Is the UK film industry about to see the implementation of new, liberal classification standards – and the removal of some of the last taboos from film-making. Or is the acquittal of Michael Peacock last Friday, on charges of distributing obscene DVDs depicting a range of allegedly nasty stuff (including fisting, erotic urination and heavy-duty sado-masochistic activity) no more than a false dawn? A setback for our more moralistic censors – but in reality no more than a temporary blip?

The Kinsale Shark Awards launch tomorrow, 11 September, in the town of Kinsale, Co. Cork. Once again the awards will seek to reward advertising agencies who are seen to pride creativity above all else. This will be done through several categories including Worldwinners, Print, Digital, Broadcasts, Promo, New Directors and the Baby Shark award presented to new creative talent. All award recipients, including the winners of prestigious Grand Prix Shark Award and the Agency of the Year Shark Award, will be chosen by a panel of six judges. These judges are all people who are currently responsible for leading creative work throughout the world. This year's judging panel will feature Simon Collins, Roger Kennedy, Alan Kelly, Marco Mehrwald, John Peacock and Jeff Kling.
