John Miller-Monzon is a veteran creative producer and executive for film & tv. He launched his producing career working on all 3 seasons of Comedy Central's cult classic STRANGERS WITH CANDY. JMM's first notable projects in the documentary arena were two Emmy-nominated miniseries, A DECADE UNDER THE INFLUENCE and MARTIN SCORSESE PRESENTS THE BLUES: A MUSICAL JOURNEY. Feature and television documentary credits include Oscar winner THE COVE, Indie Spirit Award winner CRAZY LOVE, Peabody Award winner BLACK MAGIC, and Emmy winner MISSION BLUE. As a development exec, JMM first worked for Independent Film Channel & IFC Films, subsequently returning to IFC TV as Director of Development, before becoming Director of Development for News & Documentaries for Viacom's CMT network. Credits under CMT Docs banner include miniseries NASCAR: THE RISE OF AMERICAN SPEED and acclaimed feature documentaries THE BANDIT; IF I LEAVE HERE TOMORROW: A FILM ABOUT LYNYRD SKYNYRD; and CHICKEN PEOPLE.
A longtime member of the Producers Guild of America and the Television Academy, JMM earned an M.F.A. in filmmaking from Columbia University in the City of New York. His thesis film, THINGS WE SAID TODAY screened at festivals worldwide and was released in the U.S. by Frameline Distribution and Wolfe Video. He followed it with another international festival hit, SOME OF THESE DAYS.
