Biography

A native Californian, Gary Orona was born in 1964. His photographic talents landed him a a job as photographer for the Ventura (California) Star Free Press at age 18. By age 22 he had his degree in film production from Columbia and was rapidly becoming a director/cameraman of note. A world traveler and extreme outdoor enthusiast, Orona was picked by EMI Records in Tokyo, Japan, to produce/direct/photograph over 100 music videos for the Karaoke market. By his mid-20s he was producing and directing music videos and commercials, and at age 26 was hired as Director of Photography for Imperial Entertainment's The Bikini Carwash Company (1992). The following year he directed the sequel, The Bikini Carwash Company II (1993), and his movie career was rolling. Intent upon breathing fresh epic life into the "Bikini film" genre, he produced and directed The Great Bikini Off-Road Adventure (1994) HBO/Cinemax, "The Raven's Kiss" a.k.a. Stripshow (1996) HBO/Cinemax and Crime & Passion (1999). Next, Orona produced/directed/photographed over 50 one-hour erotic special event videos and created a production company to supply erotic films and videos to Playboy.com, DirecTV, In Demand pay-per-view and worldwide DVD. Over the past three years he has delivered 13 episodes of Thrills (2001) to HBO/Cinemax and was instrumental in development/producing/directing of 26 episodes of Hotel Erotica (2002) for HBO/Cinemax. He has also recently developed, produced and directed a pilot for FOX TV, a mock-reality TV show entitled "Fox Extreme World".

In 2005, Gary Orona was the creator, producer, and director of the third season of "Hotel Erotica" for HBO/Cinemax entitled "Hotel Erotica Cabo". Shot on location in Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico this was the final and 13 episodes of the series and has been critically acclaimed as the best series of its kind ever. In 2006, following "Hotel Erotica Cabo", Orona created, produced and directed yet another 13 episode series for HBO entitled "The Erotic Traveler". This epic series filmed in Hawaii, Mexico, France, California and Utah was the first ever true high definition late night erotic series ever released on HBO/Cinwmax.

"The Erotic Traveler" set a whole new standard for soft erotic episodic television with amazing locations, excellent story lines and stunning photography of which Gary Orona is well known for.

Orona has produced and directed 65 episodes of erotic shows for HBO/Cinemax, 15 feature length films for HBO/Cinemax, 4 mainstream independent feature films including the New York International Film Festival "Best Picture" "Trance", over 200 "special event erotic shows" for Directv, Pay TV, Pay Cable, and Home Video/DVD Worldwide, over 100 music videos for EMI Records, Tokyo, Japan, and as a photographer has been published in more than 20 Major publications.
