An eight-hour drama inspired by Carolyn Arnold’s “Madison Knight” detective novels is being developed by Muse Entertainment and Pop Fiction Entertainment.
Hélène Joy will star as Madison Knight, a daring detective who works to investigate criminals throughout the series. Orion Lee (“First Cow”) will portray Knight’s work partner, Detective Steven Hung. The action-packed crime drama is set on both the Pacific coastline of Sydney, Australia and the wilderness of British Columbia, Canada.
“As I read the books, I was immediately taken with Madison as a leading female character. She is unapologetic, unpredictable and deeply flawed. An extremely reluctant heroine if you will. What I love most is her sardonic nature and deeply sarcastic sense of humor. She doesn’t suffer fools and has little time for small talk,” said Joy, on her new role of Knight, in a statement.
Australian writer Justin Monjo and Canadian writer Lynn Coady are developing the series.

BBC One’s police corruption series Line Of Duty returned for its sixth season on Sunday night with a record audience of 9.56 million.
The World Productions drama, written by Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio, beat its previous best overnight performance of 9.1M viewers for Season 5’s finale back in 2019, according to overnight Barb figures supplied by overnights.tv. It was the highest-rated show in the UK on Sunday night.
Line Of Duty’s 9.6M viewers for BBC One made it the best performing drama on UK television since Bodyguard broadcast in 2018, per UK trade Broadcast. Its audience will only rise once streaming and catch-up viewing is factored in.
The crime drama was not, however, able to beat Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s brutally honest interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was watched by 11.3M viewers on ITV in the UK earlier this month.

Alastair McKinnon.
A generational change is sweeping through Matchbox Pictures as the NBCUniversal-owned production company develops a raft of projects with emerging writers and producers.
“Talent development has always been a priority for Matchbox,” says Alastair McKinnon, who started as MD last December after three years with the ABC, most recently as head of content investment and planning,
McKinnon signed on just as the company founded by Penny Chapman, Tony Ayres, Helen Bowden, Michael McMahon and Helen Panckhurst was celebrating its 10th anniversary. “That was the perfect time to reflect and think about what Matchbox has done incredibly successfully over that time as the leading drama production company in Australia,” he tells If in his first interview since taking charge.
“But the industry has transformed in that 10 years and is unrecognisable if you think about the sorts of shows, how they are financed and the distribution models of drama.

Robert Rabiah in ‘Safe Harbour’
After a self-imposed exile, Robert Rabiah is returning to the screen early next year in Maziar Lahooti’s Below, an action-drama set in a refugee detention centre.
The actor decided he needed a break after playing Bilal in Matchbox Pictures’ Sbs miniseries Safe Harbour directed by Glendyn Ivin.
Bilal’s brother Ismail (Hazem Shammas) and sister-in-law Zahra (Nicole Chamoun), Iraqi asylum seekers, were struck by tragedy when their nine-year-old daughter died after their vessel sank.
Rabiah tells If: “Bilal was such a draining character to play. Even though a lot of scenes didn’t make the cut, feeling my stomach turn every morning was intense and I just needed to travel for a while.”

10.6 Extremis
“Knock yourself out. Actually, do that. Knock yourself right out”
When the ‘a long time ago’ card popped up, and a voiceover kicked in talking about death, I wondered if the latest Doctor Who story, Extremis would be breaking the steady, confident style that’s been winning people over so much this run. Or at least departing from it a little. Here, the episode looked like it was going to zip about more, and that the pace was to be ramped up as a consequence. Not a bad thing depending on the story of course, but not...

Doctor Who series 10 reaches its half-way point - and Steven Moffat's Extremis isn't letting the side down...
10.6 Extremis
And this is the episode where it all slows down a little. Where Doctor Who starts to position itself for the second half of series 10. Where Steven Moffat returns on scripting duties, and lays down things that firmly keep the ethos of the series thus far in place, but also opens – no, stop looking for clues, because you ain’t getting spoilers here, no matter how hard you look – a few metaphorical things up.
Extremis picks up at the exact same point we left things at the end of Oxygen, and for the benefit of those who’ve avoided the next time trailers, I’ll skip a few things even that appeared in that. Likely, you know what bits I’m talking about.
The Doctor, then, remains blinded as we meet him,...

Guy Pearce and Roy Billing in Jack Irish.
Asked how he's doing after a whirlwind year, screenwriter Andrew Knight is characteristically understated:.
"I'm alive and trying to construct a breakfast at the moment".
In between film work last year, Knight wrote new seasons of Rake and Jack Irish simultaneously, a process he calls "a blur"..
The new Jack.begins this Thursday - a six-part series instead of the earlier telemovies.
Knight calls the change "liberating"..
"We had more time to tell a story. The hard part was working out where everything would fall. We had an overall story, but assigning things episodically was a constant trade-off and shifting game"..
"I worked closely with the other two writers, Matt Cameron and Andrew Anastasios. The three of us would go away and write our bits, then we'd come back and say - that needs to move, this needs to shift"..

