Amen Corner split partly because of a lack of credibility. We didn't write the songs and you could feel that musically things were changing and leaving us behind. But the main reason was that, after we had hits, everything on the business side was a disaster. We got sold to Don Arden who then sold us on to Andrew Oldham. It should have been a wonderful time but I ended up thinking, 'if this is success, I'd rather be somewhere else.'
