Most parents can probably relate to the moment their child goes to school for the first time. But one thing that many might not expect to start so early?
“My first kid — it was her first day of EC2, which is before kindergarten — and I thought there were starting to be mean girls already in her class,” Brockmire star Amanda Peet said of now-10-year-old daughter Frances “Frankie” Pen. “Really cute, really confident and loud.”
She continues, “And Frankie and all the boys were chasing them, chasing boys against girls, and my daughter Frankie was like, ‘Catch me! Catch me!

Riz Ahmed, “The Night Of”
The British actor had a small role in “Nightcrawler” on the big screen, but he makes a huge splash on HBO’s anthology drama as Nasir “Naz” Khan, the young man whose night out with a captivating woman goes awry when he discovers her stabbed and he’s accused of her murder. Ahmed is hypnotic in his stillness and silences, but one look at his expressive eyes, and it’s clear that Naz is taking everything in as he learns to navigate the world of prison politics and legal strategy. One can’t help to root for him because he’s clearly innocent… isn’t he? Therein lies Ahmed’s genius, his ability to play both sides so that the viewer oscillates between sympathy and dread that we have gotten it wrong. We can’t wait to see what he does in the Star Wars universe for “Rogue One.

Though she's afraid to admit it, Amanda Peet says she definitely cares about her looks. "How else can I explain my trainer, stylist, and Barney's card?" the Togetherness actress, 44, writes in a candid essay for Lena Dunham's Lenny Letter. "I've bleached my teeth, dyed my hair, peeled and lasered my face, and tried a slew of age-defying creams." But she has to draw the line somewhere. Peet recently revealed she has never had Botox or fillers - with no plans to start. And another beauty don't for her? A boob job. "I'm not happy about my saggy boobs, which,...

MTV has cancelled the thriller Eye Candy after one season. Series star Victoria Justice made the announcement via twitter.
Hi everyone! I wanted you guys to hear it from me first, that the cast and I received news that Eye Candy will not be returning for season 2. Even though a lot of you are going to feel sad/angry, please know that playing Lindy Sampson, is something that I loved and I will hold dear to my heart. I couldn’t have asked for better cast mates to work with either. They are the most down to earth, talented and kind souls that I am so happy to have met. Then there’s our show runner @Christiantwit1 who is so awesomely talented and made a show that I am so incredibly proud to be a part of. A very special thank...

Good thing he didn't take her advice! A few years back, Amanda Peet almost led her husband David Benioff seriously astray. The Togetherness actress, 43, has been married to the Game of Thrones co-creator since 2006 and they share three children: Frankie, 7, Molly, 4, and Henry, 1 month. When Benioff, 44, first discussed the idea for his HBO series with his wife, however, she was hardly a fan. What's It About? Cineastes and fans of war movies will dig this drama that uses real WWII footage in this tale of a young soldier headed to D Day. Sounds simple, but it's pretty heavy, and the unique use of real war footage adds to the narrative.
Why We're In: With Kubrick collaborator John Alcott as the cinematographer, a spiffy restoration, and loads of extras, "Overload" is a good addition to your collection.

Newcomer Nick James stars alongside Henry ‘The Fonz’ Winkler in the brand-new comedy drama series, Hank Zipzer which comes to Cbbc this January.
Nick (represented by D&B Management), who had to dye his hair for the role, said: "Playing Hank has been absolutely amazing. I’ve been able to do a multitude of things I’ve never done before and this has been my biggest part to date, so it has been exciting and scary all at once. I have got to meet so many interesting and lovely people in the three months I’ve been away acting."
He added, "It has been very hard work. I’m in nearly all the scenes and then I’ve had to try and keep up with all my school work as well – my mum is really strict about this which is super annoying. It’s not been easy but it’s been a lot of fun.

It’s “adult swim” time at the cineplex once again, kids. Hmm, seems like Last Vegas was just a week or so ago. This new flick concerns another couple of post-6o dudes who are trying to recapture some of their “glory days” (cue the Springsteen tune, if we can afford it!). Except one of them was in that earlier flick (he’s having a busy year for a guy past retirement age). This film’ s story plays on the cinematic past of the two main stars. You, see both got Oscar nominations for films set in the world of that “sweet science”, the sport of boxing. Sylvester Stallone grabbed his nom for penning the script for 1976′s Rocky, which spawned five sequels, while Robert DeNiro nabbed his Best Actor Oscar nom and win for playing real-life boxer Jake Lamotta in 1980′s Raging Bull. Now, while both actors shared scenes in Copland,...

Tony Award nominee and soap opera actress Tresa Hughes has died, according to a death notice in The New York Times. She was 81.
Hughes played Emma Frame Ordway (Frankie, Molly, Wade, Sterling and Henry's mother) on Another World on and off from June 1975 to June 1976. She was the second Emma (Beverlee McKinsey was the first).
Hughes also played Rose Carelli Fraser on From These Roots from 1960 to 1961 (she left to do "The Advocate" on Broadway) and Nurse Dumfrey on Ryan's Hope in 1977.
Hughes was born in Washington and moved to Baltimore when her father, Joseph Silverman, retired from his supermarket business. She graduated from Forest Park High in 1947 as an art major. Showing talent as a sculptress, she studied at the Maryland Institute during and following high school.

