A new image from Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus has been released (via USA Today), and it gives us another look at one of the movie's Xenomorphs as it bares its terrifying metallic teeth
A few subtle changes aside, the titular creature has pretty much remained the same since it first debuted in Ridley Scott's original classic, and it doesn't look like Romulus is going to alter the design to any great extent.
Check out the new image below, along with a recent video clip of one of the movie's practical Facehuggers.

Alien: Romulus opens exclusively in theaters nationwide August 16, 2024.
The production and set design are incredible – it’s a terrific combination of the Nostromo from the original 1979 film as well as the elevator from the 1986 sequel Alien.
In today’s interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Alvarez said of Ridley Scott and James Cameron:
James Cameron is also someone I’ve met through the years, and when he learned that I was doing it, we started chatting about it. So I also...

Talk about effective trailers. The one-minute teaser for Alien: Romulus captures the terror of being trapped with a creature while not giving away any spoilers.
The teaser arrived along with a poster and new stills from the much-anticipated, long-awaited eighth entry in the Alien franchise. Alien: Romulus is set between 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter director Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead) confirmed how it fits into the Alien universe.
“I love all of those movies. I didn’t want to omit or ignore any of them when it comes to connections at a story level, character level, technology level and creature level. There’s always connections from Alien to Alien: Covenant,” said Álvarez says.
The sci-fi film stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.

Cailee Spaeny has played American royalty in “Priscilla,” a futuristic photojournalist in Alex Garland’s upcoming “Civil War,” and now is leading the reboot of the iconic “Alien” franchise.
Spaeny is front and center in the teaser trailer for 20th Century Studios’ “Alien: Romulus,” set 20 years after the events of the 1979 original film that launched Sigourney Weaver’s action stardom. Spaeny plays scientist Rain Carradine, one of the young space colonizers that come face to face with the titular murderous alien while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station.
“Madame Web” star Isabela Merced is in the cast, as are David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
“Romulus” is the seventh film in the “Alien” franchise — the ninth if you include the “Alien vs. Predator” crossover sci-fi action movies. “Alien” director Ridley Scott produces the film from writer/director Fede Alvarez, who co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues.

“Bullet Train,” Columbia Pictures’ R-rated action film starring Brad Pitt, made 4.6 million at the box office in its Thursday preview screenings, which began at 3 p.m. from 3,595 locations. It opens wide on over 4,300 screens this weekend.
“Bullet Train” may be the last major release of the summer in what will become a relatively quiet period at the box office after it opens, and Sony is in some ways counting on the fact that it will allow the film to leg out beyond its opening weekend. The studio is projecting a 30 million start for the film against a 90 million budget.
For some comparisons, “Free Guy” with Ryan Reynolds opened last August and made 28.4 million in its opening after first bringing in 2.2 million at the Thursday box office. And the R-rated superhero movie “The Suicide Squad” made 26.5 million in its opening after starting with 4.1 million in its Thursday previews, though that film...

Brad Pitt seemed as surprised as anyone when asked at the Bullet Train premiere tonight about his impending retirement.
Pitt had a semi-humorous and very visceral reaction to the question, which was prompted by a recent GQ interview. On the red carpet tonight, he laughed and spun halfway around as if embarrassed before coming back with, “No, I mean…I really have to work on my phrasing.”
He continued, “I was just saying, ‘I’m past middle age and I want to be specific about how I I spend those last things however they may be.’ “
Asked about specifics on those specifics, Pitt said, “I’ve never been a five year plan kind of guy. I’m just, whatever feels right for the day. I still operate that way.”

Brad Pitt has his hands full — and then some — in the colorful new trailer for the upcoming Columbia Pictures action thriller “Bullet Train.”
Directed by David Leitch, the filmmaker behind “Atomic Blonde” and “Deadpool 2,” the film is based on the book “Maria Beetle” by Kotaro Isaka. It follows an unlucky assassin (code name Ladybug) whose latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from across the globe. That this all happens largely on a speeding bullet train in Japan makes the fight all the more difficult, but this new trailer shows Pitt’s character keeping a swell sense of humor in the midst of the violence.
Sandra Bullock co-stars as Pitt’s handler in the second of two films to team up the A-listers, with the first being “The Lost City,” in which Pitt played a dreamy trainer opposite Bullock’s romance novelist.

