NCIS is a successful series with multiple spinoffs that have entertained viewers for over two decades. The first international venture -- NCIS: Sydney -- takes viewers to a different continent with a new cast and intriguing scenarios.
The first season saw extreme success, with "Gone Fission" NCIS: Sydney Season 1 Episode 1 having more viewers than any CBS premiere in streaming history. Paramount+ and CBS reported a combined 10 million viewers.
Unsurprisingly, US viewers love the Sydney spinoff as much as the Hawai'i version, which usually gets five million regular broadcast viewers. Even the original NCIS receives seven million viewers, minus streaming and other viewing methods.
But given that NCIS: Syndey takes place in Australia, it makes sense that it airs on Australian networks, too. It has become the most-watched locally produced (Australian) show aired on the Australian Paramount+ network.
Here is everything that we know about NCIS: Syndey Season 2.

What do you think of when you hear the word Australia? “If you speak to anyone around the world, one of the first things they talk to you about is that everything can kill you,” cracks Morgan O’Neill, executive producer of NCIS: Sydney, originally developed to stream on Paramount+ Australia but too good for CBS to pass up. Two-legged baddies aren’t in short supply, either, on this fifth entry in the massively successful military crime franchise. Smugglers, drug dealers, and the like are in the crosshairs of the eclectic new team led by NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann). “She’s very hot-blooded,” Swann says. “It’s her way or the highway.” In the November 14 opener — the first of eight...

Don’t get us wrong, the Australia-set NCIS: Sydney, premiering Stateside this Tuesday on CBS, boasts a terrific cast, and one that is 66% Australian (plus two Brits).

The NCIS franchise expands on November 14 with the premiere of the first international series, and sure, it might be quite a long plane ride for a crossover, but we’re, of course, already wondering if we ever might see one. Could anyone from the mothership or Hawai’i or even Los Angeles or New Orleans make their way over to NCIS: Sydney? “Crossover episodes are part of the DNA of the show, and fans of the show love those episodes for good reason,” Sydney showrunner Morgan O’Neill tells TV Insider. “We’ve definitely talked about it. There are obviously challenges to that just geographically. We’re 9,000 miles from the closest bit of America. But that said, never say never. It’s a pretty attractive part of the world for people to visit, so being able to twist someone’s arm from one of the other franchises to come out and...

If you’re watching NFL games on CBS this Sunday and things suddenly turn upside-down, rest assured that nothing is wrong with your TV set. It’s just CBS’ promo department being a bit of a larrikin.
TVLine can exclusively report that this Sunday, Nov. 12, CBS will intentionally air its NCIS: Sydney promo spots upside down during NFL on CBS games, tying into the “Down Under” theme of the well-watched franchise’s very first international endeavor, which was filmed on location in Australia — that’s in the southern hemisphere, for those who skipped geography class — and premieres Stateside Tuesday, Nov.

NCIS has gone international. NCIS: Sydney is the latest series in the very popular franchise, and it premieres on November 14 on CBS. Her 2Ic Afp counterpart is Sergeant Jim “Jd” Dempsey (Todd Lasance). Showrunner Morgan O’Neill introduces the new team. Across procedurals, we’ve seen agencies working together, but usually, it’s just an episode or two. But you really get to explore that over the course of the series itself. What does that allow you to do? Morgan O’Neill: Being the first international version of a global franchise comes with all sorts of challenges, one of which is how you integrate it into the new country. ...

A new NCIS spinoff is coming to CBS. NCIS: Sydney, the first international-set entry in the NCIS franchise, follows a joint team of American NCIS agents and Australian Federal Police officers as they investigate naval crimes in one of the most contested parts of the ocean on the planet. Will the new show fill the void left by NCIS, which has had its season 21 premiere date delayed because of the Hollywood strikes? We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about NCIS: Sydney.
What is ‘NCIS: Sydney’ about?
In NCIS: Sydney, officers from the Afp – Australia’s equivalent of the FBI – work hand-in-hand with NCIS agents as part of a multinational task force charged with keeping naval crimes in check. NCIS: Sydney Trailer Teases Action and a Dynamic New Team as Iconic Franchise Relocates to Australia
Just when we thought we wouldn't have any NCIS content on the CBS fall schedule, the network called in an assist from NCIS: Sydney.
And now, we have our first look.
CBS dropped the official trailer for NCIS: Sydney Season 1 on Wednesday, and the series certainly capitalizes on its new setting.
It's hard to believe it's taken this long to get an international iteration of the franchise off the ground, but we'll get it on Mondays this fall when NCIS: Sydney debuts in the 10 p.m. Et timeslot.
Off the bat, the series does have the action and teamwork that made its predecessors massive success stories.
"With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a brilliant and eclectic team of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (Afp) are grafted into a multinational taskforce to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet,...

CBS’ fall 2023 schedule unveiled in May featured NCIS: Hawai’i in the Monday 10 Pm slot, following the mothership NCIS series. The ongoing Hollywood strikes changed broadcast networks’ plans but CBS will still have an NCIS original set on an island in the Monday 10 Pm hour this fall — the network announced yesterday that the upcoming Paramount+ Australia series NCIS: Sydney will air on CBS starting Nov. 13.
This morning, the network released a trailer for NCIS: Sydney, which features some familiar images for franchise fans — the signature NCIS uniforms and action on the water. There is also a lot of new scenery, with signature Australian vistas, including the famous Sydney Harbor, and a kangaroo. (You can watch the trailer below.)

