HBO Max on Wednesday said it has hired former Fox Entertainment exec Roberto Alcantara, Universal Content Productions’ Chika Chukudebelu and A+E Studios’ Mark Tuohy with the titles of VP Drama, tasked with creating a slate of original scripted dramas as WarnerMedia’s streaming service that launches in the spring. The trio will report to Evp Original Drama Joey Chavez.
The moves round out the streamer’s drama team that already includes fellow VP Drama David Poynter and Director, Drama Maura Feerick.
Alcantara recently served as VP Comedy Development & Programming at Fox Entertainment, where he oversaw a slate that included Last Man Standing, Bless the Harts and What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage. Before that he worked at Project 10 as VP Content, at Momentum TV and CAA.

HBO Max is continuing its spate of executive hires.
The nascent WarnerMedia streamer has now tapped Roberto Alcantara, Chika Chukudebelu and Mark Tuohy to all be vice presidents in the drama department. The announcement was made by Joey Chavez, Evp of original drama at HBO Max, to whom they will all report.
Chavez and his team are tasked with the creating a slate of original dramas for the direct-to-consumer offering scheduled to launch in the spring of 2020.
“The premium drama bar is set high, and I have no doubt this talented team will deliver and be great creative partners to great creators,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TNT, TBS & truTV.

The best place to see the big ol’ Super Moon this weekend was probably Palm Springs, which was definitely the best place to watch the 300-odd shorts films assembled by Kathleen McInnis and the big ol’ Palm Springs International Festival of – yes -- Short Films. While the locals went to the movies, the hundreds of attending shorts-makers -- especially those who don’t want to remain shorts-makers -- networked, partied (same thing) and availed themselves of the panels McInnis coordinates each year, in an effort to provide news-you-can-use for fledgling directors, producers and writers.
