More than 250 artists, including Billie Eilish, Green Day, Sia and Cyndi Lauper, signed a letter Thursday urging the Senate Commerce Committee to support a bill that would reform the ticketing system for live events.
The Fans First Act, which was initially introduced in December by Sens. John Cornyn, Amy Klobuchar, Marsha Blackburn, Peter Welch, Roger Wicker and Ben Ray Lujan, aims to address flaws in the current live event ticketing system. The bill hopes to increase transparency in ticket sales, protect consumers from fake or overpriced tickets, and hold those who engage in illegal ticket sale practices accountable.
“As artists and members of the music community, we rely on touring for our livelihood, and we value music fans above all else,” the letter said in part. “We are joining together to say that the current system is broken: predatory resellers and secondary platforms engage in deceptive ticketing practices to inflate...

Anyone who has tried to secure tickets to a concert in recent years knows that the system is broken. Luckily, many top acts know it is broken, too, and want something done about it.
Over 250 artists, including Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Lorde, Sia, Train, Graham Nash, Green Day, Cyndi Lauper, Fall Out Boy, Chappell Roan, Becky G, Béla Fleck, Jason Mraz, Yes, Mgmt, Blue Öyster Cult and many others have lent their names to bills currently put before congress, the Fans First Act and The Ticket Act, which basically pokes holes in the current ticketing system that frequently drives up prices and creates an unfair secondary market. The bills by members of both parties, like Republican Texas senator John Cornyn and Democratic Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar.

More than 250 recording artists have signed a letter to the Senate Committee on Commerce in support of a bill advocating for ticket sale transparency and consumer protections against bots.
Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Lorde, Sia, Train, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Graham Nash, Becky G, and Chappell Roan are among the prominent signees urging Congress to pass the Fans First Act (S. 3457). The bill, introduced by Senators Cornyn, Klobuchar, Blackburn, Welch, Wicker, and Lujan, and the bipartisan Ticket Act (H.R. 3950), sponsored by Reps. Bilirakis, Schakowsky, and Armstrong, which passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, address the live event ticketing system. The letter claims current practices leave fans and artists alike exposed to the predatory practices of bad actors within the secondary ticketing market.

Since the lockdown four years ago, Dionne Warwick has been known almost as much for her pithy tweets as for her velvety singing voice and the gorgeous Burt Bacharach-Hal David hits she transformed into pop standards. “I don’t get up in the morning and say, ‘I’ve got to tweet today,’” she tells Rolling Stone. “I do it when I feel there’s something I want to say.”
That moment arrived again this past Monday, when Warwick tweeted: “In every game it’s usually 3 strikes and you’re out.

Ozzy Osbourne is known to many as the Prince of Darkness, but now he’s got a new nickname: “The Betty White of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” That comes courtesy of Peter Frampton, a fellow inductee in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024.
Frampton was asked by Rolling Stone about Ozzy getting in the Rock Hall for the second time (he was also inducted as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006), and the guitar hero responded, “The man is the Betty White of rock & roll.”
We’re not sure Ozzy will be using that as a tagline anytime soon, but Frampton was surely relating the metal icon’s long-lasting career and lovable persona to that of the beloved late Golden Girls actress. As far as potentially jamming with Ozzy on a rendition of “Crazy Train” at the Rock Hall induction ceremony this October, Frampton enthused, “That would be fantastic.

After three decades of eligibility where he didn’t appear on a single ballot, Peter Frampton was starting to think he’d never be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But once voters finally had to chance to select him earlier this year, things changed very quickly. He learned the good news over the weekend when his manager phoned him up to say he made it. “I was absolutely blown away,” Frampton says. “My mind has been sort of a blur ever since I found out, especially...

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the names of 16 artistes who will be inducted in 2024. According to ‘Variety’, the diverse list includes R&b/rock pioneer Big Mama Thornton, pop superstars Cher and Dionne Warwick, as well as 1970s-rooted rockers like Peter Frampton, Foreigner, and Ozzy Osbourne, alongside 1990s icons such as the Dave Matthews Band and Mary J. Blige.
Jimmy Buffett’s inclusion among the inductees comes as a surprise. His entry is unexpected not only because the late singer/songwriter was not on the ballot this year but also because he had never been nominated before.
‘Variety’ reports that the Rock Hall’s committee, seemingly in a sentimental mood after Buffett’s passing seven months ago, chose to honour him via a separate, non-voted category for “musical excellence”.

