Paul Poiret was born on April 20, 1879 in Paris, France. He was a costume designer and actor, known for L'inhumaine (1924), At 3:25 (1925) and L'autre aile (1923). He was married to Denise Boulet. He died on April 30, 1944 in Paris, France.
In 1896 he began selling his designs independently to top Parisian
fashion houses, then exclusively for Jacques Doucet. From 1900 to 1904
he worked at Worth and then going solo in 1904.
He published his autobiography, "My First Fifty Years" in 1930 and also
published "Les Robes de Paul Poiret" in 1908 illustrated by Paul Iribe and
"Les Choses de Poiret" in 1911.
He also published "En Habillant l'Époque" in 1930 and "King of Fashion:
The Autobiography of Paul Poiret" in 1931.
