Directed by: Robert Lieberman
Written by: Marek Posival
Starring: Erika Christensen, Jesse Metcalfe, Fulvio Cecere, Bill Moseley
Grief can be an enormously difficult emotion to pull off on screen, mainly because we all deal with it in different ways and it's hard for most of us to imagine the tragedy that befalls Craig and Elise Landry, the couple at the center of Robert Lieberman's The Tortured.
The Landrys' son, Benjamin, is taken from them in broad daylight and murdered by a sadistic child molester and serial murderer. The killer is captured by the police, but cuts a deal. It's one thing to lose your child, but seeing that the man who took him away from you isn't getting nearly the punishment you think he deserves? That may give one…ideas. It certainly gives the Landrys ideas. As I said, we all deal with grief in different ways, and The Tortured...

Apt Title Foretells Effect on its Audience: Lieberman’s Absurd Attempt at Horror
Robert Lieberman’s latest film, a quaggy, moronic torture porn debacle, ironically titled The Tortured, is finally getting released by IFC Films nearly two years after filming. Of course, we’re assuming this is because the distribution company realizes that Lieberman’s film is a dead ringer for a 2010 French Canadian freak show they acquired and released on DVD, the infamous 7 Days. Featuring only superficial differences from its foreign language counterpart, this uninspired exercise frighteningly proves that torture porn revenge has become merely pedestrian.
Beginning with Craig Landry (Jesse Metcalfe) screaming into a cell phone that his son has been kidnapped, we are treated to several memory induced flashback scenarios leading up to the presently grief stricken Craig and wife Elise (Erika Christensen). We get a small glimpse of the pedophile serial killer (Bill Moseley) that has kidnapped the child,...

There are actors who are cast as the boy who gets the girl. And there are actors who are cast as the boy who gets to put the girl’s head on a spike. Bill Moseley is very much in the latter category. The actor first caught the eye of horror fans with his unforgettable turn as the berserk Chop Top in Tobe Hooper’s 1986 sequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and since then has gruesomely graced a raft of genre movies including 1990′s Night of the Living Dead remake, 1993′s Army of Darkness, and pretty much everything Rob Zombie has ever directed.

Rob Lieberman’s (Fire in the Sky, Dexter) forthcoming tale, The Tortured, which tells the story of a kidnapped and murdered child and the subsequent crumbling of a family unit, will arrive on VOD May 11th. The picture, which up to this point has maintained status as a certified genre sleeper, stars a slew of promising young talent, including Erika Christensen (Swimfan, Riding the Bullet), Jesse Metcalfe (Insanitarium, John Tucker Must Die), Bill Lippincott (The Graves) and genre favorite Bill Moseley (Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II). Marek Posival tackles the script.

The Tortured
Stars: Erika Christensen, Jesse Metcalfe, Bill Moseley, Fulvio Cecere | Written by Marek Posival | Directed by Robert Lieberman
Devastated by the kidnap and murder of their young son, Elise (Christensen) and her husband Craig (Metcalfe) are further distressed when the man accused of the crime is set free prematurely. Deciding the criminal justice system has failed them by not adequately punishing the monster responsible for all their pain, they seize on a chance to wreak the ultimate revenge by kidnapping the killer and holding him hostage in the basement of a remote country house, where they intend to inflict the same pain and torture upon him as the believe he inflicted upon their son. Elise and Craig are firm in their belief that this ‘eye for an eye’ vengeance is not only justified, but will also heal their own mental wounds. But how far they are prepared to go...

Horror icon Bill Moseley spoke to Fango recently about playing child killer Kozlowski in the upcoming film The Tortured. Directed by Robert Lieberman and written by Marek Posival, the Twisted Pictures production centers on parents Elise (Erika Christensen) and Craig (Jesse Metcalfe), who take the law into their own hands when their child is kidnapped and murdered: They abduct the killer and exact their own sadistic revenge. While the movie doesn’t have U.S. distribution yet, it makes its UK premiere at this year’s Film4 Frightfest.

We learned today that Charlie Sheen will topline the now untitled horror project - formerly Tortured - for Twisted Pictures, the goons behind the Saw franchise. The film is a journey of an average, loving couple, Craig (Sheen) and Elise, who hit their limit after they experience the loss of their 5 -year old son to a pedophile.
