a series regular in Season 2. Earlier this month, she also was tapped for a starring role in Forever, Netflix’s upcoming drama series reimagining Judy Blume’s novel from Mara Brock Akil.
This put Pittman in the middle of a scheduling conundrum involving three high-profile series on three major streamers filming new seasons this year within similar timeframes.
According to sources, there was every intention for Pittman to be in Season 3 of Ajlt, and Nya was written into the scripts.

Fans are dying to know if Teddy Altman is going to die on Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy. It is known that her contract was renewed, however, that does not mean she will be around the entire season. In the trailer, Teddy is seen collapsing to the floor while performing surgery. This is the most viewers got to see in her storyline this season. However, a showrunner recently let fans know there will be a lot of changes this time around.

Ever since promotion got underway by ABC for Grey’s Anatomy’s milestone 20th season, there’s been one big question on the minds of fans:
What the heck is going on with Teddy Altman?
The initial promo showcased her collapsing while performing surgery, leading to speculation that Kim Raver’s time on the series could be coming to a close.
Then, a lengthier trailer was released that gave some context, and honestly, it didn’t sound good for one of the show’s best characters.
We finally have some clarity on the situation, which sounds as dramatic as expected.
New Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis opened up to TVLine about the upcoming plot and how it will change Teddy.
Teddy survives her ordeal
The best part of the tidbit is that we now know that Teddy pulls through her ordeal, which is good news for fans of the long-serving character.

Grey’s Anatomy fans will see the return of several big characters this spring.
One of the people returning to the Grey’s Anatomy cast is the actress who played Arizona. But we aren’t going to see Callie, it seems.
In the run-up to the new season of Grey’s Anatomy, it was revealed that Jessica Capshaw is returning to play Dr. Arizona Robbins again.
Arizona was a fan-favorite character, but she left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Season 14 to move to New York.
The move was so her daughter Sophia could be closer to her other mom – Dr. Callie Torres.
Actress Sara Ramirez played Callie for years. She left the show at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 when Callie developed a relationship with Penny Blake (played by Samantha Sloyan) and moved to New York.

Actress Sara Ramirez played Callie for years. She left the show at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 when Callie developed a relationship with Penny Blake (played by Samantha Sloyan) and moved to New York.

To many a Grey’s Anatomy fan, Arizona without Callie is like surgery without anesthesia. But when Jessica Capshaw reprises her role in the ABC drama’s abbreviated Season 20 (which kicks off Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c), she’ll be doing so as a solo actress. Why didn’t Sara Ramirez scrub in as Callie, too?

On Monday, the news broke all over the web that Sara Ramirez had exited And Just Like That... ahead of the third season of the Max hit series, taking Che Diaz with her. While we appreciate Ramirez, we can't say the same for Che.
So it's no surprise that reactions were, to say the least, quite positive.
Che, seen throughout the first two seasons, was extremely polarizing.
While Che's introduction led Miranda to experience her sexual awakening, it also led to Miranda's downfall as an independent, strong-willed lawyer. It turned her into someone she would have mocked on Sex and the City.
However, the And Just Like That... Season 2 finale gave us a glimpse into what will hopefully be the new Miranda.
With a new job with Human Rights Watch, a rekindled friendship with Steve, and the knowledge that she will no longer be Che's comedic fodder, there is a...

Sara Ramirez’s time has ended on the Sex and the City spinoff series And Just Like That… at Max.
By the end of Season 2, Ramirez’s Che Diaz and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) had split for good and both had moved on to explore new relationships. A source close to production revealed to Deadline last month that Che’s story had concluded, and Ramirez would not be returning for Season 3.
As Che has a strong friendship with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), they could essentially make appearances in the future. Max declined comment in January and again for this story.
Earlier this year, the Daily Mail claimed Che was being eliminated due to Ramirez’s pro-Palestine social media posts, but sources told Deadline at the time that was false. Ramirez seemingly responded to the news with an Instagram post shared a day later that read, “Don’t let the...

Che Diaz won’t be back in season three of And Just Like That.
It has been confirmed by sources that Sara Ramirez will not be returning for the Sex and the City sequel series after appearing as the polarizing character for the first two seasons.
Season three is going to be in production later this year with a plan to premiere on the streaming service Max in 2025, but Sara won’t be joining the rest of the returning cast members, according to Variety.
But why is Che leaving?