You know the phrase, "It gets darkest just before the dawn?" There admittedly may not be any tangible sense that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are nearing an end anytime soon, but we're starting to feel the very real consequences of the studios refusing to negotiate in good faith with the unions. With the vast majority of productions ground to a halt, studios and streamers have put themselves in the position of having to rely on a backlog of movies and shows to help them weather the storm. While some networks have the luxury of churning out an endless wave of, say, "The Walking Dead" spin-offs, others are somewhat less fortunate. All of this is to say that I hope y'all haven't had enough of "NCIS" just yet, because that's what CBS has had to resort to.

CBS has added Paramount+ spinoff “NCIS: Sydney” to its fall lineup, the network announced Tuesday.
The Australia-based series, which marks the franchise’s first-ever international edition, premieres Monday, Nov. 13 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt on CBS with new installments of its eight-episode season airing Mondays in the same time slot. With new seasons of all CBS scripted series delayed by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the network has relied on shows from within Paramount Global and beyond for fresh scripted fare to put on the fall schedule. That will now include an extension of CBS’ biggest drama franchise of the past decade, NCIS, with episodes that will make their U.S. debut on the broadcast network just three days after their worldwide premiere in Australia.

Trying to outdo Nicolas Cage in the number of mediocre movies he can appear in, John Cusack is in yet another movie we didn't know existed (or possibly forgot about). It's called "The Factory," and apparently it's been on DVD since February. Huh. In any case, the U.K. trailer is here, and the folks who cut it really want to make sure a voiceover holds your hand, explaining everything every step of the way. Co-starring Jennifer Carpenter ("Dexter"), Mae Whitman ("Arrested Development") and Katherine Waterston (one of our 2014 Actresses On The Rise), the generic story follows a cop hunting a serial killer who gets more than he bargained for when his own daughter goes missing. Morgan O'Neill (Sam Worthington surf movie "Drift") co-wrote and directed this wintery procedural, which doesn't seem to shake up the genre too much. But hey, if this kind of mediocrity helps Cusack keep his lights on,...

If the 3rd annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards could be categorised as a David vs Goliath battle between The Rocket and The Great Gatsby, Goliath is the hands-down winner.
Baz Luhrmann.s opulent romantic drama won six awards tonight, for best film, director, adapted screenplay, lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio, supporting actor Joel Edgerton and supporting actress Elizabeth Debicki.
That.s in addition to the six awards in craft categories plus the Aacta award for outstanding achievement in visual effects bestowed on Luhrmann.s film on Tuesday.
Kim Mordaunt's The Rocket, which had 12 nominations versus 14 for Gatsby, had to be content with just one trophy, for Mordaunt.s original screenplay.
The outcome is likely to reignite the debate about the near-impossibility of comparing a lavishly-mounted 3D film financed by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures, which cost $160 million, with an independently-funded Lao-set film from a first-time director budgeted at about $2 million.

Tickets are selling fast for the 46th Annual Awgie Awards, to be held in Melbourne on October 4.
To be hosted by writer, comedian and singer Sammy J, the ceremony will honour the achievements made by Australian writers for performance. The Awgie Awards are the only Australian awards judged solely by writers on the basis of the script . the writer's intention . rather than the finished production.
"The Awgies are the highlight of the year for us and a unique chance to celebrate the oft-unsung but stellar work created by Australian writers of the script," says Awg.s President and Academy Award nominee Jan Sardi..
.It.s a night that really just celebrates the importance of story and storytelling. And that.s what sets us apart from other animals in the end, the ability to tell stories..
Sardi says the slate of nominated work is once again a strong one.

Sam Worthington may be a big star in Hollywood action-adventures but Drift, the Australian surfing- set drama in which he co-stars with Myles Pollard and Xavier Samuel, has had a limited release in the Us.
Wrekin Hill Entertainment, which bought North American rights last September, launched the film at 11 cinemas on August 2, a month after the title debuted on Video-on-Demand platforms.
The Us critics gave the film featuring Pollard and Samuel as brothers who build a surfboard/surfwear business in the 1970s, with Worthington as their hippie photographer mate, a cool reception.
As of today, the distributor had not reported any figures to Rentrak, Box Office Mojo, The Numbers or other web sites which track the Us box-office.
Australian films released in Us cinemas and on VoD platforms have not fared well this year. Mental earned just $18,000 in ticket sales and 100 Bloody Acres made $6,000, according to Box Office Mojo.

Origin stories, even non-fiction ones, often make good movies, showing us "How the West was Won" or how demonic possession entered pop culture, pre-"Exorcist" and Amityville ("The Conjuring").
"Drift" is about the birth of the Australian surfing scene and the industry it spawned. It's a fictional goulash of invented characters, arch situations and a predictable journey from enthusiastic hobby to business, with a detour into the drug trade in between.
But it's a lovely thing to look at and an entertaining ride through myth, a well-shot and acted film that stays just ahead of the curl and rarely wipes out.
A prologue introduces us to the Kelly brothers as their mom (Robyn Malcolm) sneaks them out of their abusive Sydney household and sets out for a new life without their brute of a father. The boys convince her to stop in remote Seacliff, in Western Australia. That's where they can surf,...

Not so much drifting as veering between storylines, Ben Nott and Morgan O'Neill's Drift often feels like a film with narrative Add. With likable leads (Xavier Samuel and Myles Pollard as brothers Jimmy and Andy Kelly, plus Sam Worthington supporting as a surf-hippie) and gorgeous scenery, it wouldn't have been difficult to make a charmer about a group of guys building a surfboard manufacturing business. Unfortunately, that's the film Drift might have been, not the film it is. The Kelly brothers are surf enthusiasts in 1970s Australia, when the sport hadn't yet caught on. Jimmy could go pro, while Andy is the thinker who wants to build a business. But the narrative keeps fracturing: Is Drift a sports film about winning the big competition? A gangster movie about smu...