A sold-out crowd had assembled in the famed Los Angeles venue on Thursday to celebrate the legacy of Jimmy Buffett at “Keep the Party Going,” a laid-back, one-night-only tribute show full of eclectic guests.

Back in 2020, it was announced that a biopic on the tumultuous relationship between Ozzy Osbourne and his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne was in development. While not much has been revealed since then, the Osbournes — including kids Jack and Kelly — have some strong opinions on who should play the lead roles.
During a new episode of The Osbournes Podcast, Jack posed the question, “Who do you want to play you guys?” To which Kelly responded, “I know who I want to play mom — Florence Pugh. I think Florence Pugh would do a fantastic [job].”
Sharon added, “I think Florence Pugh or the little girl from Game of Thrones,” with Jack clarifying that she meant Maisie Williams.
“You know who I want to play dad,” continued Jack. “Bill Hader … Everyone thinks I’m fuckin’ crazy until I show a side-by-side picture, [not to mention] that guy’s ability to morph [into a character].”

‘Ordinary Angels’ Review: Hilary Swank’s Passionate Performance Drives True Faith Based Family Drama
Lionsgate’s collaboration with faith based movie producers Kingdom Story Company has reaped boxoffice rewards for both, and with their latest, Ordinary Angels, the inspiring true story of a small Kentucky town that comes together in a historic snowstorm in order to transport a 3-year-old girl to an Omaha hospital for a life-saving liver transplant, they have another surefire heartfelt film tailor-made for audiences looking for a little uplift. This actually would have made a perfect Christmas season release but has been delayed for several months, now opening in the same February corridor where Kingdom’s surprise hit, Jesus Revolution did well last year. Midwest crowds will especially respond to a never-say-never tale that is about bringing people together, not tearing them apart in this age of division.

The Dave Matthews Band (Dmb) has announced this year’s summer tour.
The band will return to some of the venues they performed at last year during the 2023 Summer Tour. Places like The Woodlands, Texas, West Palm Beach, Florida and Wantagh, New York, among others, will be welcoming the rock band back.
Many of their tour stops will have them staying for two nights and performing back-to-back concerts.
Also, like last year, Dmb is scheduled to conclude the summer tour in George, Washington, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in September.
Dmb has found much success since their formation in 1991. With ten studio albums, they’ve sold over 30 million albums in the whole country alone. They’ve also been nominated for the Grammy Awards 14 times and won Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1997.
Band members include frontman Dave Mathews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer Carter Beauford, violinist Boyd Tinsley and saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

Dave Matthews — yes, the one with the band — joined Dinosaur Jr. onstage during their show in Seattle Wednesday night (January 12th), where they all did a cover of Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer” together.
Dino Jr. like to bring their friends onstage. While they were in London last November, they brought out My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields to shred on a cover The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” In just the past week alone, they’ve recruited Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus, Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock, Red Fang’s Bryan Giles, and The Dandy Warhols’ Peter Holmström at various shows.
And Matthews wasn’t the only guest Wednesday, either: Mudhoney’s Mark Arm also assisted J Mascis and company for covers of The Stooges’ “T.V. Eye” and “Real Cool Time,” while Pearl Jam/Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron sat in during “Yeah We Know.” See some fan-captured clips...

About 45 of them joined the outlaw country legend in April to mark his milestone birthday with two sold-out shows at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl. Willie Nelson is now officially a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Just don’t ask him what he has to do with rock & roll. “It’s been a long ride from my first DJ job to being here with y’all,” he said during his acceptance speech. “And as a DJ, I was playing those first songs by Elvis. I remember writers calling that ‘rockabilly’ rather than rock & roll, and I never did pay much attention to categories, and I’m not sure the fans did either.

Olivia Rodrigo has been added to the performance line-up of this Friday’s 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and she’ll reportedly be appearing on stage with inductee Sheryl Crow.
The Rock Hall announced Rodrigo’s appearance today, posting on Instagram that the Guts singer “will perform with one of her heroes” at the induction ceremony this Friday. The mystery guest didn’t stay a mystery for long though: In an interview with The New York Times, John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, apparently couldn’t contain himself, revealing that Rodrigo will perform with Crow.
“Olivia Rodrigo is coming in this year,” Sykes said in the interview. “Last year she got up and sang ‘You’re So Vain’ by Carly Simon. She’s going to play with Sheryl Crow this year. It’s this mutual admiration that connects the past with the present.