Doctor Who, Series 9, Episodes 7 and 8, “The Zygon Invasion” and “The Zygon Inversion”
Written by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat (“The Zygon Inversion”)
Directed by Daniel Nettheim
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America
Doctor Who’s season of two-parters carries on with the return of the Zgyons, fan-favorite baddies from the classic series who have reared their suction-cupped heads a few times in NuWho. Most memorably, they were at the center of the fantastic 50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor”, and it’s fitting that writers Peter Harness and Steven Moffat intrinsically tie this story to that special. While many were undoubtedly excited to see the shape-shifting villains return, more exciting for this Whovian is the return of Osgood, after her irritatingly-handled murder in “Death in Heaven”. Though in “The Day of the Doctor” she is little more than a stand-in for the fandom, Ingrid Oliver made...

Our viewing notes and geeky spots for Doctor Who series 9: The Zygon Inversion...
We’re now eight episodes into this series of Doctor Who, and after tonight you can’t complain that they’re not giving Peter Capaldi enough to do. In an episode unlike any we’ve had before, there didn’t seem to be much room for references, allusions and other such things; the ones we did spot are listed below. Did we get them all, or were we too caught up in Mr Capaldi’s eyebrows to notice some? Let us know in the comments!
Five References Rapid
This isn’t the first time aliens have posed as policemen; in 1971’s Terror Of The Autons, a memorable sequence saw the third Doctor pull off a policeman’s face to reveal a blank plastic dummy underneath. The sequence drew a number of complaints -...

Doctor Who's terrific Zygon two-parter continues this Saturday with The Zygon Inversion. Here's a stack of new pictures from the episode...
The Zygon Invasion concluded on Saturday night with a rocket-powered cliff-hanger and queries galore. Will everyone survive? Will the insurance premium on those planes go through the roof? And most importantly, where can we buy a pair of question-mark underpants?
Answering those questions (we hope) is The Zygon Inversion, which airs on BBC One at the slightly earlier-than-usual time of 8pm on Saturday the 7th of November. Once again written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim, the episode is set to feature Unit, Ingrid Oliver, and the usual suspects.
Here's the official synopsis, which, in time-honoured style, isn't giving a great deal away:
Shapeshifting Zygons are everywhere in the UK, and there is no way of knowing who to trust. With Unit neutralised,...

Surprising, bold and ambitious, The Zygon Inversion is the best Doctor Who episode of the current series, and not unwilling to take risks...
The spoilers you get in The Zygon Inversion aren't, I'd argue, the reason that we didn't get a 'Next Time' preview when The Zygon Invasion credits were rolling. Last week ended, after all, with a surface to air missile heading towards a plane carrying the Doctor. It perhaps goes without saying that the Doctor is not dead by the end of the episode, but that hardly explains the lack of a promo trailer.
What does, however, is how tricky The Zygon Inversion is to distil into a 30 second promo. This is a surprising, bold, ambitious concluding part of a story, that's willing to take some real risks rather than go down a well-beaten track. As such, it's bound to leave a few people behind.

The Zygons return! Here's our spoiler-filled review of The Zygon Invasion...
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
9.7 The Zygon Invasion
“Did you just call yourself Doctor Disco?”
[Review has been updated to correct two factual errors. Apologies!]
It’s a while since a Doctor Who story needed to start with a bit of an exposition dump, but The Zygon Invasion is as dense an opening chapter of an adventure as we’ve seen in some time.
As the prologue demonstrates, this is a story that picks up from crumbs left behind in the wonderful Day Of The Doctor. And then it jumps, still pre-credits, to explain why Ingrid Oliver’s Osgood is still alive.
After all, we saw her brutally slain by Missy at the end of series 8, and yet it’s been known for some time that Oliver would be back. It is, of course, the ecosystem modern television exists in, whereby secrets...

Unit, shape-shifters and the Doctor cosplay. Here are the geeky bits and pieces we spotted in Doctor Who's The Zygon Invasion...
For at least the third time this series, one or all of the characters you care about on this show are dead. So what better way to celebrate than to read through our weekly list of callbacks, allusions, shared themes and generally interesting (if tenuous) nonsense? As ever, feel free to leave your own contributions in the comments below!
The Old-Who Invasion
This is the third appearance of the Zygons in Doctor Who; they first menaced the fourth Doctor in 1975’s Terror Of The Zygons, a story which revealed the Loch Ness Monster to be one of the Skarasen, a race from the Zygon homeworld. Unit also featured in that tale, with Kate’s father Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart revealing his Scots heritage in a fetching kilt.

Joining them will be some familiar faces from Unit, namely Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and, well, if you don't know already, a look at the image gallery above will certainly tell you. As will this official episode synopsis, in fact:

Based in the Us for the past three years, Kieran Darcy-Smith had not seen the Jack Irish telepics when he was offered the gig as set-up director of the spin-off series starring Guy Pearce as a former criminal lawyer turned private investigator and debt collector.
After watching the telepics and reading the scripts for the 6-part ABC series by Andrew Knight, Matt Cameron and Andrew Anastasios, Darcy-Smith readily agreed.
In his first TV drama assignment, the director whose breakthrough was Wish You Were Here is directing two episodes and Mark Joffe and Daniel Nettheim are each helming two. Essential Media and Entertainment.s Ian Collie is the series producer.
.The scripts are sensational; this is as good as TV drama gets,. Kieran tells If as shooting is underway in Melbourne to be followed by a week in the Philippines. .I am working with the A-team..

