Paramount+ has unveiled the cast of its new original series “The Doll Factory” from “Marcella” producers Buccaneer Media.
An adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Elizabeth Macneal, “The Doll Factory” is set in London in 1850 and tells the story of Iris, who paints dolls for a living alongside her twin sister, Rose, and those in their orbit, such as taxidermist Silas, who dreams of finding an item so unique he will be catapulted to fame, and painter Louis, who is searching for his next muse.
When Iris meets Silas, and then Louis, she is offered an opportunity to escape and start a new life. To do so, she must abandon her sister, sacrifice her reputation and launch herself into the unknown. But as Iris’ world expands, a story of dark obsession begins to unfold.

Fremantle has acquired international distribution rights to “Taken Down,” a politically minded crime series directed by David Caffrey (“Pinky Blinders”) and produced by Spiral Pictures.
Set in contemporary Ireland, the series follows an investigation launched in the aftermath of the violent death of a young Nigerian migrant who was found abandoned close to a Direct Provision Centre, where refugees wait for political asylum.
Commissioned by RTÉ Television in association with Arte France, “Taken Down” stars Aissa Maiga (“Anything for Alice”), Brian Gleeson (“Resistance”), Lynn Rafferty (“Love/Hate”). The cast is completed by Orla Fitzgerald (“The Young Offenders”) Jimmy Smallhorne (“Love/Hate”), Barry Ward (“The Fall”), Enoch Frost (“Skyfall”) and Slimane Dazi (“A Prophet”).

The ninth annual Irish Film & Television Awards took place tonight at a Gala Awards Ceremony held at the Convention Centre Dublin.
In the field of film 'The Guard' was the big winner of the night receiving the Ifta for Best Film, with writer/director John Michael McDonagh named Best Director, Best Screenwriter and the Irish Film Board Rising Star for his feature directorial debut. Fionnula Flannagan who was honoured with a lifetime achievement award also won best supporting actress for her part in 'The Guard'.
Michael Fassbender picked up best actor for 'Shame' while Saoirse Ronan picked up best actress for her role in 'Hanna.' The Irish Film & Television Academy (Ifta) are to host a preview screening of the much anticipated new series of 'Love/Hate' with Aidan Gillen, Stuart Carolan, David Caffrey and Suzanne McAuley in attendance. Ifta are giving members a sneak peak at the award-winning series at the Dublin's Odeon Bar on Tuesday 25th October at 6.30pm. The first episode of the second series will be shown, followed by a Q&A with some of the production team behind the gritty drama.

Bosnian war drama As If I Am Not There received three Ifta awards for Best Film, Director and Script for the film's Irish writer/director Juanita Wilson at tonight's Ifta awards, celebrating the Irish film and television industry.
Martin MCCann was named Best Actor for 'Swansong - Story of Occi Byrn', while Amy Huberman was got Best Actress for 'Rewind.'
Pierce Brosnan and Saorise Ronan took home the supporting honours at the awards with Brosnan winning Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'The Ghost', while Ronan's part in The Way Back earned her the supporting actress honour.

Shooting has begun on a new RTÉ drama, entitled 'Love-Hate', in Dublin on 12 October. Reflecting life in modern gangland Dublin, the story for the four x one hour drama is written by Stuart Carolan (Raw, Little White Lie) and will be directed by David Caffrey (Divorcing Jack, Raw). Ifta winning actor Aidan Gillen (The Wire) heads the cast alongside 21 year old star of 'Cherrybomb', Robbie Sheehan. Other confirmed cast includes a lineup of young Irish actors such as Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto), Ifta winning actress Ruth Bradley (Stardust) and Killian Scott. An RTÉ funded Octagon Films production, 'Love-Hate' is produced by Simon Massey, Suzanne McAuley (A Shine of Rainbows) and James Flynn (P.S. I Love You).
