Monice Mitchell Simms is an award-winning screenwriter, author, filmmaker, playwright, journalist, podcaster, EP-Showrunner and a Producer Guild of America Diversity alum.
Recently, a staff writer in BET+'s "All the Queen's Men," Monice recently wrote, executive produced and was the showrunner for the 10-episode docuseries, "Discovering West Africa with World Wide Nate," for Wondrium. Monice also adapted the film, "Redeemed," to the screen for BET+ and Apple TV+. She wrote, produced and directed the short films, "Carmin's Choice" and "Rain," for Showtime, and she co-wrote-produced the independent documentary, "Two Classes of 1968." Monice has authored seven books, including her children's tale, "Nana's Fridge," and her historical fiction novel, "Address: House of Corrections," is also a fan favorite audio drama on Apple scripted podcasts.
A native daughter of Detroit, Monice holds a BA in journalism from Wayne State University, a MFA in film from Columbia College Chicago and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology.
Constantly creating, Monice has a slate of original and adapted projects in development.
