Tim Powell is known for his recurring roles in popular TV shows. He recurs as the characters of "Robert," the Chief of Security at General Hospital, and Circuit Court Judge Shapiro on CSI: Vegas. His acting career has seen him appear on major networks such as CBS, Amazon, and ABC, Fox and NBC. On CBS he was on The Neighborhood, while on ABC he was part of the cast for episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and on ABC's Revenge as the Chairman of the Board of Southampton Medical Center, directed by Helen Hunt.
In the critically acclaimed Fox comedy series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he played the role of the no-nonsense, jaded, and cynical Chief of Detectives. He also appeared on Showtime's Ray Donovan in Season 3, portraying the cynical, jaded, and no-nonsense Chief of Police.
In addition to his television work, Tim has also been fortunate to work with esteemed filmmakers such as Robert Altman, John Sayles, and Michael Bay. He has also been directed by notable filmmakers like Rosemary Rodriguez, Jay Roach, Tom Hanks, John Badham, and Joan Tewkesbury, among many others.
Apart from his acting career, Tim is passionate about teaching and coaching other actors. He designed and taught his Technology and Minimalism classes for The SAG-AFTRA Conservatory at the American Film Institute in Hollywood. He also teaches self-tape techniques and has presented his Self-Taping Solutions Workshops for several prestigious organizations, including SAG-AFTRA, The Television Academy, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, UCLA, USC, A-List International, CBS, and Netflix. In 2023 was added to the TV Academy's Performers Peer Group Executive Committee.
When Tim is not working or coaching other actors, he can be found exploring the southern California mountains or enjoying fresh seafood in Malibu. Occasionally, he visits his adult children in Seattle and Orlando. Tim resides in Atwater Village on the east side of Los Angeles, in the formidable shadow of Griffith Park. - 07.06.2023
