To his early movies as a director belong "Hoffmanns Erzählungen" (1924) where he appeared as an actor simultaneously.
In 1933 he was drove out of Germany by the National Socialists because of his Jewish root. He based in Austria, later he went to Italy and Spain.
His last film works came into being in the 50's .
He began his career at the end of the 1910's in Austria. There he appeared among others at the Josefstädter theater.
His brother Eugen Neufeld was also a famous actor.
