Born in 1966 in Berlin, Germany, Daniel Mattig attended high school in
Berlin and is a business graduate. After he worked in a fashion company
and a travel agency, he came to the film business, where he started as
a production driver for successful German TV series like A.S. (1995),
Die Drei (1996) and Wolffs Revier (1992). Then Daniel worked for TV movies and feature films
and was location manager for live broadcasts from the Love Parade in
Berlin before he started to work on feature films. Daniel was also a
writer for stand up TV comedian Harald Schmidt at his Die Harald Schmidt Show (1995). Daniel
Mattig is a voting member of the European Film Academy since 2001. The
creation of the European Film Academy (EFA) was the initiative of a
group of filmmakers brought together on the occasion of the first
European Film Awards ceremony held in November 1988. EFA was finally
founded in 1989 under the name of European Cinema Society by its first
president Ingmar Bergman and 40 filmmakers to advance the interests of
the European film industry. Wim Wenders was elected as first chairman
of the association which two years later was renamed the European Film
Academy. Every year, the activities of the European Film Academy
culminate in the presentation of the European Film Awards (formerly
known under the name FELIX). The aim was to present an annual ceremony
to attract a broad audience, create curiosity for European film,
emphasise the artistic value of European cinema and re-establish
confidence in its entertaining qualities. Daniel Mattig's parents are
Edmund Mattig sr. and Hanne-Lore Mattig. He has one brother (Edmund
jr.) and two sisters (Ruby Mattig-Krone and Nicole
Mattig-Fabian).