Variety revealed that their “sources dispute that Ramírez was fired for their politics or their Instagram presence. These sources say that the Che character had reached a natural conclusion, since their relationship with Miranda had ended.”

The cast of And Just Like That… will return to the set this spring, ending more than a year-long filming hiatus. The Sex and the City reboot wrapped filming for season 2 of the series last March, and while season 3 of the show was confirmed by Max months ago, there appeared to be absolutely no movement on production. Now, we have a date. Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York, and their pals will take over the streets of Manhattan in May.
‘And Just Like That…’ season 3 will begin filming in New York City this Spring
And Just Like That… fans have finally gotten the update they needed to breathe easier. After an extremely long hiatus, the cast has an official filming date. Entertainment Tonight caught up with several of the reboot’s stars at the Michael Kors Fall/Winter Fashion Show earlier this month and learned exactly when the cast will return to the set.

It's a milestone 20th season of Grey's Anatomy knocking on our doors, and they're not holding back.
We saw that Grey's Anatomy Season 19 felt like a soft reboot of the series, simultaneously tapping into the nostalgia with throwback formats with new faces and the return of series fan favorites.
And Grey's Anatomy Season 20 promises to keep up that same energy.
To the relief of many, Ellen Pompeo didn't hang up her stethoscope permanently despite her minimal role last season, and we know for a fact that she'll make some appearances this season.
It's even been teased that she'll appear in the season premiere.
And Grey's Anatomy Season 19 also excited long-time fans with the epic return of Kate Walsh as Addison Montgomery.
Throughout the season, she helmed a critical and timely arc about women's health issues, taking on the abolishment of Roe v. Wade and showcasing the long-reaching ramifications of that decision on the healthcare industry.

Look who’s roller-skating back into Grey Sloan Memorial: Jessica Capshaw will return to play Dr. Arizona Robbins in the upcoming 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy. Meanwhile, Alex Landi is coming back to play Dr. Nico Kim in Season 20 while Natalie Morales and Freddy Miyares guest-star, according to Deadline. Capshaw was last seen on Grey’s Anatomy in 2018, when Arizona, a pediatric surgeon, headed to New York City for a possible reunion with ex-wife Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) in the Season 14 finale. Both Capshaw and costar Sarah Drew were let go from the ABC medical drama at the end of Season 14 — much to fans’ outrage — though Drew has guest-starred in two more episodes since. Since her time on Grey’s, Capshaw has appeared in the 2020 Netflix movie Holidate and the first season of Hulu’s Tell Me Lies. John Fleeno/ABC Landi recurred on Grey’s throughout Seasons 15 and 18, with his...

Expect to see some familiar faces returning to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital soon.
Jessica Capshaw is set to guest star in Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy, reprising her beloved role as Dr. Arizona Robbins. Also Alex Landi will return as Dr. Nico Kim.
No word yet on how, exactly, these two will make their way back to Grey Sloan. Capshaw joined the cast in Season 5 and remained until Season 14, when Arizona left Seattle during the finale to move to New York so that her daughter Sophia could be closer to her other mom, Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez).
Landi recurred on the show from Seasons 15 to 18, before exiting in May 2022. While he was on the show, he was in an on-again off-again relationship with his co-worker Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), who is still on the show.
Additionally, Grey’s Anatomy is also adding two new faces, Natalie Morales and Freddy Miyares.

Sara Ramirez, who plays Che Diaz on the popular HBO series And Just Like That, has been dropped by executives – but the reason remains mysterious.
Ramirez, a non-binary actor, rose to fame with their role in Grey’s Anatomy. Ramirez posted on their Instagram on Tuesday confirming that they would not be returning to the show.
Ramirez claimed that the dropping of the character was due to their political stances and pro-Palestinian opinions, saying, “casting directors and agents are making black lists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians and Gaza to ensure they will not work again.”
Fans of the show, however, have been divided on Che for a while, with many seeing the role as “annoying” and “a waste of airtime.”
Last season was notable for the return of Kim Cattrall to the series – if only for one minute – for which she was reportedly paid $1 million.

Likely thanks to delays caused by the now settled dual Hollywood strikes, we won’t see the third season of Max’s And Just Like That until 2025.
The return was confirmed in a Max promo released earlier today with first looks of its upcoming 2024/2025 lineup. The spot also confirmed previously announced 2025 premieres for HBO’s Euphoria, The White Lotus and The Last of Us.
A specific premiere date for the Sex and the City continuation series was never set, but the writers room was back in operation beginning in early November following resolution of the WGA strike, and production start pending resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike. It was just ratified last night with 78.33% of ballots in favor of the November 8 tentative agreement with the AMPTP.
It won’t be the first lengthy delay between seasons of the Sex and the City sequel. There were 15 months between the Season 1 finale on Feb.

