As season six of Virgin River starts production, Netflix confirms that a prequel is also in the works to the hit show.
Romantic drama Virgin River, based on the popular book series by Robyn Carr, has grown into one of Netflix’s biggest hits since it launched on the streamer in 2019.
Running for five seasons thus far, the plot follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected.
The show stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel, alongside Martin Henderson as he love interest Jack. Other cast members include Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O’Toole and Tim Matheson.

The Virgin River prequel is currently in development at Netflix, Deadline reports. The show would focus on Mel’s mother, Sarah, and her relationship with Everett Reid.

Netflix is developing a “Virgin River” prequel series.
“Virgin River” follows the lives of the residents of the eponymous Northern California town, including nurse practitioner Mel (Breckenridge), bar owner and veteran Jack (Henderson), town doctor Doc (Matheson), mayor Hope (O’Toole) and many more.
If ordered to series, the prequel would follow Mel’s parents: Sarah Jensen, who died when Mel was young, and Everett Reed (John Allen Nelson), who was revealed as Mel’s biological father in Season 6 finale “Father Christmas.”
“Virgin River” premiered in 2019 and is now in production on its sixth season. Exclusive: It’s double dose of good news for Virgin River fans. Netflix is looking to expand the Virgin River world with a spinoff series, Deadline has learned. Meanwhile, Season 6 of the romantic drama, delayed by strikes and weather, is starting production today in Vancouver.
Before Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) sweeping Virgin River romance, Mel’s late mother Sarah too fell in love with a man from the picturesque Northern California town, Everett, who was revealed in the recent Virgin River Christmas special as Mel’s biological father.
The potential prequel, which is currently in development, will explore Sarah and Everett’s origin story. The upcoming Season 6 will provide a glimpse into the duo’s past, featuring young Everett and Sarah in flashbacks.
Casting is underway for actors to play the characters as guest stars in Season 6 of Virgin River.

In 1989, the movie Best of the Best had a somewhat abbreviated run in theaters. Only grossing a mere $1.7 million, the movie was a major hit on home video and cable. That’s why, three years later, a sequel, Best of the Best 2, hit theaters… for a while. While the first film has maintained a certain cult status, the sequel, and the two more that followed, have been largely forgotten – until now on this edition of The Best Movie You Never Saw.
Best of the Best 2 came from the same creative team behind the original, including director Robert Radler and producer/ star Phillip Rhee. Intriguingly, it was co-written by a TV actor of the time named John Allen Nelson, who starred on Baywatch for a few seasons, played Paul The Wine Guy on Friends, and has shown up as a guest actor on most of the biggest shows on TV.

Thirty-five years down the line from the release of the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here), fans of the film have access to a whole lot of tie-in merchandise, have made their way through Killer Klowns-themed mazes at Halloween Horror Nights events, and have a video game to look forward to… but we still haven’t seen the sequel the film’s creators have been anxious to make for decades. Now, speaking with SFX magazine, Killer Klowns from Outer Space director Stephen Chiodo has revealed that he’s hoping to bring the sequel idea to life as an eight episode mini-series!
Chiodo told SFX (with thanks to Coming Soon for sharing the text), “My goal is to do an eight-part miniseries for streamers. We’ve got a great concept that continues the story of our main characters. We’ll follow a new group of teenagers...

[This story contains major spoilers from season five, parts one and two, of Virgin River.]
Virgin River showrunner Patrick Sean Smith wanted the newly released holiday episodes of the Netflix series to feel lighter, given the weight of season five.
Following the part one release of 10 intense and emotional episodes (on Sept. 7) — which saw a wildfire hit Virgin River, an illegal drug business showdown, a sexual assault court trial and a difficult miscarriage — Smith knew he wanted the two holiday episodes that are now streaming to have a “feeling of family and warmth.”
Still, the beloved small town couldn’t escape at least some drama this holiday season, including Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) tracking down her biological father, who also lives in Virgin River. And of course, there’s no Virgin River seasonal event — this time, the Christmas tree decorating contest — without some challenges.
But as Smith looks ahead to the already renewed next season, he admits that his “intention was never to have...

A major Virgin River mystery has been solved. The two-part Christmas special dropped on Netflix on Nov. 30, and it revealed the answer to the question fans have been asking for months: Who is Mel Monroe’s biological father? The man in question – played by John Allen Nelson – wasn’t anyone we’ve seen before on the show, but if his face looks familiar, there’s a good reason. Nelson’s long career includes roles in a popular soap opera, an iconic 1990s TV show, and a brief appearance in one of the most popular sitcoms in TV history.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about the Virgin River Christmas special
Netflix’s Virgin River closed out its fifth season with a two-episode Christmas special set during the holidays, more than three months after the “Labor Day” Season 5 Part 1 finale. As suggested by the aptly titled Episode 512, “Father Christmas,” the special’s main storyline follows the bombshell cliffhanger in the Part 1 finale, that Mel’s biological father is likely a man from Virgin River.
With only a couple of clues to his identity in the man’s love letters to Mel and Joey’s mom Sarah to go off of, Mel and Jack launched a search that eventually led them to Everett Reid, who lives in a cabin outside of Virgin River. At first, he wanted nothing to do with Mel but by the end of the two-hour special, in a true holiday spirit, he came around and,...

