Outlander Among BAFTA Scotland Winners
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Scotland (BAFTA Scotland) announced the winners of this year’s British Academy Scotland Awards during a digital ceremony last night. Highlights included Glenda Jackson winning in the Actress Category for Elizabeth Is Missing; Ncuti Gatwa winning this year’s Actor Category for Sex Education; and Stanley Baxter receiving the Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television Award and Phyliss Ironside received the Outstanding Contribution to Craft (in memory of Robert McCann). Guilt won two awards (Television Scripted and Director Fiction); Murder Trial: The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming won two awards (Factual Series and Director Factual); and Outlander was the recipient of the Audience Award, in partnership with Screen Scotland, voted for by the British public.

Tennis icons and equal rights champions, Serena and Venus Williams have joined the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative (Bjkli) advisory board, it was announced today.
In addition to their success on the tennis court, where they’ve captured a combined 30 Grand Slam singles titles, along with 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, and 4 Olympic gold medals each, the Williams sisters are strong advocates for equal prize money in the sport. They are also accomplished businesswomen and dedicated philanthropists. In 2016, Serena and Venus teamed up to establish The Williams Sisters Fund, which seeks to support various philanthropic efforts. Their first project, The Yetunde Price Resource Center, was created in honor of their late sister, Yetunde Price.

The Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative (Bjkli) last week convened leaders from a variety of sectors to hear from Emma Stone, Billie Jean King, Shonda Rhimes and Christiane Amanpour on the importance of equity, inclusion and the power of the individual to make change.
