Was nominated for Broadway's 1964 Tony Award as Best Author (Musical),
along with his collaborator Noël Coward, for "The Girl Who Came to Supper."
He was friendly with the songwriter Frank Loesser; however, his affection did not extend to Loesser's wife, whom he once famously described as "the evil of two Loessers".
