- Nye met Carl Reiner while entertaining troops in World War II. Both men had entered the Army as regular soldiers, but due to their talents were soon assigned to Special Services, performing in shows across the Pacific. Together they developed a mutual magic for original, entertaining sketches that carried them into their long comedic careers.
- Along with Don Knotts and Tom Poston, Nye was one of the three "Men on the Street" on The Steve Allen Plymouth Show (1956).
- Nye and his wife, Anita, had a son, Peter.
- Nye died at his home in Los Angeles after a long battle with lung cancer.
- On The Beverly Hillbillies (1962), Nye played the step-son of Milburn Drysdale (Raymond Bailey). In real life, Bailey was only 8 years older than Nye.
- In 2023, Louis Nye as "Zombo", was a nominee in the "The Official Horror Host Hall of Fame".
