Jacqueline Murphy is an award-winning actress, director, and filmmaker. Her series The Admired (2017), which she starred in, created, produced, directed, and co-wrote, has won over 50 film festival awards. This includes 12 Awards for Best Short Film, 7 for Best Lead Actress (Jacqueline Murphy), 4 Best Original Screenplay, 2 Best Directing, and 2 Best New TV Series and Web Series. "The Admired" is also a multi-award-winning Web Series. The show evolved into the TV series Sorceress of Hollywood
The Admired was also on the Television Academy's For Your Consideration (FYC) Ballot for Emmy Nomination in the Short Form Drama Category. Jacqueline was considered for Outstanding Actress, Producer, Director and Writer. Jacqueline was also on the TV Academy's For Your Consideration (FYC) Ballot for Emmy nomination in Pepito's Mamadas (2022) as Outstanding Actress and Executive Producer in the Short Form Comedy, Drama category, she plays the role of Councilwoman Miriam Price.
The Television Academy appointed Jacqueline as a Moderator for the Performers Peer Group in 2024.
Working as a television host for Entertainment Today (1992) interviewing celebrities on the red carpet, Jacqueline has since launched her own show, Entertainment with Jacqueline Murphy (2024)

Appearing in Warner Brothers Run All Night (2015) she had scenes with Liam Neeson and Ed Harris. She was also cast in Gradation (2019) as a Music Company Mogul, You Have a Nice Flight (2017) as "Blondie," a model who sells jewelry on QVC, & Fake (2015) where she plays Jackie: a Southern Belle Socialite/Ex Beauty Queen. Jacqueline's other film appearances include: "Cop Out" as Reporter Susi Stevens & the remake of "Arthur" as Dr. Julia Fields, Golden Key (2013) with the lead role of Vera and Southern dysComfort (2012) as a Southern Socialite.
She began her career as an actress in NYC. She had the good fortune to work in films with directors such as Martin Scorsese in "Goodfellas", Woody Allen in "Radio Days" & "Hannah and Her Sisters", Mike Nichols in "Regarding Henry" and "Wolf," Ron Howard "The Paper", Nora Ephron in "Mixed Nuts", Barbet Schroeder in "Kiss of Death" and "Reversal of Fortune", Leonard Nimoy "3 Men & A Baby" and Kevin Smith in "Cop Out". She was inspired by these great directors and decided to expand her career into directing, producing, and writing. "The Admired" marked her debut as a film director, writer and producer.
Jacqueline has her Registered Nurse license, and after completing acting school at AADA & Stella Adler, she was discovered by ABC's "All My Children," where she had a recurring role as "Nurse Thomas," and on "Guiding Light," she recurred as Darlene. She continued to play many nurses & doctors in television and film and also medically consulted on set. She guest starred in several of the "Law & Order" franchises and is known for playing Lawyer Emily Trudeau in Semi-Professional (2002) and Law & Order (1990) as Nurse Lloyd.
Cast in TV pilots "N.Y.J.D" as a tough lawyer, Meryl, and "Upper East Side" as socialite Christina Larraby. One of her comedic roles includes"The Cheerleader Coach" in a National Geico spot airing with the Caveman & NFL Star Brian Orakpo.
In past Oscar seasons at "Night of 100 Stars," she had the pleasure of interviewing many stars on the Red Carpet: Jon Voight, Harry Hamlin, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and many others. She also served as the talk show host of the Fred Astaire Awards, interviewing award winners Tommy Tune and Harold Prince.
Among her favorite theatre roles, she played the lead role of Kate Keller (Helen Keller's mom) in The Miracle Worker at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, directed by Murphy Davis. Other Theatre credits include the lead roles of Lynn Roberts in "Take it To the Bank" and Fremda the James Bond Girl at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She originated the role of Linda in "Merry Christmas Baby" at Playwrights Horizon and performed in Guild Hall Theatre East Hamptons-75th Anniversary as Edith in "The Women."
Born in New York, she grew up on Long Island and is the oldest of six children. Her mother was an artist and could play any song on the piano and accordion just by hearing it. Jacqueline also plays piano. An avid painter, she studied Art and Art History at Hunter College. In addition to her love for painting, playing piano, and her other interests, she also taught Yoga. Her passion for traveling led her to make short videos of her adventures to China, India, Egypt, Jordan, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Morocco, Japan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. She resides in New York and Los Angeles.
She is a published writer on events such as The American Film Market, Entertainment and Sports Today, and Digital Hollywood. Her charity work led her to be the host of various charity events such as "The Women's Project Gala," where Eve Ensler, Vivian Tam, and Kathy Hilton were honored, and the "Asia Society's 50th Anniversary," where Ang Lee, Mia Lynn, and Vivian Tam were honored.
Jacqueline has a BSN and RN degree. She has worked with disabled children and is on the committee for "The Pony Awards," which helps children at Marymount Center. She has been a Voting Member of the Television Academy since 2012, a member of New York Women in Film & Television and the Creative Coalition since 2013. New York Women in Film & Television screened her film "The Admired" for their membership. She is writing a feature called Yellowbird and the Titan, additional episodes for The Admired TV Series, and a feature film based on it called Sorceress of Hollywood
