The life of a child actor can be a Faustian bargain. On the one hand, these kids get to play make-believe for hours at a time, and if their parents don't mess things up, make enough money in the process to secure their futures. On the other, without the maturity to handle the spotlight and all its temptations appropriately, things can go very wrong, especially if their childhood cuteness doesn't translate into adult charisma as they age out of the parts that made them successful.
Sometimes fans just won't let child stars grow up. Sometimes, it's just baggage that needs to be overcome, like when Brie Larson's child actor experience made her hesitant to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They might realize that they never should have played the roles they did, especially if they're R-rated. Not every child actor wants to keep acting either. For those who decide...

Parker Posey didn’t lose sleep over her “Sleepless in Seattle” role being cut from the final film.
The “Beau Is Afraid” and “Party Girl” icon revealed that she was cast in the Nora Ephron film, with the writer-director later reaching out to assure Posey that her performance was not why she was cut out of the rom-com starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
“Nora was so supportive,” Posey recalled to Vogue. “She told me I was a ‘gifted comedienne,’ which I’d never been called before.”
Ephron wrote Posey a note apologizing for the final edit; Posey was later cast in Ephron’s “Mixed Nuts” and “You’ve Got Mail,” with a role that Ephron created specifically for her.
“Being on set with Nora was kinda like a cocktail party without the cocktails — it’s still the best catering I’ve ever had on a film set,” Posey said. “She...

Tom Hanks is opening up about having less-than-perfect professionalism on set.
The Oscar winner, who this week releases the novel “The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece,” admitted to sometimes feeling pressured to maintain a certain level of “charming” composure in the past. The affable Hanks is perhaps best known by many as America’s Dad, but his new novel in part deconstructs that persona. The book charts the making of a fictional big-budget superhero movie with an eccentric director and a self-destructive lead actor who delays filming — something Hanks said he can relate to.
“I have pulled every single one of those moments of behavior myself on a set,” Hanks told the BBC. “Not everybody is at their best every single day on a motion picture set.”
The “Man Called Otto” actor continued, “I’ve had tough days trying to be a professional when my life has been...

Sleepless in Seattle is a romantic comedy-drama that captured hearts worldwide in 1993. The movie starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as the lead characters, Sam and Annie. However, a young yet pivotal character stole the show and left a lasting impression on viewers. This character was none other than Jonah Baldwin, Sam’s son, played by Ross Malinger.
The star was only 9 years old when he appeared in the movie, but his acting skills were remarkable. Despite the success of Sleepless in Seattle, Ross Malinger ultimately decided to leave acting behind. Today, Malinger is a car salesman living away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

Malinger made his acting debut at 6, starring as Elliot Brody on Beverly Hills, 90210. He followed that up with his role as Harvey in Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A homicidal hockey mascot. A firefighter-turned-fire marshal-turned-Stanley Cup Finals goalie. Lethal gym equipment. A magnificent helicopter escape plan. Lots and lots of roundhouse kicks. All of these elements and more make Sudden Death, released on this date in 1995, the most glorious action extravaganza of superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career.
Essentially Die Hard At A Hockey Game, Sudden Death tells the tale of divorced former firefighter Darren McCord (Jcvd), who, after a workplace tragedy, has become a fire marshal at Pittsburgh Civic Arena. For his young son Tyler (Ross Malinger)’s birthday, Darren is bringing Tyler and daughter Emily (Whittni Wright) to the office. The occasion? Game 7 of the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals, an imagined rematch of the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals bout between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Vice President Daniel Binder (Raymond J. Barry) is in attendance with a prestigious entourage in a skybox.

The Empire State Building finale of “Sleepless in Seattle,” the hit romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks celebrating its 25th anniversary on June 25, has become an indelible scene in pop culture.
It almost didn’t happen — but fortunately, Nora Ephron knew people.
Annie (Ryan), a writer from Baltimore, finally meets Seattle widower (Tom Hanks) and his young son Jonah (Ross Malinger) at the observation deck on the famed landmark on Valentine’s Day.
But producer Gary Foster recalled they weren’t granted permission to shoot there.
So, Foster told Ephron, who co-wrote and directed the film. “And Nora said, ‘I know somebody.’ It was a famous publicist who represented Leona Helmsley, who was in prison at the time. The man said I’m going to see her in a few days and I’ll bring her up.”
The publicist asked the Queen of Mean, who owned the building,...

So, we’ve arrived at the top 20, slowly creeping toward those films that are exactly what a romantic comedy should be. We’ve seen films that fall into the category, but lean more toward other genres. We’ve seen romantic films that are funny enough to be comedies, but don’t entirely represent the spirit of the rom-com, despite being brilliant films. Now, we form a clearer picture of what a romantic comedy is. Not all of the films in this section are necessarily “good,” but they’re all iconic, definitive romantic comedies (hence their inclusion). Memorability does not necessarily come partnered with quality. It means right place, right time.

'Sleepless in Seattle': Meg Ryan 'Sleepless in Seattle' review: Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in an affair to forget In Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors: Red, the last installment of his "Three Colors" trilogy, the word "magic" is never bandied about. No need to. Magic is just about everywhere in that lyrical tale about love and fate. On the other hand, the word "magic" seems to crop up every other minute in writer-director Nora Ephron's Sleepless in Seattle. Ephron and fellow Oscar-nominated screenwriters Jeff Arch and David S. Ward (plus an uncredited Delia Ephron) were apparently trying to create screen magic through the power of suggestion. If you repeat it often enough... Following in the footsteps of Claude Lelouch's 1974 hit And Now My Love, with added touches borrowed from Leo McCarey's 1957 romance classic An Affair to Remember (itself a remake of McCarey's own 1939 Love Affair), Nora Ephron...

This week, Steven Spielberg's classic dinosaur thriller "Jurassic Park" gets rereleased in theaters –- in 3D! I vividly remember being in high school when it came out in the summer of 1993 and jumping out of my seat next to my best friends. It was an amazing year in theaters, with a mix of unforgettable Oscar-winning dramas ("Schindler's List," "Philadelphia," "The Piano"), hilarious comedies ("Mrs. Doubtfire," "Groundhog Day") and action flicks ("The Firm," "The Fugitive," "In the Line of Fire"). If you've got a tween or teen who has yet to see "Jurassic Park," get yourself to a theater, but if your clan isn't ready for lawyer-gobbling t-rexes and Samuel L. Jackson-chomping velociraptors, take a look at three more family friendly 20-year-old movies. It's been touching to see the outpouring of love for Nora Ephron since the journalist, novelist, screenwriter and director passed away last night. Ephron's films have never really been particularly trendy; you're not going to find many hip young filmmakers naming her as an influence. But it's clear from the last twelve hours or so that most cinephiles hold at least a few of her films close to their hearts. Ephron wasn't just the writer, and sometimes director, behind a string of classics, she was also one of the most important women in the film industry across the last twenty years, and one of the most insightful writers of female characters that Hollywood has ever had.
Her big-screen work is only a drop in the ocean of a long and hugely impressive career; she was a prolific and brilliant prose writer, and anyone with even a slight interest in Ephron...
