Born in Evansville, Indiana in 1949, one-time Disney favorite Roger Mobley was one of eight talented children who could sing and play musical instruments. Roger was the novelty portion (age 3) of a singing trio, which included an older brother and sister. Performing in carnivals and fairs, the kids eventually made an appearance on "The Ted Mack Show" where a talent agent spotted Roger and signed him up. A regular role on the "Fury" TV series came about in 1957 and he stayed with the show for almost three years. None of the other Mobley children went into show biz. Roger was already appearing in a number of TV westerns and a few lowbudget films when Disney signed him up. He became the new teen star replacing an out-of-favor Tommy Kirk. Finding modest popularity as the amateur junior sleuth Gallagher for three seasons on "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color," Roger appeared in a couple of the studio's popular feature films, notably Emil and the Detectives (1964). His stay was not a long one, however. The 'Vietnam Era' approached and, with the changing times, lost audience favor. Roger was drafted in 1968, went to Vietnam, married his high school sweetheart Shari in 1970, had three children, and eventually found a job with the Police Department. He attempted a comeback with Disney in the late 70s but only nabbed a couple of bit roles. He later became a pastor in Texas.