Humans, Season One, “Episode Four”
Written by Joe Barton
Directed by Daniel Nettheim
Airs Sundays at 9 pm (Et) on AMC
Laura’s suspicions that Anita wasn’t like other synths has grown over the course of the series, giving the audience a deeper look into her psyche and aversion to synths, and what drives it. Her reluctance has gradually given way to interest, and this week’s episode delves further into Laura’s exploration of the possibility of synth emotions. The result is an entertaining, if somewhat disproportionately focused episode, that manages to introduce ambiguity to both Laura and Mattie with regards to how they’ll handle the idea of sentient synths, while fleshing out Pete Drummond and his storyline.
Laura’s examination of synths continues to be a fascinating storyline, and may be the first positive hope of acceptance for synths who gain consciousness. It’s apparent...

With the synths who gained consciousness getting separated and scatted in the Humans pilot, much of the subsequent episodes have focused on how the synths have dealt with the aftermath, along with following the trials and tribulations of Leo and Max as the duo try to find them. This week’s episode puts the focus on both Niska and Anita in the aftermath of last week’s ending, examining how the two adjust to their changed circumstances. The result is a strong episode that continues to effectively build the show’s world while opening some fascinating directions for characters to go in.

It has been announced that Osgood will be returning to Doctor Who… and she’s bringing the Zygons back with her!
The popular character – who has been a fan favourite since her first appearance in The Day of the Doctor – was dramatically killed by Missy during the Series 8 finale but it was confirmed today that “anything can happen” as Ingrid Oliver will be reprising the role for Episodes 7 and 8 of the upcoming ninth series.
And that’s not all! The Unit scientist will also be accompanied by the Zygons who cloned her in the 50th anniversary special, which suggests that the Doctor might not be able to trust his biggest fan this time.
Ingrid Oliver commented:
“As every actor who’s worked on Doctor Who will tell you, there’s aways the secret hope you’ll get the call asking you to come back. To actually receive that call is both unexpected and brilliant.

Unit scientist Osgood, played by Ingrid Oliver, returns to Doctor Who for season nine. Having been killed by Missy (Michelle Gomez) in the show’s season eight finale ‘Death in Heaven’, Steven Moffat decided to bring back the Doctor’s biggest fan.
Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, said: “Osgood is back, fresh from her recent murder at the end of last series. We recently confirmed that Osgood was definitely dead and not returning – but in a show about time travel, anything can happen. The brilliant Ingrid Oliver is back in action. This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?”
This time she’s back in action and comes face-to-face with the shape-shifting extra-terrestrial Zygons, as they also return for the new season. They last appeared in ‘The Day of the Doctor’ for the show’s 50th anniversary episode.

Channel 4 drama Glue captivated audiences in 2014, and now the series's official soundtrack has been released.
Ivor Novello-nominated composed Walter Mair produced the score for the show, which followed events surrounding a murder in rural England.
Mair said: "Glue was a fantastic experience that required me to leave the picturesque countryside of England behind and dive into a gloomy and sinister England.
"The music focuses on the relationship between the main characters and their playful and emotive nature, which ultimately heads into much darker territory."
Glue director Daniel Nettheim added: "Walter is a wonderful collaborator and true craftsman of music for the screen.
"His entrancing score elevates the emotion and drama of the series to another cinematic level."
The official Glue soundtrack is released by eOne Music.
Glue's young cast included Yasmin Paige (Submarine), Rizzle Kicks' Jordan Stephens, Charlotte Spencer (Line of Duty), Tommy Lawrence Knight (The Sarah Jane Adventures...

Chernin Entertainment, which has a first-look deal with Fox, had pitched the idea of a one-hour series adapted from Essential Media and Entertainment.s trio of telepics starring Guy Pearce as a former criminal lawyer turned private investigator and debt collector.
The script was written by Anna Fricke (Being Human), who would have served as the showrunner, and Seamus Kevin Fahey (Spartacus: Blood and Sand).

Glue, the highly-anticipated new drama series created and written by BAFTA-winning writer Jack Thorne, comes to E4 on Monday 15th September at 10:00pm.
Set in a small village called Overton, it's about the murder of a boy, and how it affects his friends and the community that they live in.
Yasmine Paige plays Ruth Rosen, a 20 year old provisional police officer from a Romany background. She and her Romany mum are estranged from the travelling community, but that doesn’t stop Ruth. Not much does. Not being a young single mum, or the fact that she lives in the same village as a group of friends who no longer talk to her. She’s made of stronger stuff, or at least she thinks she is. Yasmine (represented by Curtis Brown), starred in the critically-acclaimed Submarine, and was named as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2010.
Charlotte Spencer plays 19 year old Tina Fallon.
