William decided to become a film editor after seeing 2001: A
Space Odyssey in 1969. He graduated from Queen's University
Belfast with a B.Sc. Hons. Computer Science.
Became a trainee Film Editor for BBC Wales in 1979, Assistant Film
Editor BBC Wales and Granada T.V. until 1983. He was a Founder member of
Teliesyn Ltd., one of South Wales' foremost production companies
running the post-production dept. In 1986, he departed Teliesyn to form
P.O.V. Ltd - Cardiff's premier film and video post-production company.
Left P.O.V. Ltd. in June 1996 to become a freelance
Film/Lightworks/Avid editor.
He has won BAFTA Wales awards in 2002 and 2009 for editing. He has an in depth knowledge of drama structure and narrative form compliment an extensive technical knowledge of both film and electronic image capture and editing procedures.Feature films, animation (Model and cell) many including heavy CGI and other computer effects are in the list as are science, arts, natural history,history, biography, technology and design from the range of documentary types. Not listed are some promo, pop-promo, commercials and other "short form" work. Experience also covering most of the non-current affairs genre of programming from "Fly on the wall" documentary to "Off the wall" Shakespeare.
His other experience includes, as a student - Director/Editor "A Magical Quality: The National Film Studios of Ireland", a 30 minute filmed documentary looking at the work of the studio during the period 76-79, Associate Producer/Asst. Camera "The Boxer" - a 70 minute drama
He enjoys music (playing guitar), cinema, computers, cats. Designing a proper computer interface for nonlinear editing machines.