“Loki” star Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been set as the female co-lead opposite Kevin Hart in the cast of an action film called “Lift” at Netflix.
The film directed by F. Gary Gray has also rounded out its cast and added Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó and Billy Magnussen as co-stars. Yun Jee Kim, Viveik Kalra and Paul Anderson have also joined the cast.
“Lift” is the story of an international heist crew who are recruited to prevent a terrorist attack and must pull off the heist on a plane mid-flight. Daniel Kunka wrote the script after Netflix acquired “Lift” as a spec script and attached Hart and Gray to direct last fall.
“Lift” also falls under Hart and his HartBeat Productions’ creative partnership with Netflix. He’ll produce for HartBeat along with Bryan Smiley. Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Pictures and Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan for 6th & Idaho are also producing.

Brad Pitt is back in action movie mode in the first trailer for “Bullet Train,” which finds the actor battling a gaggle of stylish assassins on a train speeding through Japan.
Based on the book “Maria Beetle” by Kotaro Isaka, “Bullet Train” is directed by “Deadpool 2” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” filmmaker David Leitch – who also happens to be Pitt’s former stunt double. Leitch made his filmmaking debut co-directing the first “John Wick,” and brings his penchant for colorful and stylish action to the enclosed setting of “Bullet Train.”
Pitt nearly worked with Leitch on “Deadpool 2” as he was approached for the role of Cable, ultimately played by Josh Brolin. But the two connected in short order on “Bullet Train,” which puts Pitt front and center. The actor is coming off his first acting Oscar win for his turn in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood...

Oh Hell No follows Sherman (Jack Black) who falls in love with Will’s (Ice Cube) mom. Kitao Sakurai is directing the script from Scot Armstrong, Tracy Oliver, Jessica Gao and Rodney Rothman.
Previously, June 14 Pm: Sony just put two big films on the 2022 schedule: David Leitch’s Bullet Train on April 8, 2022, and the Jack Black-Ice Cube comedy Oh Hell No which Justin Kroll just reported on for July 1, 2022.
Bullet Train will also show in Imax.

Sony Pictures has scheduled two major tentpole films for 2022: David Leitch’s “Bullet Train” will debut on April 8, and Kitao Sakurai’s comedy “Oh Hell No” will release on July 1.
Based on the book “Maria Beetle” by Kotaro Isaka, “Bullet Train” follows five assassins who find themselves on a bullet train in Japan and realize that their assignments are related. The film’s ensemble cast will Brad Pitt, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Brian Tyree Henry, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Benito A Martínez Ocasio and Sandra Bullock.
Leitch, who directed “John Wick” and “Atomic Blonde,” will helm the film from a screenplay by Zak Olkewicz. Kelly McCormick, Leitch and Antoine Fuqua serve as producers on the project. Ryosuke Saegusa, Yuma Terada, Brent O’Connor and Kat Samick are executive producers. It was reported by Variety back in December that the set was shut down due to a Covid scare.

Lionsgate has just released an official plot synopsis for their upcoming Power Rangers movie. The movie, which is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) has started production, and it seems like fans of the franchise are really curious to see what he plans on doing with the property.
I’m not getting excited about this just yet, but as long as the film manages to keep the spirit of the original series, then I think fans will be happy with whatever is thrown at them. I really hope that they actually develop an unexpectedly kick ass Power Rangers movie.
Here’s the synopsis with details on the plot as well as a listing of the full cast of the film:

Hollywood certainly does a great job of banking of our nostalgia. From comic book movies to reboots of beloved film franchises, they certainly know how to tap into our emotional core as human beings, like it or not. The next group to get catered to will be the many generations of Power Rangers fans, a long-running TV series that's been on the small screen since the early 1990s.
Sure, there have been a few movies in the series' long run, but none of them set the world on fire. The first film--which featured Ivan Ooze as the main villain--while a solid attempt to adapt something to the big screen, failed to succeed on many levels, and after that one, the movies only went downhill from there. With this Lionsgate production, the studio hopes to revitalize the brand for a modern audience.
