One of TV’s most iconic families gets a chance to say goodbye.
Deadline reports that The Conners is nearing an official pickup at ABC for Season 7.
The caveat is that it would be the Roseanne follow-up’s final season of around six episodes.
A deal is still being ironed out but is expected to be finalized relatively soon. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are among the cast members expected to return.
Many final seasons of long-running shows lose cast members due to the ever-increasing costs of making TV.
A consistent performer for ABC since it premiered, the show has much softer ratings than Roseanne – all following Roseanne’s controversial cancellation in 2018.
The Conners debuted following Roseanne’s cancellation
Roseanne returned earlier in 2018 to blockbuster viewership but was canceled after series star Roseanne Barr’s controversial comments about Valerie Jarrett.

The Conners fans can breathe a sigh of relief it seems as the ABC comedy looks set for a Season 7 renewal at the network. According to Deadline, the Roseanne spinoff is poised for a final season pickup that will be an abbreviated run, allowing for the wrap-up of ongoing storylines from the current sixth season. Fresh off of its 100th episode, The Conners renewal is in the stages of being finalized with a six-episode season on the table. Disney/Justin Stephens Current original stars of Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are expected to return for the season, reprising their roles as Dan, Jackie, Darlene, and Becky. Uncertainty around the show’s future was hinted at last spring as it was teased Season 6 might be the series’ last. Thankfully, it sounds like that isn’t the case, but only time will tell for certain. The Conners...

Close races and sharp elbows are likely when the 2024 Tony Award nominations are announced Tuesday morning. With so many shows opening during the onslaught of the past two weeks, nominators might still be clearing their minds — and maybe taking a moment to eat and breathe — as they ponder and re-ponder the 36 productions that opened on Broadway between April 28, 2023, and April 25, 2024.
Some of the nominations are no-brainers: The much-praised and hugely popular Merrily We Roll Along is a sure bet for all concerned, but what about more polarizing fare? Cabaret, Here Lies Love, Water for Elephants, I’m looking at you.
A selection of categories will be read live on CBS Mornings at 8:30 am Et, and a full livestream of the announcements will follow at 9 a.m. Et on the official Tony Awards YouTube page.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Conners Season 7, Episode 10, “Smash and Grab and Happy Death Day .”] The Conners hit 100 episodes with its latest installment, “Smash and Grab and Happy Death Day,” but was there anything truly standout about the milestone entry? Usually, 100th episodes lean into a big event, but The Conners relies on emotions and sentimentality for its milestone. The installment is broken up into two prominent storylines, one focusing on a smash-and-grab robbery at Dan’s (John Goodman) hardware store where Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) is on-site to help detain one of the would-be robbers. Disney / Chris Willard Meanwhile, Becky (Lecy Goranson) juggles the topic of death with her daughter Beverly Rose (Charlotte Sanchez) as her sister Darlene (Sara Gilbert) offers a blunter perspective. In both these storylines, sentimental aspects of these characters’ lives play a role. Jackie ultimately lets the low-rate criminal go after the police are slow to respond to the smash-and-grab...

Spoiler Alert! This story contains plot points from Wednesday’s episode of The Conners on ABC.
The Conners celebrated a big milestone — 100 episodes! — by doing what it does best: telling stories about small-town life and reminding folks that it has one of the most experienced ensembles on broadcast TV. Here, executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan talk about their six-season odyssey and whether it’s time to start planning for a seventh year on ABC.
Deadline: I still remember the day when former ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey abruptly canceled the Roseanne reboot. And now, the spinoff, The Conners, is celebrating 100 episodes.
Dave Caplan: We have a hard time believing that ourselves.
Bruce Helford: There are a couple of milestones. This is the first time to have the whole cast of a show hit the 100-episode milestone twice.
Deadline: Because you are celebrating 100 episodes, did you purposely...

For any television series reaching its 100th episode, looking back is a given, but there aren’t many shows with a 35-year history like ABC’s “The Conners,” the sitcom following the blue-collar family with an affinity for getting knocked down by life’s struggles while making us laugh along the way. “It’s just lucky, I guess,” says John Goodman, who plays patriarch Dan Conner. “Now all of a sudden, it’s 100 episodes. I can’t believe how fast the time went by, but I guess that’s just because I’m getting old.”

