British television actor David Morrissey also signed on for a part in the film. He plays Sara’s uncle and chief advisor to President Ulysses S. Grant. The fantastic Hayley Atwell joining "The Return of Captain Nemo" is certainly good news, but what's surprising and endearing, is that the sequel to "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" will have a price tag of $10 million! Yup, that's $10 million! This one is an indie version but will be shot ala "300" entirely onstage and using CGI. If director Pearry Teo succeeds, this will be ultra-cool! Once upon a time, David Fincher was going to make his version of the sequel, but Disney balked at the $150 million budget! Should Disney embrace this indie vision?

This came out of nowhere. But it is a fairly small project, in fact next to Disney's planned $150 Million version of 20,000 Leagues this would have to be considered indie. Anyway, Deadline have revealed quite a few details on the flick which will see a return to the screen for the famous hero of literature perhaps best known to comic book fans from Alan Moore's League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie will be produced by Shoreline Entertainment and directed by Pearry Teo. Starring Atwell, Morrissey and Hugh Bonneville as Nemo himself. Here is an excerpt from Deadline's article.. Like 300, this Captain Nemo adventure will be shot entirely on stage using green screen and CGI. “We would have to double our production costs if we shot this in the States,” Producer Amy Krell says. Shoreline Entertainment is selling The Return of Captain Nemo, which will be directed by Pearry Teo. Atwell...

The word from Cannes is that Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville is set to star in Shoreline Entertainment’s reworking of the Captain Nemo character, under the direction of Pearry Teo (Witchville in China).
Last seen jumping the shark in Stephen Norrington’s infamous (but unconnected) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Captain Nemo will team up with President Ulysses Grant to challenge the evil genius responsible for numerous naval disasters in a unofficial steampunked sequel to Jules Verne’s classic novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
Teo will reteam with producer Amy Krell for the project, the two having previously worked together for the SyFy Channel. Shoreline Entertainment’s founder and CEO Morris Ruskin will executive produce alongside Asia Bridge’s Steve Chicorel.
Titled Captain Nemo, and set for a 3D release, this is not the only vehicle for the character on the horizon, with David Fincher flirting with...
