Pinhead has become the hunted in Boom! Studios’ Hellraiser: Bestiary miniseries, but the holder of the Lament Configuration is fighting like hell to keep his pins from being plucked by poachers. In the fifth issue, due out in December, the head Cenobite receives aid from a surprising source, while the notorious puzzle box makes the rounds at a hospital, and we have a look at two covers for the next installment.
“Over the past three years, Clive Barker has re-imagined the Hellraiser mythos as only he could, building a long-form narrative that became one of the best-received horror comics in recent memory. Now, the Master of Horror takes us into his Bestiary for an anthology series—free of continuity, but full of shocking consequences. This series will feature comics’ rising stars like Ed Brisson (Sheltered) and Michael Moreci (Curse), and the first issue will feature the comics debut of...

Last week was moving week. It’s been a little hectic. It’s cool though, because if my plans go through the way I want them to, you’ll have more Comic Execution than you can handle in about a month. Here’s a hint: Fire & Stone.
Regardless, this week’s column is extra long to make up for last week’s absence. It’s probably not much consolation for you but hey, at least I acknowledge my failures by overcompensating?
Helraiser: Bestiary #1
Writer: Ben Meares, Mark Miller, Victor Lavalle
Artist: Conor Nolan, Colin Lorimer, Carlos Magno
Colorist: Tamra Bonvillain, Michael Garland
Publisher: Boom! Studios
Price: $4 (Digital)
This comic was kind of doomed from the start. You see, when I see the word “bestiary” my immediate association is with roleplaying games, whose massive catalogs of monsters are usually called “bestiaries” so, naturally, I was hoping against hope that Hellraiser...

The universe of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser is a rich and dark one and it is ripe to have writers come in and explore in a multitude of gruesome ways. That is the goal of Boom!’s new Hellraiser: Bestiary mini-series. This first issue of the six-part anthology is a bit of a mixed bag, as is the case with many anthologies.
The first story, “Symphony in Red”, written by Ben Meares and Mark Miller and art by Conor Nolan is a flawed, but a fun and twisted ride. Set in Hell and told from the point-of-few of the Female Cenobite, the story focuses on her watching, as Pinhead is acting more bloodthirsty than ever. His bloodlust is so insatiable that he is neglecting his other duties as Hell’s high priest. The strengths of this story lie in the grisly visuals as Pinhead tortures and tears apart hopeless sinners,...

The traveler of multiple realms, it’s no surprise that Pinhead is no stranger to the panels of comic books. His return to the medium this time is via Boom! Studios’ mini-series, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Bestiary, that hits shelves with its first issue this August with a Tales From The Crypt-like anthology format. One of the story arcs features a seemingly impossible and suicidal mission for a team of mercenaries: the stealing of the head Cenobite’s pins.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Bestiary #1 will be available online and in comic book shops on August 20th. We have the official details and looks at all three covers below:
July 24, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA - “Award-winning publisher Boom! Studios invites horror fans to open the puzzle box and explore all-new tales of the LeMarchand Device with Clive Barker’S Hellraiser: Bestiary, a new anthology-style limited series that picks...

After a brief hiatus, Boom! Studios is getting ready to launch a new Hellraiser comic book mini-series in August. This time, the series will go with a Tales From The Crypt-like anthology format, giving us new tales in the Hellraiser universe from a variety of popular and upcoming writers. Here’s a look at the cover art for Hellraiser: Bestiary #1:
“Why We Love It: Over the past three years, Clive Barker has re-imagined the Hellraiser mythos as only he could, building a long-form narrative that became one of the best-received horror comics in recent memory. Now, the Master of Horror takes us into his Bestiary for an anthology series free of continuity, but full of shocking consequences.
Why You’LL Love It: Hellraiser: Bestiary will pick up where classic horror comics anthologies like Tales From The Crypt, Vault of Horror, and the more recent Flinch left off.

File this under "things that make us go hmmmm."
When Princess Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed died in a terrible car crash in 1997, some people pointed fingers at the paparazzi that were chasing their car at the time. Plenty chalked it up to, well, an accident. Meanwhile, a smaller group of people cooked up conspiracy theories that the royal family had something to do with the accident.
Sounds like Dodi's dad Mohamed and director Keith Allen (father of singer Lily Allen) are part of the latter group. Allen's new doc "Unlawful Killing" offers up a bevy of possible baddies behind the crash, from Nazis to arms dealers. Allen had some trouble getting the funds for his flick, so the elder Al-Fayed ponied up the money.
"Unlawful Killing" premiered at Cannes and has a few distribution deals in place in Europe, and now it seems that the Us isn't far behind.

Hollywoodnews.com: The film didn’t make as big of a splash at Cannes as one might have thought, but not it seems that audiences will be able to see the conspiracy-stirring Princess Diana documentary “Unlawful Killing” and judge for ourselves whether director Keith Allen is off the mark or on to something larger.
Allen’s film, financed by the late Dodi Al-Fayed’s father, Mohamed, paints a theory that places blame on Diana’s automobile death on the Royals family. And now it has secured “key distribution deals” in such places as Russia and Spain, with an eye on securing a North American deal, THR reports.
“We’re determined to have a major North American release, whether in theaters or on television,” said Conor Nolan, an employee of Al-Fayed’s production company. He also said that distributors in Japan, Italy and Australia are interested.

The actor is in Cannes – where Unlawful Killing is not being shown – to squeeze as much festival publicity as he can
"It's made from my point of view," said Keith Allen as he defended his film about Princess Diana's death, Unlawful Killing. "It's what the French call being an auteur."
Every so often a little invented scandal blows into Cannes; a harmless, or not so harmless, flurry of carefully created media noise for a film that, while nothing to do with the festival's official programme, uses Cannes to lever in credibility by association.
So it was with this new film by Allen, an actor who once appeared in Shallow Grave. It is being touted as the film you will never see in Britain – lawyers have demanded 87 cuts before it can be certificated. Some may say: lucky Britain.