“It is a pretty great crop of plays this year, several that have become big commercial hits,” declares Sam Eckmann about the many dramas and revivals in contention for nominations at the 77th Tony Awards. Sam and I met for the very first time this season to discuss the 15 productions eligible for nominations, reviewing our picks in seven of the 11 play categories. Watch our 2024 Tony Awards slugfest above.
In the top category of Best Play, we overlap on four of our five predicted nominees: “Stereophonic,” “Prayer for the French Republic,” “Mother Play” and “Patriots.” While I tentatively pick the upcoming “Mary Jane” by Amy Herzog for the fifth slot, Sam backs “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding” by Jocelyn Bioh, saying it “got amazing reviews, enough to break in here.” We also discuss a possible surprise nomination for either “The Cottage” or “Grey House.” The other eligible productions are “I Need...

Last year, Frasier Crane returned to TV screens in the "Frasier" revival series. While it struggled to capture the magic of the original series, "Frasier" 2023 certainly had some high points. The festive season finale was one of the better Christmas episodes, and the show handled the passing of Martin Crane actor John Mahoney beautifully. Then there were the guest stars, which included actress Peri Gilpin, who played Frasier's producer on the original sitcom, and Bebe Neuwirth, who played Lilith Sternin on both "Frasier" and "Cheers."
Lilith debuted in the 1986 "Cheers" episode "Second Time Around," becoming a series regular and eventually starting a relationship with Kelsey Grammer's Frasier before the pair got married. By the end of the series they had broken up, and when "Frasier" debuted in 1993 the titular doctor had moved to Seattle while Lilith stayed in Boston with her and her ex-husband's son, Freddy. Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s time for the premiere edition of Emmy Experts Typing. But we’ll spend the next several months cycling through the top races in comedy, drama and limited series, starting today with the shows that prove music laughter is the best medicine. Or, well, maybe not since “The Bear” is the runaway favorite already here and very well could repeat its 2023 (2024) Emmy wins in 2024 (2024). It’s Cape Fear meets ‘The Burbs in director John Schlesinger’s Pacific Heights. Although you might be fooled by Hanz Zimmer’s score, which sounds a lot more like you’re watching Sexy Beetlejuice than a ’90s thriller. This is pure irony, of course, considering the film stars Beetlejuice himself, Michael Keaton, as a conman who is six feet from the edge and thinking maybe doing murder isn’t so far down.
For those of you arguing silently in your heads that Pacific Heights is not a horror movie, let me go ahead and agree with you. It’s a pure thriller. But imagine this for a moment; imagine somewhere out there is a fresh-off Batman Michael Keaton, sitting in a dark room twirling both a razor blade and a large cockroach through his fingers like some sort of emo fidget spinner, plotting you and your significant other’s demise.

While Bev is as chipper as ever when Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) drop by her place, they try explaining how they believe her credit card was hacked and will be out of use until things are sorted. The Conners – ABCÕs ÒThe ConnersÓ stars Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris. (Disney/Justin Stephens) Through 10 seasons on Roseanne and another six on The Conners, Laurie Metcalf has had plenty of experience playing the character of Jackie Harris, a role that’s earned her five Primetime Emmy Award nominations over the years, including three wins. According to Metcalf, the role has never gotten boring or predictable, though, because the writers and producers have made a habit of throwing the character into a lot of new and sometimes surprising situations. And that, Metcalf said, is part of the reason why she loves playing the character so much (Click on the media bar below to hear Laurie Metcalf) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Laurie_Metcalf-playing-Jackie-quali.mp3 The Conners airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Hulu.

Could The Conners still come to an end this season, or is it sure to at least be renewed for a seventh season? Stay tuned.

When The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon debuted seven years ago, it seemingly tried to distinguish itself from the major sitcom that reshaped the TV universe. Sheldon ditched the live audience, lost the multi-cam set up, and went for more of a Wonder Years or Everyone Hates Chris vibe, focussing mainly on family values and 22-minute stories of morality.
That’s not to say that Young Sheldon forgot where it came from, however. The show has borrowed several Big Bang story threads in order to create continuity and expand on Sheldon Cooper’s history. Yet there are some major holes that haven’t been addressed that fans of both shows have noticed.
With Young Sheldon’s final season just around the corner, here are some of the biggest questions left unanswered in the Big Bang universe.
