She is best remembered as Buster Keaton's leading lady in Sherlock Jr. (1924) and The Navigator (1924). She also partnered Ben Turpin, Lupino Lane and cowboy actors Hoot Gibson and Tom Mix in films. She retired from acting in 1933.
- Prior to her emergence in Hollywood, Kathryn McGuire was "feeling depressed after an attack of the 'flu"" and a friend, a movie actress, gave her a lift as far as one of the studios.
