- For over fifteen years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. A legend in the stand-up community, he has appeared on HBO, Conan, Letterman, his two Comedy Central Presents specials and almost every show that allows comics to perform. His book based on his solo show, The Jerusalem Syndrome: My Life as a Reluctant Messiah, is out of print and overpriced by vendors who think it might have some collectors value'. His three CDs, "Not Sold Out', 'Tickets Still Available' and 'Final Engagement' are comedy cult classics.
This year, Marc headlined an episode of John Oliver's NY Stand-Up Show and was ranked #7 in Comedy Central's annual Stand-Up Showdown. His podcast "WTF with Marc Maron" skyrocketed to #1 on the iTunes comedy charts and was ranked #3 Best Podcast of 2009 by iTunes Rewind. He also premiered 'Scorching the Earth,' a one-man show based on his two divorces and anger problem.- IMDb Mini Biography By: MarcMaron.com

- Has been on poor terms with Jon Stewart for years, which Maron admits largely stemmed from jealousy on his part. Because he finds Stewart to be nice, smart and talented despite their personal differences, he invited him onto his podcast to make amends (episodes of his podcast in which he reconciled with Paul F. Tompkins and Louis C.K. are regarded by many critics to be among the best podcast interviews ever). Stewart responded to this invitation, saying he would be willing to discuss their issues one-on-one over coffee, but not to do so in a public forum, although he made a point to congratulate Maron on the success of his podcast.
- One of his guests on his highly successful 'WTF with Marc Maron' podcast was then President Barack Obama. Maron often makes mention of having to ask his neighbors' permission to station Secret Service snipers on their roofs during the interview.
- Was best friends and roommates with Louis C.K..
- Was good friends with Sam Kinison.
- Grew up in New Jersey, Alaska, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

- [observation, 2015] Because I've become a little more refined as an an actor, and in knowing what the character of 'me' is on the show, emotionally and comically, there's a lot of stuff this season. There's a lot of what-ifs. There's a little bit of an undercurrent off the worst road traveled. What if Maron kinda succumbed to the darker side of him and things went that way? It's almost a cautionary tale.
- [on Lynn Shelton's death] It's a terrible experience but it is a fundamental human experience. It's as common as love. It's devastating, but we are built to carry it, for ourselves and for others.
