Kpop, the history-making Broadway musical depicting and celebrating the Korean pop genre phenomenon of the title, will play its final performance this Sunday after a struggle at the box office.
The final performance of the musical, which features a cast of young actors and actual K-pop stars including Luna, BoHyung and others, will close after its performance on Sunday, December 11, at Circle in the Square Theatre. It will have played only 17 regular performances after 44 previews.
Despite generating considerable excitement among K-pop fans, the musical has not drawn big audiences – or at least audiences paying top dollar for tickets. Last week, the show, which received mixed reviews from critics, grossed just 126,493, and although 72 of the venue’s seats were filled, the average ticket price was a tiny 32.
The show began previews on Oct. 13, and officially opened Nov. 27.

Kpop, the Broadway musical celebrating the international musical phenomenon, is delaying its official press opening by a week due to Covid among the principal cast.
Critics initially were invited to attend press performances this week, but have been asked to reschedule for Thanksgiving weekend instead. The official opening night at the Circle in the Square Theatre will now be Sunday, Nov. 27, although various festivities originally slated for the previous Nov. 20 opening will go on as planned.
According to a spokesperson for the show, a principle cast member of the musical, who was not identified, will be out of the show this weekend. Kpop has repeatedly missed some performances in recent weeks.
Kpop, according to the official synopsis, “is the story of global superstars putting everything on the line for a special one-night only concert, when one singer’s inner struggle threatens to dismantle one of the biggest labels in the industry.

It wasn’t all fun and games on Ryan Murphy’s “The Glee Project”, apparently.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the final episode of the reality show, that aired from 2011 to 2012, contestants have spoken out about their time on the series.
Insider interviewed multiple stars of the show, which was dedicated to finding “Glee”‘s next big star, with season 2 contestant Abraham Lim admitting: “There were so many great elements of the show, but it was also really anxiety-inducing and there was a lot of trauma. Trauma bonds were made.”
Executive producer Shauna Minoprio insisted it was all about who Murphy wanted to write a “Glee” character for.
“What’s interesting about the show is, this was about somebody’s creative vision,” Minoprio told the publication. “It wasn’t about who’s the best singer or dancer. It was about who Ryan Murphy was the most excited to write a character for.

There was a time when “Glee” dominated pop culture, and as a result, a reality competition spinoff was briefly in the spotlight as well. But, according to some of the contestants on “The Glee Project,” that spinoff series actually fostered “a lot of trauma.”
In a new oral history with Insider, former winners and runners-up of “The Glee Project” — including Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen and Lindsay Pearce — admitted that the reality show was pretty emotionally damaging at times, saying that the producers “manipulated” the young contestants into storylines they wanted to see on screen.
“It was abuse, whether they thought it was or wasn’t,” Pearce, who had a brief arc as Harmony “the Gerber baby” on the show, said. “They made a successful reality television show, but the cost was high for some of us.”
Pearce recalled two specific moments on the show, in which she was involved directly.

In a premise that seems borrowed from “Black Mirror,” Adrian Grenier’s Nick Brewer appears in a startling web video near the start of Netflix’s “Clickbait, holding a sign indicating that once his taped confession of abuse gets 5 million views, he will die. The clip, of course, goes viral. And unsure where he is, his family must figure out how a man they only knew as devoted and sweet found himself confessing to a secret life.
That family does the heavy lifting on this limited series. With each episode devoted to the point of view of a different character, the installments focused on Nick’s sister, Pia (Zoe Kazan), and his wife, Sophie (Betty Gabriel), are the strongest. Both existed in the shadow of Nick’s goodness — Pia as black-sheep sibling, Sophie as less devoted spouse — and each seems dazed as she confronts the new reality the web has opened up in their lives.

"What are you actually doing to find him?" Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a mysterious, intriguing thriller mini-series titled Clickbait, directed by filmmaker Brad Anderson. Even though it's a series, this trailer plays like a feature film trailer, and sets up a story that seems like a story from a movie extended into 8 episodes for Netflix. When family man Nick Brewer is abducted in a crime with a sinister online twist, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why. "Victim or Suspect? Crime or Conspiracy? Innocent or Guilty?" This stars Adrian Grenier, Zoe Kazan, Jaylin Fletcher, Camaron Engels, Jessica Collins, Betty Gabriel, Motell Gyn Foster, Abraham Lim, and Daniel Henshall. It all seems pretty obvious from this trailer what's going on - he's really a shady guy, his family refuses to believe it, someone he hurt is trying to play a game to wake...

Unlike most other superhero shows, Amazon Prime’s The Boys brings a little more realism to their superheroes, in terms of corruption and powers. That’s where VFX supervisor Stephan Fleet comes in. “We always approach everything, no matter how absurd or supernatural,” Fleet says, “with the thought of ‘what would make it feel the most real?’ I’m getting emails right now from Eric [Kripke] saying, ‘what would make this crazy thing feel the most real.’ It’s a very common topic for us.”

Abraham Lim (The Glee Project) is set for a recurring role in a recasting on ABC’s new legal drama The Fix, from Marcia Clark, Mandeville TV and ABC Studios.
Co-written by Clark, The Fix centers on Maya Travis (Robin Tunney), an L.A. district attorney who suffers a devastating defeat when prosecuting an A-list actor for double murder. With her high-profile career derailed, she flees for a quieter life in Washington. Eight years later when this same celebrity is under suspicion for another murder, Maya is lured back to the Da’s office for another chance at justice.
Lim will play Ares, a smart, slick, high-end media consultant who is brought in by Ezra (Scott Cohen) to consult on the upcoming trial. He replaces Alysia Reiner, who was initially cast as the character Eres. The role went in another direction creatively and was recast, I hear.

"Glee Project" contestant Abraham Lim may not get the chance to star on "Glee," but at least he made a lasting impression on show creator Ryan Murphy.
After his last chance performance, Abraham, 24, approached Murphy and the other "Glee Project" mentors to let them know that he would not go home until he either won the competition or got a part on "Glee." Needless to say, threats don't really work on the "Glee" showrunner, and Murphy sent Abraham home.
HuffPost TV chatted with the "Glee Project" castoff about his risky encounter with Murphy, his problem with androgyny and his obsession with Fifty Shaded of Grey.
What was going through your head when you went back onstage to talk to Ryan?
Honestly, the goal for me wasn't anything other than me saying what I felt I needed to say to Ryan. He really didn't comment on my last chance performance, and...

Orson Welles. Robert Altman. Jhoan Camitz (a.k.a. That Guy Who Directed the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe”). And now Glee Project video director Erik White. Few have tried to execute the dreaded one-take virtuoso shot, and even fewer have succeeded. (“Wannabe” actually had two takes, proof that you can have too much zig-a-zig-ah.) This logistical nightmare, though, was an appropriate challenge during The Glee Project’s Tenacity Week as Gleek hopefuls wheelbarrow-ed and double Dutch-ed their way through nearly three dozen takes to film a video for Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.” Several contestants earned their stripes, but Ryan Murphy...