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

Two old ladies in a thrift store open boxes to reveal dismembered body parts. Nick (George Eads) arrives on the Cs with Sara (Jorga Fox) this time and not Ray, (Laurence Fishburne) as is the norm; who is busy with his own personal issues. Det Frankie (Katee Sackoff) tells them his head and foot were found. Sara admits to shopping at this thrift store, as they have some good things. Sara doesn't find any leakage in the boxes and Nick believes the rest of the parts must be in the boxes. They were dropped off by a truck on a pick-up route. Nick wonders how much the killer thought the Db was worth, "times are tough." That was the supposedly funny line. Nick takes Gloria (Tracee Ellis Ross) to see Ray who's conducting an experiment with Hodges (Wallace Langham). Nick comments he looks more like "Dr Dre than Dr Ray.

This is the last of my lists of the best films of 2010, and the hardest to name. Call it the Best Art Films. I can't precisely define an Art Film, but I knew I was seeing one when I saw these. I could also call them Adult Films, if that term hadn't been devalued by the porn industry. These are films based on the close observation of behavior. They are not mechanical constructions of infinitesimal thrills. They depend on intelligence and empathy to be appreciated.
They also require acting of a precision not necessary in many mass entertainments. They require directors with a clear idea of complex purposes. They require subtleties of lighting and sound that create a self-contained world. Most of all, they require sympathy. The directors care for their characters, and ask us to see them as individuals, not genre emblems. That requires us to see ourselves as individual viewers,...

We know you were losing sleep over it, so we're happy to be the first to tell you that Furry Vengeance and Yogi Bear are both eligible to be nominated for Best Screenplay Oscars on January 25. Also that Marmaduke score that has been wearing out your iPod? It's eligible too. However, the inclusion of these 2010 masterpieces really isn't that big a surprise. With final nominations just over a month away the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 241 screenplays - 134 original and 107 adapted - are eligible for a Best Screenplay nomination and that music from 77 films is eligible for Best Original Score (not including Black Swan, The Fighter or The Kids Are All Right [1]). The AMPAS have named 241 scripts eligible for the Academy Awards — 134 original, 107 adapted. Unlike the WGA, Winter’s Bone, King’s Speech, Toy Story 3, Never Let Me Go, and How to Train Your Dragon will be considered.
The AMPAS have also released the list of nominees for best score. The list was narrowed down to 77 scores, which makes Best Original Score the 2011 Oscar the category with the least number of films under consideration. The scores for Black Swan, True Grit, The Kids Are Alright and The Fighter will not be eligible to compete this year. Clint Mansell‘s Black Swan score and Carter Burwell‘s True Grit score were disqualified attributed to a designation within Rule 16 of the Academy’s Special Rules for Music Awards (5d under “Eligibility”), which excludes “scores diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music.” Meanwhile, the scores for The Kids Are All Right,...

Hollywoodnews.com: The Writers Guild of America revealed the films that will be eligible for this year’s Writers Guild Awards, and the lists – both Original and Adapted – are noteworthy for the titles that are not in the running.
“Toy Story 3” and “How to Train Your Dragon,” for instance, were declared ineligible. So was “Winter’s Bone” and “The King’s Speech,” believed by many Oscar pundits to be a frontrunner in several categories. They’re not alone. Other titles left out of the running include “Blue Valentine,” “Biutiful,” “Another Year,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” “Never Let Me Go” and “The Ghost Writer.”
But the screenplay for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” made the cut. Thank God.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have announced that 248 feature films are eligible for best picture at the 2010 Academy Awards. According to THR, 274 films were eligible in 2009, and 281 in 2008. If I had to guess which films will be selected I would have to say Inception, Black Swan, Social Network, King’s Speech, Winter’s Bone, The Fighter, True Grit, 127 Hours, Toy Story 3 and Rabbit Hole.
To make the cut, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days.
Under Academy rules, a feature-length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and must have been exhibited theatrically on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format.
Feature films that receive their first public exhibition or distribution in any manner other than as a theatrical motion...

Halloween episodes are always fun. But the best ones still manage to reveal something about their characters, such as that Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s former vengeance demon Anya is afraid of bunnies, and Bones’ Brennan, who doesn’t understand 99.9 percent of pop culture references, insists upon dressing up as Wonder Woman every year. Which of this year’s remaining Halloween-themed episodes (sorry, Parenthood and One Tree Hill) sounds like it will become a classic? (We’ve got details straight from the networks on 22 shows. Thanks to popular British film and television, there is a perception outside Britain that roaming amidst our green fields and cobbled streets are delicate, silver-spooned beauties and post-Henry Eliza Doolittles. While we are on record as being rather fond of the corset — for two reasons — in reality, there is a much more diverse bunch of British ladies turning heads. And a high proportion of them are swigging pints, not tea.
So we are dedicating this column to the introduction and celebration of some of today's most desirable ladies in dear old Blighty. And because we are gripped by UK election fever, we decided to be democratic about it and sent a Twat out a few days ago asking you to nominate the UK ladies you wish were of a lesbian persuasion.
It would be far too challenging a task to look at this with any deep meaning — we'd have to flick through historical archives,...

On “Cougar Town,” recent Golden Globe nominee Courteney Cox stars as Jules, a newly divorced single mother exploring the honest truths about dating and aging in a culture that’s obsessed with youth & beauty. While most women in their twenties go through life experiencing the challenges and often humorous pitfalls of meeting men, Jules took on the responsibilities of marriage and raising a son. Chicago – ABC is still struggling to find the next big hit to stand next to monsters like “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” and they decided to give Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic’s “Castle” a shot at hit status, but cancelled several other new shows, including “The Unusuals” and “Cupid”.
ABC announced their fall schedule today and made a few surprise choices, bringing back the increasingly interesting “Castle” and giving another chance to “Better Off Ted” and “True Beauty”.
Perhaps the most surprising move, especially considering the show’s poignant and excellent series finale, has to be the return of “Scrubs,” which will be back for midseason. They also announced 11 new series for fall and midseason.
