In 1961 BBC radio banned McDaniels' song "100 Pounds of Clay" because
it "indicated" that women were created from building materials, which
the network considered to be blasphemous. A cover version by UK artist
Craig Douglas was also banned but he re-recorded it with slightly
different lyrics and achieved a top-ten hit.
