The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

“Killing Eve” kicked off season 3 in typically deadly fashion, with a suitably tragic character death.
Ratings-wise, the episode was watched by 1.1 million total viewers across both AMC and BBC America, which is down only a fraction on the season 2 premiere’s tally of 1.2 million, still the series high to date. However, that figure is still 4% higher than the season 2 Live+Same Day total viewership average.
In terms of the demographic breakdown, the premiere scored 424,000 total viewers among adults 25-54 and 330,000 among adults 18-49. The former numbers is down a little from the season 2 premiere (but up 33% from the finale and 8% from the season 2 average), while the latter is up a minute amount on last season’s debut (and also better than the season 2 finale by almost 30% and the season 2 average by 12%).

Great news “Killing Eve” fans, AMC has announced it is moving up the season 3 premiere by two weeks.
The acclaimed Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer series will now debut its third season on Sunday, April 12. The move comes as networks, cablers and streamers all contend with the programming and scheduling nightmare being caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
AMC, for instance, was forced to suspend production on both “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” meaning a substantial zombie-shaped hole will likely need to be filled in the network’s schedule.
“We know how adored this series is and we know how keen people are for great content right now,” said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios. “This season of ‘Killing Eve’ digs deep psychologically, and with actors like Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw the results are nothing short of astonishing. “Killing Eve” is the latest show to see its new season’s premiere date moved around amid production shutdowns and delays for other series due to the coronavirus pandemic. The third season of the Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh-led drama will now premiere two weeks earlier than previously scheduled, AMC Networks announced Friday.
“Killing Eve” Season 3, which was set to launch Sunday, April 26, will now debut Sunday, April 12 at 9/8c on BBC America and AMC. As had been previously announced, all eight episodes of the new season will be simulcast on both cable channels.
For AMC, “Killing Eve” will be filling the hole “The Walking Dead” has left in the network’s schedule, following the announcement that post-production could not be completed on the zombie apocalypse show’s Season 10 finale, so it will now air later this year as a special.

BBC America said today that Season 2 of its assassin drama Killing Eve delivered the highest season-over-season growth of any returning TV drama on U.S. television in the past three years.
The thriller starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer wrapped its sophomore run last month up 87 percent in total viewers and 78 percent in the key adults 25-54 demo from the first season, per Live+7 numbers from Nielsen Media Research.
“Season-over-season growth like this would be remarkable at any time, [but] it’s virtually unheard of in television today,” said Sarah Barnett, president of the entertainment networks group for AMC Networks. “There is so much love for Killing Eve from a growing base of passionate fans, it’s quite thrilling to witness.”
The Peabody-winning series, which has been renewed for a third season next year, stars Oh as MI6 operative Eve and Comer as Villanelle, the assassin Eve is tasked with finding.

“Designated Survivor” had a tough second season ratings-wise, but the drama starring Kiefer Sutherland as the Commander-in-Chief was still seen as having a decent shot at winning a third term on ABC — until the ax fell on Friday.
The show, from Mark Gordon Co./Entertainment One and ABC Studios, had been a strong draw for eOne in international markets, an important factor these days in the survival of any scripted series. And Sutherland is the kind of name-brand star that broadcast networks like to have in their sizzle reels.
But “Designated Survivor” was handicapped almost from the start by a revolving door of showrunners. Entertainment One had lined up drama veteran Neal Baer to take the helm of season three, which would have made him the show’s fifth showrunner. “Designated Survivor” has been a buzzy show right out of the gate since launching last fall on ABC, thanks in part to Kiefer Sutherland taking the reins as President Tom Kirkman. In addition to monthly events like NewFilmmakers Los Angeles, there’s the Indie Night Film Festival that takes place every Saturday at the Inside Jokes Comedy Club in Hollywood. Click here for how to submit. There is a two-drink minimum at the event. Other upcoming events include: Eli Roth’s Halloween All Night Marathon Oct. 31 All Night New Beverly Cinema 7165 West Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles http://www.thenewbev.com/ Screening of “Showrunners” Followed by Q&A With Showrunner Jeff Melvoin ("Army Wives") and Filmmaker Des Doyle Nov. 1 at 4:15 p.m. Arena Cinema Hollywood 1625 North Las Palmas Ave.