“Just think,” Sir Lancelot (Taran Killam) muses as he celebrates his gay wedding at the end of Monty Python’s Spamalot. “In a thousand-and-eighteen years time, this will still be controversial.” Killam puts special emphasis on the “eighteen,” an addition to the script that nods to the supposed ways in which Spamalot remains relevant nearly two decades after the Tony-winning musical adaptation of Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam’s 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail tore up the 2004-2005 Broadway season.
The construction of the joke suggests that not much has changed—either for good or ill—in the past decades. That’s hardly true, because when Hank Azaria delivered the punchline in 2005, gay marriage wouldn’t be legalized in New York State for another six years. It’s surprising how much of Spamalot’s humor, especially the gay jokes, now feels rooted in an earlier time. Even peppered...

Sometimes life really does imitate art. In an Aug. 29 Instagram slideshow, "And Just Like That" star Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that she'd actually adopted the kitten that her character, Carrie Bradshaw, rescues in the show. In the second season of the "Sex and the City" sequel, Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) gives Carrie the adorable gray feline, and Carrie gives it the most Carrie Bradshaw moniker of all time: Shoe.

And just like that, everyone is talking about “Sex and the City” again.
The finale of the second season of “And Just Like That” debuted Thursday — featuring a Samantha (Kim Cattrall) cameo! — and it was…fun? Moving? Not as deranged as the first season!? My colleague Ben Travers reviewed the finale here, but with the news that the show, Max’s No. 1 original, would indeed be returning for a third season we got to thinking about how the show can continue on its sudden upward swing.
The last few episodes of Season 2 have shown some promising signs of life. So members of the IndieWire brain trust who have consumed all 21 episodes of this compelling chaos train couldn’t help but wonder: What one change would drastically improve the show for Season 3?
For myself, the answer is easy: It’s time to get rid of Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez). The internet...

When the And Just Like That writers started chatting about the end of the season two finale, even they admitted they were dreading reliving the conversation between Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett), the former love of her life with whom she reconciled with earlier in the season.
“She looks out the window and there is Aidan, throwing a rock up at the window, much like she threw a rock up at his window in Sex and the City when she visited him at night after his second return,” said showrunner/writer/director Michael Patrick King about the callback in episode 11, “The Last Supper Part Two: Entrée.” King, speaking on Max’s official companion podcast for the series, And Just Like That … The Writers Room with EPs Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky and producers/writers Susan Fales-Hill and Samantha Irby,...

After 11 episodes, a rekindled romance and a highly anticipated cameo, “And Just Like That” Season 2 came to an end Thursday on Max.
Developed by Michael Patrick King, the Max original takes place 11 years after the “Sex and the City 2” movie. Instead of following four friends in their 30s, the spinoff follows three of the main friends in their 50s as they navigate friendship, careers, new romances and the complicated rules of dating later in life.
TheWrap already broke down Kim Cattrall’s return as Samantha Jones. But if you’re curious how the season ended for everyone else, here’s what you need to know.

Spoiler Alert: This column contains spoilers from “The Last Supper Part Two: Entrée,” the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That,” now streaming on Max.
Before the second season of “And Just Like That” even premiered, we knew that Kim Cattrall would (briefly) return as her “Sex and the City” character Samantha Jones. The ratings rationale for bringing back such a beloved figure were obvious enough, but creatively, the move seemed oddly self-defeating. After an awkward start, the sequel series had finally started to establish its own identity. What was the point of reminding viewers what they were missing, let alone with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo featuring no other cast members?
But to my great surprise, Cattrall’s appearance in the 11th and final episode of Season 2 was both effective and, against all odds, organic. The two-part finale, titled “The Last Supper,” was all about saying goodbye and paying tribute...

Sara Ramirez would like to make one thing clear: they are not actually their And Just Like That character Che Diaz. In a new Instagram post, Ramirez, who uses they/them pronouns, addressed the ongoing criticism of Che, reminding viewers that the onscreen comedian is fictional.
“I am not the fictional characters I have played, nor am I responsible for the things that are written for them to say,” Ramirez wrote. “I am a human being, an artist, an actor. And we are living in a world that has become...