A couple months ago, it was announced that a video game based on the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it Here) will be released for PC, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One sometime in 2023. It's a balmy summer evening, the stars are out, and something strange just dropped out of the sky and landed in the woods near your hometown. What should you do? Warn the sheriff, knowing he never really listens to punk kids like you anyway? Investigate and poke it with a stick? Or ignore it and carry on making out in the back of your Convertible?
All the above answers are viable and correct if you're a stock character in a B movie horror involving hostile visitors from outer space, who like parking up on the edge of a small town where the hicks are too dumb to realize what is going on until it's almost too late. The premise was a staple of the atomic-era science fiction of the 1950s, and many directors who grew up with fond memories of those movies made their own versions in the 1980s.

Though they exist to entertain and make us laugh, there are few things people find scarier than clowns. Why that is, I cannot say; it’s a combination of the makeup, I think, and the fact that there is a person in there whose motivations for hiding under that makeup are unclear. As such, they have been a staple of the horror genre for close to 40 years, whether it’s Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King’s It (the novel and the two film adaptations) or the clown that attacks poor Robbie in Poltergeist or the undead clown in Zombieland or the spate of horror films from just the last few years all based around clowns: Stitches, Terrifier, Clown, and, most recently, Gags. While some may be scarier and they all vary in quality and degrees of success, there is no better clown horror movie than Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you have not watched Friday's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season two finale. No, the wedding didn't happen. Of course it didn't happen. This is Rebecca Bunch and Josh Chan we're talking about here, two people who were very clearly never suited for each other romantically, despite Rebecca's obsession with her teenage crush. Plus, this wedding came together in two weeks, due to the sheer fear Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) felt a couple episodes back after kissing her boss, Nathaniel (Scott Michael Foster), in an elevator. Watch: Rebecca and Josh Ignore Their Problems 'Soul Train'-Style in 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' We thought the biggest shock was if Rebecca was walked down the aisle by her distant, negligent father (who did actually show up for the wedding -- more on that later) and heard Father Brah (Rene Gube) tell Josh, "You may now kiss the bride, bro." Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Season 2 finale was billed as Rebecca and Josh’s big wedding day, and we did see some vows being made… just maybe not the vows we were expecting.
Josh was feeling a bit jittery, especially when a stressed-out Rebecca blurted out the name “Robert.” (Who’s that now?) Plus, her psycho former fling Trent popped back into the picture to drop an envelope full of Rebecca’s past misdeeds in Josh’s lap. Josh nobly threw that envelope in the trash… but he also ditched Rebecca at the altar to join Father Brah in the priesthood (!). Rebecca...

‘While juggling aspects of comedy, science fiction, and horror, Killer Klowns provides a thoroughly entertaining experience.’
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Written by the Chiodos Brothers
Directed by Stephen Chiodos
USA, 1988
Drawing heavily on their experience in the special effects industry of the 1980s, the Chiodos Brothers’ only self-written and directed film is as unique as it is entertaining. Killer Klowns from Outer Space delivers exactly what it promises – a campy flick about the invasion of a small town by murderous alien clowns.
While Killer Klowns has been somewhat awkwardly labelled a ‘Comedy Sci-Fi Horror’, the movie is really just pure, good old-fashioned Camp. It quickly establishes (or rather, exposes) its not-to-be-taken-seriously nature during the opening credits, as the maniacal laughter of clowns grows progressively louder until the film’s title flashes and the main theme is cued. The theme – an 80′s-style punk song with riffs built on classic circus...

I absolutely adore 24 and as a die-hard fan I think it's a brilliant show. It not only revolutionized television with its real-time format, but has been consistently entertaining since day one. Kiefer Sutherland was already somewhat of a star when the series premiered, but he became a household name synonymous with his character Jack Bauer, a hard as nails government agent out to protect the innocent and seek justice at the cost of his own life. I'm just as sorry as any fan to see the show go after eight seasons, but I'm also relieved. 24 has grown more than a little tired over the years, with story-lines and plot devices that have become incredibly familiar. That's because much of what we see has occurred before and every story line, plot thread or turn of events feels directly copied from previous seasons. Jack and his colleagues not only find themselves in the same situations,...

Tonight, the CW airs the season finale of Privileged. While some may have been hoping for a nice happy resolutions, the TV show is leaving plenty of cliffhangers. Will the cast and crew return with season two to answer them?
The story of Privileged opens as Yale-educated Megan Smith (JoAnna Garcia) begins working for cosmetics tycoon Laurel Limoges (Anne Archer). She's hired as the live-in tutor for Laurel's twin teenage granddaughters, Rose (Lucy Kate Hale) and Sage Baker (Ashley Newbrough). Megan's ultimate goal is to make sure that the spoiled girls are accepted into a top university. Though the twins seem to have every advantage, it's no easy task. After the immediate success of ABC's Lost and Desperate Housewives, the networks thought that viewers wanted to see more serial dramas. That didn't work out very well.

Before Kelton can tell what he's uncovered, he's murdered and Agent Daniel Lucas (Eddie Cibrian), takes over the case.
